How can anyone like Lady in the Water? It's like everything in that movie is written to become a twist. Most people who didn't like Unbreakable were expecting something else and most people who didn't like The Village were expecting a real horror movie not a love story.

I think the reason these 2 movies failed is because they were marketed wrong. In both instances the fans were tricked, and not in a good way. I knew both tricks before I saw them so maybe that's why I liked them and Unbreakable is my favorite movie.

Apparantly one of the mods disagreed with your incorrect opinion and whoever it was, keep up the good work.

Anyway, I've had this movie downloaded for a while but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Maybe I liked "Lady In The Water" because I wasn't expecting anything out of it. I had already read all the bad reviews. I just took it for what it was and was pleasantly surprised.

It was basically a Fairy Tale for adults who longed for the fairy tales they remembered as a child. I really don't remember any twists to be honest and I don't remember any "shocking" moments, I just liked the way the story was told.

Some people like weirdo David Lynch and Gus Van Sant movies. I like M. Night movies, probably because I don't read too much into them.

I will say one thing, outside of "Unbreakable" I don't think there's a lot of rewatchability to any of his movies but I do like them when I first see them, whether I've been told they suck ahead of time or not.

Get Smart: Honestly I havent seen a good comedy since Superbad. This movie made Zohan look great, and I didnt think that was possible. 2/10. And I only give it 2 instead of 0 because I have a crush on Anne Hathaway.:hump:

Hasn't blown up yet. You should hope a little harder. Try holding your breath and concentrating until my computer blows up or you pass out and die, whichever comes first.

    FIRST SUNDAY

    GRADE C-

    PREMISE -
Tracy Morgan & Ice Cube attempt a simple robbery of a churche's safe late at night, but when the preacher, members of the deacon board, and choir all arrive for late night business, what starts out as a mere robbery turns into a hostage situation. But will Cube and Morgan get talked out of their evil deeds before they get the money?

CRITIQUE - A dramadey this is. Those who are fans of Katt Williams should enjoy his moments in this movie as he even made me (not a big fan) chuckle. Morgan was a bit of a disappointment comedy wise, but just a bit. The comedy was minisicle in quality not quantity. The drama kind of tugged on your heart strings at times even though it was about as basic and unlikely a story as Friday was.

    RATATOUILLE

    GRADE B

    PREMISE -
A rat in france who has a knack for cooking gets seperated from his clan but winds up secretly teaming up with a real chef who gets all the credit for their cooking work.

CRITIQUE - One of the better animated films of late. I really enjoyed this one and it had a few funny moments but overall I thought it had a really good story with a feel good ending.

    MAD MONEY

    GRADE A

    PREMISE -
Diane Keaton's hubby gets fired from his 6 figure job and to try to keep the bills at bay she takes a job at one of those places that destroys old currency bills. After realizing how easily the security can be thwarted, she teams with Queen Latifah and another chick and began to start recycling those old bills (if you know what I mean).

PREMISE - Gives you that good feeling of seeing a fantasy fulfilled when an average joe robs the big corporation, kind of like in the 1st Ocean's movie. If that's not enough the story is well written, the humor is pretty good, and it never gets boring. You even get the added bonus of seeing them try to outwit the police.

    WELCOME HOME ROSCOE JENKINS

    GRADE - C

    PREMISE -
Martin Lawrence is a big time tv personality/celebrity along the lines of say, doctor Phil. He meets his bride to be and decides to go home for a reunion after being away for 10 years. Problem is his family still see him as the little brother who sold out and whom they still don't really respect.

CRITIQUE - The comedy of the movie is what gets it it's score but with that said the comedy quality wasn't that good dispite some of the comedy star power that was attached to this. Still I lol'd. The low score comes from the mediocre story that comes with it. You'll have to just enjoy some of the dialogue and the comedy for this one.

    THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE

    GRADE - F-

    PREMISE -
A young man gets killed by a monster only to wake up at the same age but in an alternate life only to be killed by these monsters again and again. They can take human form and they live off of fear. Funny thing is the kid learns he is one of these monsters and he betrayed the others at some point so this is their revenge. His only hope is to save a girl who keeps winding up in all his different lives.

SPOILT - Sure I just gave away everything in the movie, but if that stops you from watching it, then you should just shoot me a PM and thank me now.

CRITIQUE - Maybe this movie could have been good had they left the monster angle completely out of it.It not only was bad in every way but the monsters looked like crap. I thought I was watching the sci fi channel with the way this movie looked and came across. Also how come they could kill him over and over but didn't even bother to try to kill the one girl they need to? Urrgghh!! This one gets my official turd of the year award :shit: trust me, nothing will top this stink bomb.

This is the first of a triology about Genghis Khan and this one focus on his early years of how he came to power.

The cinematography is awesome and the battle scenes are impressive, not as cartoonish and excessive as 300.

    Into The Wild

    5/10

If this movie doesn't want to make you go out and put a bullet through your head, nothing will! Basically a story about a kid who suffers from some sort of mania, commits slow suicide in the wilds of Alaska after leaving the modern world behind and burning or giving all of the money away he ever had.

Outrageously depressing to say the least. It's a movie where you can say you "saw" it,but would never have any desire to watch ever again.

    Rewatchability - minus 10

    A.I. Artificial Intelligence

    3/10

It only gets a three cause it was kind of cool to see what New York City looked like in the future. But pretty terrible story itself to base a movie on. Just flat out boring looking back on it. As with "Into The Wild",a movie you can say you "Saw",but would never want to watch ever again!!

Two utterly depressing movies I watched two days in a row:boohoo:

i liked it, but it was very depressing. I thought it would be one of those "coming of age" films where the main character "finds himself" and triumphantly returns to the civilized world better than ever.

The fact that it was a Sean Penn movie should have given us a clue that it would be very depressing.

I think your clue on it being very depressing is that its based on a TRUE story where he dies. It has nothing to do with Penn as the director. Penn was just portraying the true story.

I always like movies with little dialogue, this is the one i have been waiting for for a long time. Humor, romance.....not just a movie for kids, actually it's a great date movie. Take your woman to see this one.

I would be disappointed if it doesnt win an Oscar next year in best animation feature category.

I finally watched The Namesake this weekend.

Overall I liked it, the story was good and some of the acting was as well...Irfan Khan, Tabu, Zuleikha Robinson have noteworthy performances, but I thought Kal Penn and Jacinda Barrett were rather poor and as the movie shifted focus on characters I think it lost something.

I like that dude who played Kal Penn's father in the movie, he also played a policeman in Angelina Jolie's "A Mighty Heart".

I agree. The best Pixar movie since FINDING NEMO. Children and adults can enjoy it. It also works as a good science fiction story. It was obviously inspired by the little botanical robots from the classic SILENT RUNNING (1972). This movie feels almost like a sequel to that film with its profound ecology message, but with a lot of humor and a big heart. Needless to say I enjoyed it enormously. 10/10

actually, the movie is based on a book that was based on a true story. And he could have chosen any other book to do a movie on, but he chose a really heavy and depressing one, in his style.

Watched End Of Days yesterday for the first time in awhile. Pretty good movie. Schwarzenegger has to save a girl from marrying the devil(Gabriel Byrne). Bryne is absoloutely MADE for playing Satan if anybody is, and he pretty much made this movie good. 8/10
