And your opinion of if it was because they punked out or not.

ODLH against Mosley 1. - Punked out

Margarito against P. Williams - Punked out

Hamed against MAB - Maybe the biggest punk out in boxing history

interesting topic. i didnt know that margarita had a rematch clause with williams! that is strange he didnt go for it... maybe he knew that the cotto fight would materialize despite the fact that his dumbass lost. pisses me right off, i felt that if marg beat williams it would have made this fight even better and bigger going in. you see margarita before the fight saying that he doesnt think williams does anything special good job idiot you lost to a guy who "doesn't do anything special"

i can't think of any other examples at the moment. i know one guy who SHOULD have punked out of his rematch clause was Floyd Patterson against Liston.

and on the flipside, you have Shane Mosley and Jermain Taylor who both INSISTED on immediate rematches when no one thought they should take them.

    Those guys deserve mucho credit.

that had EVERYTHING to do with it - that and even though he wanted to rematch Williams, it wouldn't have taken place until 2008; Arum damn sure wasn;t going to put it on the Cotto-Mosley undercard.

It was discussed though, just that HBO said there were no more available dates in '07, which prompted Arum to instead build towards the Cotto-Tony matchup we have this weekend.

All due respect, but anyone who claims Tony "punked out" of a rematch is speaking way outta turn.

I thought Margarito had planned on facing williams again but Williams took the the Quintana fight in between and lost.

Or did Margarito already say he wasn't going to take the rematch before the Quintana fight?

Yeah, I was speaking out my ass. When it was time to list punk or not I more or less just guessed.

Do you think Margarito will fight Williams after the Cotto fight win or lose? I imagine that's a rematch he'd want to avenge.

He wasn't the champion, but Tyson had a clause in the contract for another Lewis fight.

Nah, Williams had to sit on the shelf the rest of the year, due to a lack of premium dates. That's when Margarito decided to go in another direction, which in effect led Williams to go a different route as well once Plan A fell through.

Plan B was actually to fight Kermit Cintron, but Kermit pulled out after injuring his hand in the Feliciano fight. From there, it was Zab, Quintana and a third welterweight (either Collazo or Clottey, I forget which), and in the end Quintana the only one coming up with a reasonable purse demand.

Since McClellan is BLIND, he Can't Re-Watch the Fight & it's DOUBTFUL that he even Remembers it...

But he DOES have @ Least 25% of his HEARING left...

Surely, SOMEBODY has Told him How Much of a BITCH he was for Not Exercising his RE Clause w/Benn...

& While REED is Thinking about it, Benny Paret is even MORE of a BITCH than McClellan...

@ Least McClellan is Still LIVING & Could Potentially Get a RE...Paret WUSSED OUT & Died, Giving Himself an EXCUSE to DUCK Emile Griffith Forever...
