Both of the dominated equally. Both did what they needed to do for their pound 4 pound status.

Well the difference in this case is Fedor fought a top 10 heavyweight(based on results) and a 2 time UFC heavyweight champion. Anderson fought a bum who was only there really as a last minute filler for a free Spike show that would run against the Affliction ppv.
Good results for both though but still. Who the f*ck is James Irvin?

Hey that guy did knocked out houston in one punch. But still when yo have something like this. A TV card that was actually just put together in order to compete against Affliction. And the whole show, the announcers kept referring to him as the P4P best fighter in MMA, usually something doesnt go as planned. Even a bad performance, yet still a win by Silva would have been against the plans. But Silva delivered. Not only did he deliver, he made what Irvin do to Alexander look like a baby tap. That was one of the best punches i have ever seen.

Anderson Silva wants to fight at 205 AND defend the title at 185. At 33 years of age, I wonder if this gain/loss in weight will do him any good over the long run.
I think he needs to stick to 1 weightclass. If I had a choice, it should be 205 because of much bigger and better matches. 185 is garbage now!
205, we have Anderson vs Wanderlei/Rampage/Forrest/Shogun/Chuck/Machida/Bisping/possibly even Tito Ortiz.
There's a lot of great ppv fights there, lots of money to be made. At 185, there's nothing left.

Dunno if Rampage is an option anymore

REED Thinks Irvin was a Good APPETIZER for the 205lb Division...

@ the Very Least, he was Supposed to "Test" Silva, which Didn't Happen...

I agree with the word "appetizer" . Although aside from the couple of quick knockouts that Irvin has had, he is definately B-Level. I wish Silva would stay at 205, this is a much better division for him to prove himself.

The fight was a joke, Reed. How you gonna explain Anderson with like 25 mma fights in his career going up a division and fighting some bum named James Irvin while the same UFC organizers are putting Brock Lesnar in there in ONLY HIS SECOND MMA FIGHT EVER against a former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir?
Anderson's fight with Irwin was only a last second thing they did to compete with Affliction's ppv. Irwin is a nobody and his best win was over that other clown "flavour of the month" Houston Alexander.
Anderson's great but the real tests are yet to come.

Irvin is hardly a nobody. The guy is a better than average fighter, with pretty good stand-up. He's a dead set KO puncher and thats always a factor to consider when you weigh up fighters.

That said, he's not a ranked 205'er and probably won't ever be and has a pretty suspect beard. Silva did what he was supposed to do, but even still, SO many fighters fail at these kinds of challenges. Even the best.

Silva is a great fighter. Irvin, significantly less than that. Still an impressive performance.

Thats exactly how I see it. Irvin did possess a KO punch and Silva dealt with him with ease. Now people are saying that Silvas competition at middle weights isn't great but the same could be said about about Fedor and the HWs.

Although Wanderlei is borderline shot, i'd like to see him take on Anderson. I think it would be entertaining for as long as it lasts.

Irvin may not be a top 10 fighter, but he's certainly a better fighter then Hong Man Choi or Zuluzinho.

Anderson Silva is an awesome fighter. My honest opinion, he will own the 205 belt soon.

Fedor is unbelievable. There is absolutely no one in the UFC that could beat him.

When Joe Rogan and Dana White say that Silva is the hands down worlds P4P best fighter in the world and anyone who disagrees doesn't know shit about fighting, they sound stupid. Most know they are in a round about way taking a shot a Fedor, and they sound like dumbfuck homers.

The thing is, the UFC middleweight division sucks, pretty much every fighters who are a threat to Silva dont fight in it, who is Silva gonna fight, Cote ???? That's not the stuff p4p king are made off.

If we're going to compare p4p methods and boxing, Fraud was actually PROMOTED to p4p supremecy in the midst of his 5 year drought between 2002 - 2007 where he fought,...FUCK ALL.............Fedor is displaced at the top,...all pretty much because Dana White doesn't like him.

Not because Dana doesn't like him. It hurts Danas ego because Fedor isn't part of Danas organization.
