I think I've lost a little bit of the confidence in my pick now that Teddy Atlas, the Kiss of Death, has picked Cotto.

I did not make a pick, and I do not feel confident that Margarito is going to win, but REED is SO overconfident that I would love to see him be wrong.

This all stems from my Floyd fan hate, not any Puerto Rican hate in case that is what you're getting at.

What malarky have I posted? REED acts like Margarito is a club fighter - he won't give him any credit at all. I've certainly not tried to give that impression when it comes to Cotto.

All I'm doing is making the case for a Margarito victory. And I've already said that if Cotto wins he deserves all the credit in the world (and I'll be very surprised too).

Oh,so Teddy Kellerman has officially picked Cotto??:bears:

I can't help but think about the Cintron fight and how Margarito stopped the bandwagon straight in it's tracks for him. I don't see that happening here, but it could very well be a close fight.

I will go with the "Fightbeat" upset and pick Margarito by Decision!

Re-read your posts in this thread dude... Seriously, you downgrade Cotto's opposition and victories, you tell us that he pretty much can't win legitimately, or he'll have wussed out, stuff like that. Yeah, that sounds like an objective and balanced opinion.

After a few rounds the fight will be a mismatch...first few will be close...until Cotto body shots start having an effect on Margarito...Cotto will be landing the left hook to the body often while Margarito misses with the looping right hand...Cotto height disadvantage will be good body shots will land better on Margarito....while Margarito money punch for this fight is/should be the uppercut..let see if he can land it often enough....

    WAR COTTO.......in 10 brutal rounds....for MARGARITO...

    So Margarita's a Master of DECEPTION Now???...

Clottey WAS "Picking him Apart" EARLY N that Fight...Ditto for Paul Williams...Was Margarita "Tricking" Williams by "Allowing" him to Run Away w/the 1st Half of the Bout???:dunno:...

U're Telling REED There's an Actual "Method" to Margarita's ATROCIOUS Defense????...That's by DESIGN, Huh???...

Cintron was "Befuddled" Cause his Power was USELESS Against Margarita...& w/Out his POWER, Cintron is a BELOW Average Fighter...

SPARE REED all this PSUEDO Keen Eye BULLSHIT, Doub...Margarita ISN'T Nearly as Complicated or "Tricky" as U're Portraying him...It's Posts like THIS that Make REED Want to See this Guy Get BRUTALLY Exposed...

While Clottey and Williams managed to win rounds, neither of them were picking Margarito apart. That's just an outright misrepresentation of what occurred.

And by the way, I'd love to see a Cotto/Williams fight or a Cotto/Clottey fight. Neither of the outcomes to those matchups are anywhere close to being foregone conclusions. And that's not a knock on Cotto - it's a testament to the fact that Williams and Clottey are two of the best welterweights in the game right now.

well it's true he hasn't accomplished "that" much at 147 to be considered the monster that everyone seems to think he is.

his sole impressive opponent was Mosley and he barely beat him - some even claim he lost that fight and there's no denying that it was very close.

Other than that? Quintana I guess was a decent win but I can't see him beating Cintron. And he just got pounded in his last fight making that win a lot less shiny than it had been.

And Judah at 147 just isn't a factor. He's done nothing there but fold.

I think there's a difference between calling a fighter unproven and referring to him as a skill-less bull-dog.

You have your doubts and it's alright. But you seem way more critical of Cotto's resume than you are of Margarito's. I guess everything will be settled on saturday, hopefully you'll be here to boast or to eat your crow.

Oh, and BTW, I think there's nothing arguable about Cotto's win over Mosley. It was clear, and no case can be made for Mosley, 7-5 is the closest I'd consider, and even there I think that's giving Mosley every close round.

At 147, Margarito's resume is indeed more impressive than Cotto's IMO.

U've Used that Same PATHETIC "Logic" Against Floyd, IGNORING the Fact that Floyd BEGAN His Career Several Weight Classes LOWER than 147...

Fact is, Floyd's Resume SHITS on Margarita's, just as Cotto's Does...

Cotto has wins over Mosley, Judah, and Quintana.

Phony has Cintron, Clottey, and a LOSS to Williams.

Yet Phony's resume is more impressive?

Size and stance have never been considered in this discussion. All of Margarito´s losses have come against southpaws, who were taller and/or bigger than Margarito. Meanwhile all of the impressive Cotto wins have come against fighters, who have moved up to 147 themselves like Shane Mosley, Zab Judah or Oktay Urkal. This will be the first time Cotto might struggle to impose himself on the other fighter at 147. Margarito will be the hardest and most consistent puncher Cotto has ever faced, and Margarito has proven that he´ll rarely let somebody of the hook,if he hurts them. I think Margarito is a stylistic nightmare for Cotto.

REED should be rooting for Margarito. Should he win Mayweather could have an excuse to avoid every single fighter at 147 and stay retired.

    Cotto lost to Margarito
    Margarito lost to William
    Williams lost to quintana
    Cintron lost to Margarito twice.
Mosley lost to Cotto who lost to Margarito.

I could go on and on! The excuses are never ending.

Nothing to fear. Double picks Margarito, thats all that matters. As soon as he made that pick, they might as well have written in a win for Cotto in the books, no need for the fight.

I think people are gonna be disappointed. I think Cotto will make this look easy now that the fight is upon us. I think he'll outbox Margarito pretty easily, maybe a rough moment here and there but for the most part, it'll be a schooling.

    Cotto via UD.
