What are you talking about? He is a 185lbs fighter, he is the champ at 185. Are you saying Dana is going to force him to stay at 205?

Does anybody see something wrong with one man playing both the promoter and the manager role?

The LAST Thing Dana White Needs to Do is Play HARDBALL w/Anderson Silva...Dana's ALREADY Alienating More & MORE Fighters, but Silva DOESN'T Need to Become 1 of them...

As MUCH as White has MARKETED Silva as "The Best Fighter in the World, Lb 4 Lb", the LAST Thing he Needs to Do is FRACTURE that Relationship...It's Bad Enough Dana WOULDN'T Allow a Silva-Roy Jones Fight, a Fight that Silva WANTED...

If Silva Fights 3-4 Times a Year, 1 of those Can B @ 205...That Seems Fair to REED...It'd B DIFFERENT if White was Offering Silva a TITLE SHOT @ 205, but he ISN'T...He Probably Wants Silva to Work his Way Up Thru the Rankings...

I couldn't agree more. I personally don't think Dana really wants Silva knocking off Griffin. Griffin is a marketable guy. There is no sense wasting Silva's popularity in a division (205) that is already populated with well-know and loved guys.

That being said, Dana would be smart to let Anderson dictate.

I wonder how long Silva's contract is with UFC.

It would be funny if he jumped ship. I guess that would mean BJ Penn would be the new "Best in the World P4P".

I don't think Silva is a huge draw in itself, he needs a marquee opponent to attract casual fans, and in the UFC at 185 they are no more left for him, the UFC would like it much more if he stays at 205

I don't know about that. If the number of viewers that watched the Spike show Saturday are accurate, I'd say Silva attracts fans.

The UFC's 185 division is dead though...I didn't think it was that great when he signed with the UFC but its really dead now.

I don't think White is hell bent on Silva fighting at 205 by any means. I think he thinks it would make for good business, since there are a ton of big money fights for him at 205, and Silva moving up would help either build a 'new' star in the 185 division with a new champ, or allow a current star, Rich Franklin, to be a PPV headliner again, if he regained the belt.

And the talk of Dana White 'alienating' fighters is way overstated. Other then Couture, what meaningful UFC fighters has he pissed off? Tito Ortiz? The same Ortiz that still wants to be treated as one of the top fighters in the world, even though he's far from it? Some nobody like Kalib Starnes?

For every fighter that wants out of the UFC, there are 50 that would give their left nut for just an opportunity to fight for them.

Isn't Franklin moving up to 205? I thought I read that he's scheduled to face Matt Hamill at LHW.

My problem is that 205 is packed without Franklin and Silva. However, Silva-Machida is the fight I'd most like to see at 205... Lyoto will be champion if he gets a chance.

I'm sure he would. No elite MMA fighter is gonna beat an elite boxer in a boxing match, just as no elite boxer would beat an elite MMA fighter in an MMA fight.

There aint no way that Dana is pissing in Silva's cornflakes the guy is too good a draw for the UFC. The LHW division is already stacked and doesn't really need a another star like Silva

Rich Franklin will be kicking himself after moving to get away from Silva

BTW I think Silva beats the majority of the LHW's anyway.

I don't get this thread. Anderson is a 185lbs fighter. He's not "moving down" He moved up for ONE FIGHT. Why on earth would Dana not let him defend his title?

List your top MW's from any org. I'm not saying the UFC has the best MW division. I'm just curious as to who you think are the top MW's.

Well, personally I like the Hendersons, Franklins, and Bispings of the UFC.

But guys like Cung Le, Robbie Lawler and Filho are all top 10 MW's that are outside the UFC. In my opinion anyway..

You can throw Frank Shamrock in there too. I'd like to see him back in the UFC. I think he may be done though, he's more interested in running around calling himself a legend instead of fighting.

What the hell is Cung Le doing? He hasn't fought since Shamrock. Is he ever going to fight again?

He dropped down, theres a lot of talent at 185, just not in the UFC ( apart from Henderson and Fraklin wich Silva already beaten ), Akiyama, Manhoff, Cung Le, and Moussasi would all be good match for Silva, Lawler would be decent, Bisping may be a good match in the future too, but right now, in the UFC at 185lbs, there is no one who could beat him save maybe Henderson in a rematch ( but hes getting up in age ).
