To Cotto this is just one more opponent, one more fight. For Margarito this is the fight of his life! He's very hungry while cotto seems merely content. I am worried...

I wouldn't be concerned about that. Every fight to Cotto is just 'one more opponent'.

Maybe Miguel would feel more comfortable with Donald Curry training him.

I think so too. Cotto just looks too strong. Nothing saw of Magarito in that countown led me to believe that he is going to do damage to miguel. Even his trainer's game plan is ridiculous

Based on his physical conditioning Cotto has taken this fight very seriously, but I see your point. It has me worried as well.

I wouldn't be too nervous knippy, you know what rings a bell about this count down?..It's the fact that Cotto has long eye lashes, carefully plucked eyebrows, and lips that pout with effeminent ease, if Margarito cannot hear the jostling of Cotto's beads, then I know for a fact that he's too much of a gentleman for this sideshow,..:crying:

Not to be a downer here, but this countdown show was the worst one that I can remember. Usually, even if I know 100% of the stroylines heading into the fight, the countdown show still gets me fired up for the fight. This one didn't come close, and it's a shame because this is a fight 99% of even casual fans are dying for.

The only real insight we got was in respect to Margarito losing his brother, which I am sure a good portion of fans had not heard about previously. But the situation with Cotto's uncle didn't dive deep enough, so those of us who follow the sport didn't learn anything we didn't already know.

I know that those shows are produced for the casual fan, the ones who might be on the fence about buying the show next weekend.... but still, as far as leaving me fired up for the fight ahead, this one fell way short.

They should go back to showing more recent fight clips and having the opponents talk about their opposition (even if they aren't going to talk shit, like these two won't). I mean, they showed Margarito watching tape of Cotto from his couch, they could have at least had him break it down a little bit.

Still looking forward to the fight, but I give the countdown show a C-.

I understand what you're saying. The show offered some interesting tidbits, but for the most part it wasn't unlike an advertised suspense movie that ultimately lacks suspense. I watched, waiting for the show to go somewhere, and before I knew it 30 minutes have passed by.

There are others that were far worse - Floyd-Baldomir, Hopkins-Wright, Pac-Barrera II are on the bottom of my list, perhaps DLH-Forbes as well. But I felt like the countdown special was done for the sake of making a countdown special - which would actually be fitting, considering the stink Arum made over HBO's initial decision to not air one.

REED Knows he's Talked MORE Shit about Margarita than Any Other Poster, but REED wants to Make it CLEAR that he has NATHAN Against dude, PERSONALLY...

How COULD U Have Beef w/the Guy, After Hearing him Speak about his Deceased Brother???...

MORESO, there's Something UNDENIABLY "Honest" about Margarita's Style...He's NOT the Most Talented Guy in the World, so he DOESN'T Get in the Ring Trying to Pussyfoot Around...He Does WHAT he Can w/WHAT he Has...& that's ADMIRABLE to a Certain Degree...

REED's Problem w/Margarita has ALWAYS Been this Perception that he's OWED Something, that Elite Fighters AVOID him & that he's Some Type of Indestructible FORCE...

    He ISN'T...

REED Felt Compelled to Let it B Known that He DOESN'T Have Anything PERSONAL Against Margarita...It's just that he's Gonna Get the Living Shit BEATEN Out him & STOPPED N the 9th Round...

Oh yeah, Winky-Hopkins WAS bad.... I'd forgotten about that one. Funny though, I kinda liked DLH-Forbes. I mean, the fight itself was nonsense but the 30 minute show was actually decent, I thought, for what they had to work with.

I totally agree. Margarito is a hard fighter to dislike. If I am being honest, I'd have to say that I am rooting against him for primarily the same reasons you are: namely that I do not want to see all the people that contribute to the Margarito hype machine be justified with a win oer Cotto.

To be honest, I never gave DLH-Forbes countdown a chance since I thought it was completely unnecessary to begin with.

Hopkins-Wink was probably the absolute worst. Floyd-Baldomir and Pac-Barrera II were bad in that you can feel the agenda being shoved down your throat, to where you didn't believe anyone on the show in claiming they expected a competitive fight.

Well he sure had your little bitch Fairyweather running scared for years. Fruityweather took on Bumdomir instead of facing margarito.
Saturday night we see a real fight between 2 warriors. 2 guys whom Fakeweather wanted NOTHING to do with. You'll see a real fight, not that shoulder roll tip tap running away sh*t Fagweather does in every fight, boring people to death.
Fakeweather retired because he's a chicken sh*t afraid of fighting real fighters in their primes like Cotto and Margarito.
The reason you hate Margarito is cause he had your bitch running scared for years.

Come on Hanzy, Baldomir was THE man at 147 when Floyd fought him.

That's what Floyd fans willl say, but in reality Margarito would beat the living shit out of Baldomir.

Any real boxing fan knew for a fact that Baldomir was the WW champion. :dunno:

Had nothing to do with Floyd. Not for me anyway.

^^^ agREED. And no matter which way he went, Floyd was in a no-win situation. If he went after Margarito, he'd have been criticized for not pursuing "the real" welterweight title. But because he took similar money for Baldy, he was accused of ducking Tony.

For what it's worth, Baldomir flat out rejected the idea of a Margarito fight following his knockout over Gatti when asked at the post-fight presser. I wasn't there, but most post-fight reports offered would suggest that nobody batted an eyelash.

Also noteworthy was that Baldomir rejected a Mayweather fight in favor of Gatti, believing he could ultimately up the ante or at least squeeze out an extra seven-figure payday. That's how Floyd-Judah came about.

Anyway, back to the guys who are still fighting...

He was also an underdog to Arturo Gatti.

    The champion, he was.

    Respected, he wasn't.
