Fight Margarito! :kidcool: And I mean FIGHT him. Not that tippy tap sh*t running around giving his back like a bitch bullsh*t. None of that Bumdomir crap. Go and Fight Margarito and knock him the f*ck out! Then Floyd is the MAN!

I'm giving you my word Reed. Now IS the time for Floyd to fight Margarito at 147. The fight can't get no bigger than today. I'm making it easy for Floyd too. F*ck the titles, f*ck having to clean out the division, etc. Just go and take on margarito, meet him in the center of the ring and take his ass down.....then Floyd is the ruler of the world!

    :laughing::laughing:

    Ridiculous Post...

That's like Asking Margarita to Use his Height & Reach to Maintain DISTANCE, Use his FOOTWORK & OUTBOX Floyd...

Or Better Yet, Actually Asking Margarita to Play DEFENSE...

U DO Realize that Prizefighting is about Maximizing your STRENGTHS, Don't U???...

The Mere FACT that U Expect Floyd to Stand & TRADE w/a MUCH Larger, STRONGER Man, Tells REED that U'll NEVER B Impressed w/ANYTHING Floyd Does...

Just as REED Suspected All Along...

Well I just guess I'll never be a Floyd lover then. It's one thing to go and face Margarito but to avoid him period is a bitch move. At least if Floyd goes and fights him and wins in a bitch fashion, I can still say "Well at least Floyd fought him and won, even if it was boring, he still fought him and won."
The fact that he won't even look in margaritio's direction and retired is pretty pathetic in my view.

the hatton win proved to be one of his most memorable/impressive wins i thought. 140 or 147, it doesnt really matter.

he might not have gone out on top, but in all honesty, is that even possible?

if pavlik were to have KOed sturm, winky, and everyone else in the division except for abraham, and then decided to retire, i guess that would mean that he didnt go out on top as well.

it's also fair to say that floyd was PERCEIVED AS THE BEST by the time he had already left.

who, besides Double L had anyone ranked above mayweather? look at all the magazines, websites and whatever, you would've found mayweather in the 147 pound ranks soon after he defeated judah and baldomir.

not much has changed since cotto (who could've been the #1 guy after he beat mosley) since he got beat up by a guy which most of you haters perceived to be some ordinary bum.

Yeah, but also look at where Margarito, Williams, Cotto and Mosley were back when Mayweather earned that status atop the division.

Everybody knows the story with Margarito back in 2006, he was offered to Mayweather, but Cotto and Mosley weren't even in the division (Cotto hadn't moved up and Mosley hadn't moved down) and Williams was just starting to step up to contender status by fighting in an eliminator.

Mayweather got his status at 147 at a very weak point in the division, and then spent last year fighting two guys who weren't even really welterweights.

Just in the time period between when Mayweather won the undisputed title from Baldomir to now, Margarito has fought two current champions (Cintron, Cotto) and two future champions (Williams and Clottey).

That's slightly more ambitious than what Mayweather's done at the weight.

That's why I don't necessarily put more stock in titles than actual fights.

an ordinary bum whom Floyd was scared shit of ever fighting. The ones who called margaritio a bum were the Floyd jockriders who were threatend by Margarito so had to ridicule him in every way. Kinda like the Tyson fanatics did to Lewis when that fight was coming about back in 2000.

Floyd need to fight Williams, Cotto, Margarito. Then I will admit he's the man at 147, but not before.

You know damn well Hatton has no business at 147. Is Hatton an elite welterweight? Where is Baldomir now? Nowhere to be found! What about Judah? He's a good punching bag for real elite level fighters.

I agree with joony about the Hatton win - it really impressed me and it makes no odds what weight class it was in between 140-147.

I am pretty much 100% in agreement with Reed here - Floyd WAS the man at 147 and he proved it by beating the man - Baldomir. I was one of those people who complained when Floyd fought Zab for the paper welterweight belt, because he wasn't fighting the lineal champ, and imo it was justified to complain and criticize floyd about that match... but floyd followed it up by fighting and schooling the lineal champ and you have to give him credit for that...

Floyd went out on top of his division and the P4P rankings when he retired... could he have done better? Much. Are there legitimate threats out there for him to fight at 147? Plenty, but they were nothing more than top contenders to the champion - and Floyd was the champion on top of them all

also, for those who say floyd ducked mosley, he's had how many impressive wins since TWICE losing to forrest? he's had one controversial win over oscar at 154, two wins over a shot vargas at 154, and one decent win over luis collazo.

last time i checked, he lost to cotto.

That decent win over Collazo was far more impressive than Hatton's questionable decision.

I don't really hold it against Mayweather for not fighting Mosley. I think Mayweather did want to fight Mosley in late 2006, and I think Mosley did want to fight Mayweather in return, but Oscar and Richard Schaeffer call the shots, so Mosley took a vacation to go to the dentist.

The fight probably could've been made late 2007. I personally was happy with Mayweather-Hatton and didn't feel like seeing Mayweather fight another mid-to-late 30s fighter who peaked in the late 90s/early 00s.

say what you will about judah, but he was once a top welterweight.

he came in out of shape and narrowly lost to an argentinian heavybag with limbs. then he got beat up by mayweather, ruined by cotto, and clottey beat what was left.

hatton moved back down and beat urango and castillo. it's subjective to think whether those wins were noteworthy or not, but regardless, it sure fooled those who attended the mayweather fight which generated 800k+ ppv buys, didnt it?

i'm not a floyd hater nor am i his biggest supporter. i guess i'm somewhere between the middle, but the way i see it is that a lot of people won't shut the fuck up until he finally loses. at the end of the day, there were a handful of people who picked (or wished) that oscar and hatton would beat him, it just didn't happen.

if floyd beats margarito, then people will say that he needs to beat paul williams. if he does that, then they will say cotto has the perfect style to beat him. by then, maybe berto would probably have some decent wins under him for folks to say that floyd is ducking him as well. it will never end.

personally, i dont find floyd to be the most exciting fighter, so i honestly dont give a shit if he fights any of the aforementioned fighters or not. maybe he beats margarito, maybe not.

