I think the main element that will be EXPOSED in this fight, will be the myth that Cotto is this unstoppable hard headed Marciano-type of squat bulldozer as he bucks upwards like a panicking stallion, cranks into reverse gear, and runs like a hurt bitch as the rounds come to a close,..

With the way bitter Fraud and Cotto groupies have spoken about Antonio, it'll be a tremendous victory just watching Cotto run, like we all know he really will ;) ,...regardless of the decision.

I think Cotto will use the ring and box and pick his spots effectively. Margarito will force him to fight at times, but Cotto will hold his own in that fashion as well with his shorter, quicker, crisp shots. Cotto will take his lumps, eat some of Margarito's uppercuts, maybe get stunned a couple times, but emerge with a UD, 8-4 (twice), and 8-3-1.

 

My pick is Margarito. Are you not counting it for some reason?

Hello? The guy is like 5'8" at best !!! Margarito is at least 4" taller than him and much lankier. You think this won't work to his advantage? The guy is a brave and savage fighter but he's not stupid. He's not going to stand in Cotto's wheel house if he doesn't have to. Margarito knows how to use his height when he has to and does so very effectively. Everyone will see this next week when Cotto is peppered from the outside, forced to bore his way in, and eat obtuse and sick upper-cuts for his trouble.

Also, Cotto's body-punching will be compromised considerably due to Margarito's height advantage. This will be the biggest guy Cotto has ever faced and certainly the most dangerous. He's so over-rated it's hilarious. :laughing:

I will say that all the evidence about how this fight should go points to a cotto decision, because of the way miguel has been working off the back foot.

If he can box evenly/outbox shane mosley even in 2007/2008, he will havee no problems moving and outboxing margarito.

The key to this fight, and for those who I've talked to in depth about this fight, some like Ike have done a 180 on it and now agree that Cotto will win, but the key is that Margarito is VERY slow.

He's a big target for Cotto, he's slow handed, and he's in for a beating of some fashion, depending on the flow of the fight.
