    Chavez Jr. to retire?
    By Jose Reyes
After Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's controversial split decision win over Matt Vanda on Saturday night, Junior dropped the bombshell that he's considering hanging up his gloves for good. "The people wanted me to score a knockout but I could not," Chavez Jr. told TV AZTECA. "The people are very, very discontented with the result (this as Julio Sr is being booed when trying to calm down the crowd) and what can I tell you? What can I tell you as a fighter? Everything is just very sad....because of the fight....I don't know what to do. I don't know what I will do. I need to think about it real hard. I am considering retirement."

Chavez Jr is worse than I thought. He couldn't even clearly beat Matt Vanda. lol Not only that but he's going to retire over it. What a disgrace.

Yup, another great fighter retires undefeated.

He joins the likes of Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Paul Spadafora.

Real champs like Ricardo Lopez, Paul Spadafora and Chavez Jr. have at least one draw on their record, that shows how tough their opposition truly was. :bears:

He has made plenty of money already just facing bums and build an undefeated record. Why blew all that by facing a real contender or, worst yet, a division title holder that will beat his ass? Smart kid.

I guess your right, if he does retire he's smart. Why get your ass handed to you if you already got money.

I don't like Chavez Jr at all. I'll be disappointed if he retired before receiving a good old fashioned beating.

Jake's pussy little hero is gonna retire. Hey Jake, I thought your pussy hero was gonna "KO all of Hanzy's favourite fighters"?
I told you he was a manufactured joke. This fight proved it. And if he ever dares to step up, he'll die.
He better retire if he knows what's good for him. F*ckin' phoney!

He's disgraced the Chavez name. Mexican warriors don't f*ckin' fight and take easy matches just for money. Look at his old man. A legend. His son is a sham! He wants to quit because he doesn't like the fact that little men are hitting back. And he hasn't even faced a quality opponent yet. LOL!

He was beating Vanda clearly until he started getting tired for no apparent reason. He claims he was sick. It makes sense.

    So suck it, you haters.

Nobody takes this many years and this many fights to step up against even a remotely decent opponent which he still hasn't done. 5 years and he's still feeding off handpicked opposition. This has done him a lot more harm than good IMO.
He's struggling this badly and against who? They've overprotected the guy and f*cked up his career. His stamina and his confidence is not elite level nor will it be. He's finished!

I think it's fucked up the way the crowd reacted.

I didn't watch the fight but even if Chavez Jr. got a gift. Why throw shit at the ring?

Chavez Sr. went up to the ring to calm the crowd and they still didn't respect him. If i'm not mistaken it was Chavez Sr's birthday

fucking assholes don't respect anybody or anything.

I think he should step it down a bit, he should fight opponents with 3 - 18 - 4 records, I mean his father didn't step it up until he had 97 fights?.. ofcourse he was EXPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSED by Pernell eventually, but he still managed to fool the Mexican crowds til this day, whats the rush?..

The crowd wasn't booing who won. They were booing a 100-90 card that bordered on impossible. And it decided the winner.

Even Eugenia would have scored it 99-91.

I do think he should just take it down a notch..

    fight some bums..

if I was his manager I'd find him some real real bums.. but I'd hype them up and create stories about how they did hard time and were boxing champs in prison..

then Jr could steam roll them

after he got like 50 wins and 46 ko's I'd have him retire

Good point...The crowd was pretty fucked up to do what they did. Alcohol was definitely a factor.

I think the crowd booed his draw as well.

Mexican fans are loyal, but they aren't always right in line with their favorite fighters if the scorecards are questionable.

That scorecard deserved to be booed.

    Maybe not the decision, though.

    Junior might not understand that.

Mexican fans care more about integrity and fairness than anything else. Only now are they recognizing their own Chavez Jr for what I always said he was; a product of marketing, a manufactured hype job, a handpicking chump.
They know he's a protected fighter. This chump hasn't stepped up the competition even after all this time, padding his joke of a record with nobody after nobody.

at least hector jr. had some talent taken over by his eating habits.

chavez jr. just isnt exceptionally fast, nor does he have much power. sucks for him. i guess he's better off fighting bums on top rank undercards until his mid 20s.

You think they realized all that last Saturday?

Come on. They support him because he's the son of one of their national legends and by and large will still support him afterwards.

But that doesn't mean they won't voice their opinion on a corrupt scorecard in his favor.

BTW, for 22 years old, I don't think guys like Celaya, Sanchez and Vanda are all that bad of opposition.

It ain't great if he stops there, but for this moment in his young career (if it is sitll young), frankly it's a significant step over where he was entering last year.