This reads like an ode to the greatness of Cory Spinks.

That great pugilistic off-spring and weltewight champion, whom Judah needed two attempts at to have bestowed upon him that great honor of "undisputed"....a status so great he could not pass it on, in whole, to Carlos "Bumdomir". Of course, while his Boxrec says he beat Zab, we all know it wasn't the Argentinean but Don King who bested the "best that eva did it" that one night in New York.

Still, Mayweather proved himself by beating both men...an accomplishment so great he would never had to fight another welterweight after it.

You're judging the meaning of a fight based on reciepts?

Speaking of things you're tired of, how about this lowest common denonimator argument which comes up name after name after name of opponents that fans will call for Mayweather to fight, as though he's simply demonstrating prudence by not fighting any of them, showing vigilence in the face of petulant children who'll want two cookies if you give them one and three if you give them two.

It's not intended to be. Look at his opposition:
    Diego Corrales - weight-drained
    Jesus Chavez - slow
    Jose Luis Castillo - good
    Philip N'Dou - Bum
    DeMarcus Corley - Fast bum
    Aruro Gatti - totally shot
    Sharmba Mitchell - -shot
    Zab Judah - -on-the-slide
    Carlos Baldomir - slow
Oscar De la Hoya - on-the-slide
    Ricky Hatton - one-dimensional

Joking aside, let's drop the guys at 160lb: Cassamayor, Margarito, Cotto, Spinks, Mosley - if he'd fought any 3 of those, I'd be far more impressed with him retiring undefeated....

Mister REED said that Floyd IS the man at 147- thats why I took offense. Floyd might STILL be the man at 147, but he needs to fucking FIGHT someone worth a light at 147 to be even vaguely considered the MAN at 147.

147 is a LOADED division. I don't give a flying fuck about 'linear' titles or any of that shit. There are about SIX live bodies for FLOYD to fight, and any two and three of those would make me shut up and salute PBF forever.

I don't care which ones- just SOME of them.

Floyd retired whilst head of the most loaded division of this or numerous years. That stinks of complacency, at BEST

mosley flat out turned the fight down. spinks was set to fight mayweather until the media and fans claimed baldomir was a more worthy foe, which I laughed at because I wouldve much preferred he fight spinks. the others I'd agree I would have liked to see

Fraud did fuck all at welterweight, and his resume there, all of 4 fights, is extremely poor, there is no logical argument that can be made as to why he shoulde be considered "THE MAN" at welterweight,..all he's got is a surge of ex-Roy Jones groupies aggressively insisting he's the man, all because they desperately want and need to roll high, like old times,..and please dont insult the rest of us with this 'linear' title horse-shit,..

so you claim mayweather wasn't/isn't the champion at welterweight, and he isn't the greatest boxer ever. fair enough

maybe he isn't one of the best 50 ever.

is he a hall of famer? is he one of the 100 most accomplished boxers in the history of the sport?

a sport that millions have participated in over the years

    not bad

 Pardon me,..this happens alot,.. I was actually replying to the vibe of the thread,..after 'glossing over' the thread, and not to you specifically Neil,.. just reading my post back it would appear as if I were being an infuriated arsehole, sorry about that. To answer your post, I would rank Fraud's offensive ability, speed accuracey and shot selection as the calibre of an all-time great yes, top 50, yes,.. but his defence is thoroughly illegal and I refuse to recognise it as anything but cheating, and it should effect his legacy, he pot shotted, ran, then hid himself behind an illegal shell.

Mayweather retired on top and his defense was the best in the game. Everyone had him rated as p4p #1 you can't get any higher than number 1

It's simple Joony, the laws aren't being enforced, that's why Ruiz was an overachiever, there's nothing to debate regarding the legality about the following felonies,..

    1) Turning your back on your opponent
    2) Flicking your elbow or grinding it into someone's throat or face
    3) Pushing or palming someones head up / back

These are all fundamental components of Fraud's defensive system, alongside excessive running, and the second part to his shoulder roll shit which is to duck his head below belt level, then rise up to clinch or to repeat one of the above 3 ^ ,.. it seems the only foul there is in boxing these days is if you smash your opponents balls, that seems to be the only thing being consistantly pulled up,.. though Drakulich did take away Fraud's elbow and look what happenned to him,....... Fraud turned to JELLY and Castillo swept the rounds.

If you want xamples of legal defensive brilliance, look at Arthur Abraham, Joshua Clottey or Winky Wright, now that's how your supposed to defend yourself :nono:.

I don't know...Floyd obviously has the goods. His desire to retire is not necessarily based on the belief that there are not more things to do in the division. Look at it from Floyd's perspective... He's got two large welters to fight now. could see him fighting Cotto (if cotto had won), but does he really want a knock down drawn out fight with Williams in particular?

I actually think that a case to fight Margarito can be made and Floyd might yet. But until these guys jump up why subject yourself to it if you are Floyd? I bet if Williamd fights Marg and Marg beats him Floyd fights Margarito.... What Floyd wants to avoid is a lot of incoming from these big ass welters! I mean Floyd came up to this weight from what 130?
