Those were REED's EXACT Words, the Moment a BLOODIED Up, Physically MANHANDLED Miguel Cotto Got STOPPED by the Very UNremarkable Antonio Margarita...

If REED Hadn't SEENT it w/his Own Eye's, he WOULDN'T Believe it...

The SAD Thing is, it was APPARENT that Cotto was on the Verge of Being Stopped a Couple Rounds EARLIER than he Actually Was...REED Said by the 5th-6th Round, the Fight would Become 1-Sided & it Certainly Was...

Only it was Margarita who was DOMINATING...

If U're Gonna B Wrong B SPECTACULARLY WRONG as REED was:lol:...What can REED Say???...Margarita was EVERYTHING his Supporters SAID he was, Against THE BEST Opponent he's Ever Faced...

Bottom Line, he WHIPPED Cotto's Ass...From the 6th Round On, the BEST REED Could Give Cotto was a Possible EVEN Round (the 9th)...Simply Put, He Got WAXED...The Type of WAXING that he May NOT B Able to Reverse N a RE...

Margarita was EVERY BIT as EASY to Hit as REED Predicted, but Cotto COULDN'T Faze him @ All...Even when he Landed Combo's, they Did NO Damage...Margarita "Felt" Cotto Out N the 1st, then he KEPT Cotto N REVERSE the Remainder of the Fight...

PROPS to Margarita...REED would B a FOOL to Suggest he WASN'T IMPRESSED Last Night...REED most Certainly WAS...REED will Even ADMIT what's Now OBVIOUS...Margarita is Most Certainly an ELITE Welterweight...Probably ALWAYS Was...

But Having Said That, he's STILL a LIMITED Fighter, Fellas...So Let's CURB the Enthusiasm just a Bit...He's NOT a GREAT or HISTORIC Fighter N Any Regard :nono:....But he IS an ELITE Welter N his Particular Era...

As for the Floyd Angle, REED Thinks he SHOULD "Unretire" & Face Margarita...REED's Opinion HASN'T Changed...Floyd would BEAT Margarita in a BORING, PITTY PATTING, NON-Fan Friendly Affair...Cotto DIDN'T have the Legs to STICK & MOVE as Looooooooong as he Needed to, but Floyd Does...

Floyd would NEVER Hurt Margarita, but he'd Keep TURNING Margarita while Landing FLUSH (if Unspectacular) Shots...

Anyways, Let REED HAVE It...Serve that CROW Up w/Fries, a Cold BREW & BBQ Sauce...REED's Definitely EARNED the BRUNT of Margarita Lovers...Kauki, Joony, Doub, Brother DAZED, Z, Mitchell Kane & Whoever else REED "Musta Forgot"...

PM the Sig, Doub...REED'll Start Rocking it Monday Morning, Dog...

Put REED in the ring with Margarito and watch Tony pound on him and scream, "what's my name."

Sorry for the delay fellas. I cosign on what Reed says in the first part, namely that Margarito suprised me against Cotto. Let me state specifically the whole affair because there are some points in both directions:

    a) I always felt like Margarito's ability was an unknown variable because he had not beaten a first tear guy and I think that remains reasonable... He beat Cotto, he has crossed that bridge he is an elite guy. I don't hold myself in cotempt for that opinion. Fair is fair.

    b) I am learning this game and I am beginning to realize how wrong I can be about weights and relative size in the lower divisions. I still think a decent heavy can win at 220 and above if they are naturally big, but in the lower divisions I profess a profound ignorance regarding how much size influences outcome.

In this case I knew there would be serious problems in this fight for Cotto(check my post about the relative size issue). he was so much smaller than Margarito and this bothered me. From now on when I see somethng like this developing I will change my opinion. Margarito dwarfed Cotto.

Finally I really am questioning the whole way Floyd versus Williams would play out. Williams and Margarito do not appear to be made to fight the likes of Floyd and Margarito. They do not look like they belong in the same division, size wise.

BUT.... Cotto could have pepeared differently and he got beat and I was wrong, props to Margarito. Margarito showed he is an elite guy with no caveats.

