calderon was fortunate enough to get the decision in his home country. i expect a similar result unless cazares knocks him out.

there was nothing fortunate about it. IB gave him a boxing lesson for most of the fight. he made it a bit of a track meet after the KD, but still won the fight with room to spare.

hugo fought guardia in his last fight for no other reason than to better acclimate to southpaws. he looked decent in that fight, but was closer to flyweight than 108. much like the first fight, weight will once again be a major concern.

i thought it was a very close fight. calderon doesnt land or hit hard enough to win rounds decisively.

not even sure why he has a following. he's a smoother/mini version of cory spinks w/ garbage punching power. i hope he gets KOed.

Jake weight was a issue in the first fight. Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt Cazares have at least 15-20 pounds on Calderon? Do you know if Calderon put any stipulation on his weight gain for the rematch?

    the weight was ridiculous

Calderon was small at 105 and was again small at 108

fucking Cazares was 130 the night of the fight

clearly Cazares should not be figthing at any of the flyweights

Who gives a shit. Cazares makes the weight so that's all that really matters. If Cazares happens to hurt Calderon this time hopefully they are a little more strict on the holding and if I remember right Calderon tackled him as well.

 It's Iron-boy's time to shine!!!!!...hell-yeah iron boy!!!!,... the poor little microscopic bastard is carrying the weight of eyes into this fight, and when your that tiny, even a stare can be enough to trip you over. The broadcaster, whomever it may be can expect an extraordinarily high rating for a 'mims' fight, probably the best ever .

Ivan Calderon should be able to win the rematch. But he needs to be very careful not to tire late or get caught. He has the talent to beat Cazares but when your opponent has this type of size advantage you gotta be very careful.

who cares? how about the guy in the ring risking his life? fighting at 108 and steping into the ring at 130 is a fucking mismatch.

funny though I've seen you rip other fighters who you think are too big for a weight class even though they make weight.

but since your biased and always talk shit about Calderon it doesnt' surprise me that your ok with such a weight mismatch.

Cazares fucking admitted after their fight that he was moving up to 112 because he was too big. The guy should man up and fight people his size.

Instead of giving Calderon props for fighting this featherweight twice you talk shit about him.

In the end what Cazarez does is within the rules and if anything it weakens him later in the fight. It's ironic though because I have seen you taking up for weight felons before, that's why I posted what I did. :atu: Talk shit about Calderon? Actually it's just the truth. When he was hurt he tackled the ankles of Cazarez, held and ran. He won the fight clearly but should have been penalized.

sounds like cazarez pulled an arce. no one has been more felonious than him in recent times. I remember seeing him drunk as fuck in vegas lookin at least 130lbs a week before he defended his title in mexico @ 108lbs

I agree. I think this time Calderon will beat Cazares easier than the first time. I just watched a video on primerahora.com (Puerto Rican News) and Ivan is working to be more resistant. I think he's working hard on conditioning. Let's not forget Calderon also was able to stun Cazares a few times in the first fight.:crafty:

Calderon made it very clear that he's not over confident. He said over confidence can be your worst enemy!

    WAR CALDERON!!!!

calderon is a bit long in the tooth for his size. he's like what, 32, 33 years old? that's pretty old for a jr. flyweight.

i'm hoping cazares knocks him out this time around, but i'd give calderon all the credit in the world if he wins this one w/o any controversy.

Calderon by easy UD. Will box circles around Cazares. Watch for a frustrated Cazares fouling out of desperation.

I agree I see Calderon taking it by a easy UD. However the size advantage of Cazares worries me. I think after a win in the rematch Calderon would seriously consider retirement or fight a few more fights. If he does retire (correct me if I'm wrong) he will be the first champion out of Puerto Rico that retires undefeated.

Yup, people forget this...Calderon is getting quite up there in age for a lower-division fighter.

I think I had the fight 7-4-1 for Calderon but there were a few close rounds - agree with you it was close (but clear IMHO).

I'm not that convinced Calderon "boxes circles around Cazares" as some are saying. Cazares showed he could adjust to Calderon as the rounds went on, and he's going to try to start earlier and shorten his punches and really be aggressive.

    Peace.

I just watched the fight again and Calderon was boxing circles around Cazares. It was when Calderon got caught (in the 8th round)was when Cazares was able to catch up to him. So I wouldnt say Cazares was able to adjust. Calderon was also slowing down to wards the end of the fight so it made things more competetive. Calderon should win the rematch but when you have a guy like Cazares a fight can end with 1 punch.

Guaynabo is said that in the gym is where you win fights. But for the world champion Ivan Calderon, the time it devotes to the morning racing is as important as the work of the gym, especially when they usually use every inch of the ring during a bout.

For the commitment of August 30 with the Mexican Hugo Cazares, Calderon has given special attention to their cardiovascular conditioning to achieve the highest possible condition.:bears:

If Cazares shows up on fight night at 130 again I'm sure he will be dangerous again.

seriously that dude has no business fighting at 108. Mad props to Calderon for fighting him twice.

I agree, Cazares is going to have a big size advantage. Calderon does not have a stipulation this time on Cazares weight. Ivan pointed out in a recent interview that Cazares can come in as heavy as he wants fightnight because the heavier he is the slower he will be.

    WAR CALDERON!!!!:hammert:

i watched this fight again the other day and again, i thought it was a very very close fight. could've gone either way. a 6-6 (win for cazares w/ the knockdown) or a 7-5 (a point win for calderon) type fight.

I hope IB has one more good performance in him to beat Hugo. He is ancient ofr a lil guy and his wheels seemed to betray him a bit in their first fight but something tells me this one will be more of a schooling on IB's part and he wins going away 8-4 or 9-3
