Who both pretty much stuck to smaller heavyweights.

Toney had his chance to fight Klitschko and turned it down.

Maybe so. Maybe soccer is supposed to have more broken legs and killed players. It is just what you like. If you want more colourful fights, they are to be found from smaller divisions (or films were heavyweights were smaller). The thing is, these guys would not lose for the smaller ones

Haye is big, and Haye is fast. If he had shown a Holyfield chin at cruiserweight, I´d pick him without hesitation. Still this has to be considered an 50/50 fight early on. If Wlad reaches and misses with his lead right like he did some times today, or feints with the weight on his backfoot and his guard down, Haye will come with something big and Wlad will be on queer street. Speed and power still kills Wlad imho. Unrelentless pressure is the other option, but like you said Povetkin will have to tighten up his guard. The pace he set against Chambers with the flu wasn´t too bad. Going by his promotional acts, he must feel very comfortable, just like Haye.

Yes, they both beat one top-10 contender. Of course in the past decades we have had lt.heavyweights with much more success against heavyweights but let's not consider that

I am thinking. Sorry about that

Haye sounds like a guy wanting a pay day to me. I think Povetkin is the real test.

  9. ElTerriblee

Haye is not chopping down guys with chins like Peter or Chagaev. He knows, if he lands one on the button, Wlad will most likely go down. And he´ll be considered the real champ. Honestly he deserves his shot immediately after Povetkin, if Wlad is still champ. I don´t understand why Haye has to prove himself at heavyweight. That he was the undisputed cruiserweight champion should be enough in this heavyweight division.

I'd like to see him fight someone like Virchis first.

Why couldn't he fight even one top-10 contender? Just one? If he'd do that, the fight would become much more interesting too

today was a nice day outside. I'm surprised so many people wasted an hour of if it watching a garbage heavyweight fight.

That is an incredibly stupid thing to say. Vlad has shown that against all mediocre to bad comp he is supreme. This comp has run the gamet from guys Brock's size to guys Thompson's size. Size is not the factor.... suckiness is... Suckiness and the failure of Vlad and his arrogant brother, soon to be trying to complete a strangle hold on the division, to make any exciting fights with guys who can punch hard enough to make a difference.

This guy was never a risk. Despite his size he does not have the punch to turn a fight around. Valuev hits harder and Valuev has gigantism!

Why? That is a dangerous fight for Haye. Unless it is an eliminator I don´t see the point for them to fight. Nobody in the states knows about Virchis, and that he´s a clear cut top ten heavyweight, who is deserving of a title shot. Americans still rank the washed up Rahbum in the top ten.

I just want to see Klit fight someone who's actually trying to win the fight.

    Which Americans rank Has-been Rahman?

I'm just talking about Virchis as level of opponent...and I think it'd be a better fight than some other options being floated around.

Just for you to consider: Calvin Brock against Wlad was 6'2 224 lbs. George Foreman against Joe Frazier was 6'3 1/2 217 lbs. That's your modern day small guy right there.

And please name me someone Wlad should fight. Povetkin is suppoedly next on his list as he just entered the #1 ranking. Apart from that, who is this Mr. Mysterious that Wlad is avoiding. Is it the guy who has had one heavyweight bout?

A povkin fight is horseshit clear and simple. A boring fight that the other guy has shown beyond measure he cannot win barring a miracle. Povkin does not have a punch. He is a young fighter with a few skills and no dy-no-mite. How much more horseshit are people going to feed people who want to see the heavy weight division in boxing?

Fuck it I would rather watch Charlie in his MMA debut for chrissake!

People need to tell Vlad and his brother that bullshit is being called on their crap. Make some fights worth seeint. Haye has dy-no-mite he is dangerous because he can punch. He wants to step up becasue he feels he is ready....GIVE THE KID A CHANCE!!!!!

Please so at the every least when they finally revive Klit at the hospital it will stop the braying of U-go about the size of the average contender.

People wake up!! Klitschko is doing this so him and doofy can be champions of the division together!! There is no concern for making good fights woth people who could actually win.

I'm not saying Wlad isn't the best heavyweight in boxing today, because he is. It's just that he's still not very good. For as much of a non effort as his opponents put up, he should look much better. But at times, Klitchko looks like he struggles to look good against opponents who aren't even trying to win the fight.

Klitchko is lucky he is in the right place at the right time. If he were fighting 15 years ago, he'd be getting KO'd by Alex Garcia on Tuesday Night Fights.

Virchis, Chagaev, Valuev, Ruiz, Povetkin, Haye. Basically the guys, who have some qualities that scare Wladimir. The pinpoint accuracy of Chagaev, the size and power of Virchis, the speed and power of Haye, the relentless pressure and combination punching of a confident gold medalist in Povetkin, the sheer size of Valuev, that has tired out many opponents. Ever since Peter Wlad has fought guys, who posed no offensive threat to him. Byrd and Brewster were totally shot, Thompson and Brock tried for six rounds before falling apart, and Ibragimov didn´t even show up, improving on his shameful performance against Holyfield. Yes on paper it is an impressive run, but I honestly think, that the six guys I mentioned are better than anybody Wlad
has fought since Peter, even Ruiz, who gets all the sh*t for his style, but isn´t much different from Wlad, Hopkins or Hatton.

This is what I disagree in. I agree he looks clumsy but that is not to be confused with not being effetive. Because if it was the way you (and so many others) say, then the 200lbs guys should have taken over long time ago. In fact, they should never have left either.

I love all of these morons who are hyping Haye at HW. The dude has a china chin at cruiser and has proven NOTHING at HW. Let the dude prove himself first. He aint shit.

Struggling to beat sub par fighters who aren't trying to win is hardly effective. It's just being less sucky then his opponent.

Yeah, Tony Thompson is no Enzo Maccarinelli, that's for sure.

  27. ElTerriblee

    ElTerriblee "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Even considering Enzo is a bum, he KTFO Dominguez with one punch, which nobody has ever done. The power he carries, gives him a better shot to beat Wlad than Thompson had. I don´t care if Haye or Enzo will be flat on their back in three rounds, but at least they have a weapon to beat Wlad unlike guys like a shot Byrd, Brewster or a runner like Ibragimov. And we still don´t know what will happen to Haye at heavyweight, maybe his punch resistance will increase a bit, like it did for Chico at lightweight, although it won´t matter against a puncher of Wlad´s calibre.

  28. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Thompson could defend himself and for 5-6 round was competitive with Klitschko. He fought negatively and still lost and was knocked out.

A smaller fighter who fights less defensively probably gets knocked out quicker...so if all you're asking for is a guy with a slim chance to none chance to knock Klitschko out, maybe Haye's your guy.

We'll see how well Haye can defend himself and his chin at heavyweight the longer he stayes there.

  29. ElTerriblee

    ElTerriblee "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Well, or he´ll just blitzkrieg Wlad in Sanders style and it will be all over. I certainly don´t want another negative fucka with no power or guts to work the body for five rounds, keep his hand up and then do NOTHING, but throw an occassional armpunch. Wlad has his "oh shit" face on, and he was ready to cave in AGAIN. I want somebody that is like a shark, when he smells blood, not a vegetarian.

Yes Thompson did good for five rounds, yes Thompson is a decent fighter, yes Thompson would box the shit out of Brewster, but if he doesn´t have the guts or the will to go for broke at age 36 in his only title shot, then don´t bother. He had an window of opportunity in rounds 5 through 8, to really try.