NO..that will be Miguel Cotto...Santos/Williams might have giving him tougher fights..but i don't remember Margarito asking his corner in between rounds..what round was it...and if he was winning...Cotto got busted up in the last 2-3 rounds..but he was landing the cleanest shot anyone has landed on Margarito...

    Yep...

Going Thru Some of the Other Threads, REED is Now REEDing about Margarita's "Underrated Defense" which is Complete BULLSHIT:boohoo:...

Cotto Landed WHENEVER he Wanted to...2 Piece Combo's, 3 Piece, 4 Piece, U NAME it...Cotto just Couldn't HURT or DETER Margarita....

Margarita's Defense was EVERY BIT as POROUS as REED & Others SAID it was, but Dude's CHIN & DETERMINATION Circumvented the Defensive FLAWS...He's as TOUGH & BALLSY as they Come, No Doubt...But Please DON'T Portray this Guy as Some "Defensive" Specialist, Cause Margarita Most Certainly ISN'T...

A LARGE Part of what BEAT Cotto was Margarita's RESPONSE to his Shots...Or LACK Thereof, as REED Should Say...There's NATHAN Worse than Being N the Ring w/a Guy who CONTINUES to WALK your Ass Down, AFTER U've Drilled him Over & OVER w/your BEST Shit...

Cotto Got Beat Physically AND Mentally...

Reed, I said last week that if Floyd and Margarito ever got it on, you'd not be as confident as you're acting. After last night, I know for sure you'd crap yourself in fear of your boy Floyd if that fight was ever made.

for a guy pressuring about 90 % of the time, margaritos defense was not as terrible as reed portrays. he avoided some shots and did some crafty things on the inside

    Bullshit, Neil...

WHENEVER Cotto STOPPED Moving, Planted his Feet & FIRED @ Margarita, he LANDED...AT WILL...2-3 AND 4 Punch Combo's...He just COULDN'T Hurt Margarita even SLIGHTLY...

Margarita RARELY, if Ever, Attempted to DUCK ANY of the Incoming...In Fact, he USUALLY Just BRACED himself for Whatever Cotto was Throwing @ him...

Last Night was a GREAT Win, but SPARE REED All this "Defensive" Shit...That's BOGUS...

Margarita OUTMANNED Cotto...Simple as That...He "FELT" Cotto Out N Round 1, then DISrespected Cotto's Ability to Hurt him the Rest of the Fight...Margarita WASN'T the Least Bit Concerned w/Defense after the 1st Stanza...& Considering his CHIN, Margarita OBVIOUSLY Had NOfuckingREASON to B...

Reed i have to agree with you i just watched it again just to see WTF happened,Cotto threw some shots that landed that i am 100% sure a huge percent of welters would have gotten KTFO by.

Marg felt him out for a round and a half because in round 2 he got hit with an uppercut by Cotto that would have dropped a freight train.
He smiled as if to say ITS OVER.he the upped the pressure you can clearly see Cotto really start to back peddle from there on. I also counted 1 body shot by Cotto in rd1 and 8 by Marg so it was obvious that Cotto was trying to just out box Marg no body work was in the plan.
Marg just kept the accelarator on ever so slowly upping the tempo AND THROWING SOME SERIOUS BODY SHOTS T COTTO and really backing Cotto up,in return Cotto did not go back to the body he just keept boxing and got spent.

He shot his load in 6 rounds and since Marg just gets better in the 2nd half he beat his ass and stopped him.

The major difference in the fight was the quality of Antonio's CHIN...

Cotto toyed with Antonio for four (at least) of the first six rounds; inviting him in and picking him off with quick, powerful combos as Margarito came in trying to cut off the ring.

The problem for Miguel was that he couldn't put so much as a dent on Antonio's chin.

Even after Cotto was, by all accounts, 4-2 up in rounds at the sixth, Margarito was unmarked and Cotto was bloodied, cut around the eye and starting to tire. He was in the fight but it was starting to fall away from him.

As Mike Dave said- you could have landed a jumbo jet on the chin of Antonio Margarito last night and he would not have fallen. Once Cotto realised this, his spirit sagged and his stamina failed him.

That was where this fight was won or lost.

    MTF
