Lennox Lewis statement on BAD lolol

Roy talked too much about himself, but other than that, I liked his commentary a lot.

    George was hilariously bad.

Lennox is pretty poor as a commentator. Good for an occassional laugh (trying to say the world "athleticism"), but other than that, blah. I'm not too sure about his intelligence either. Having an English accent doesn't make you smart.

You'd think that Tyson has the potential to be a very good commentator. He has a great knowledge of boxing history and can at times be articulate during interviews, but when he did Brown-Pettway and Hopkins-Mercado 2, he was pretty bad. Haven't heard him commentate other fights though.

Lewis is terrible. Its funny because he's usually calm in the ring, but when the cameras are rolling he looks wooden, stiff and sometimes a little bit nervous.

I thought that was something he would get over, but he just doesnt seem comfortable with the camera around.

I agree that Jones was the best, he would often predict things happening. I remember in the Hopkins/Allen fight he was saying how Hopkins was setting Allen up for the right hand, and that in the next couple of rounds Hopkins was going to knock Allen down with it. The next round, BAM, Hopkins knocks Allen down with the right hand.

Its too bad Jones/HBO had beef, because he was the best analyst

I also like Bernstein too, hes one of the most unbiased colour guys I've seen.

that was the night when he claimed someone (I guess Simon Brown) was "uncoherent", right?

I give him a pass for that night, because it seemed like he was wedged in there on the spot. No time to prepare, as he admittedly never saw Pettway fight and could only reference Simon Brown's fight against Buddy McGirt, which was probably the last one he saw/recalled before he went to and was released from jail.

The general consensus seems to be that he'd be best served, say alongside Brian Kenny as an in-studio co-host. Hell, he could replace both John Salley and Chris Byrd on TBDSSP boxing telecasts for that matter.

The irony is that HBO's alleged beef with Roy was his unwillingness to show up to an event a day or two early for the pre-fight production meetings. The claim was that the meetings were crucial to on-air preparation, yet Lampley and Merchant fumble facts all of the time, and once the fight began, Roy was still the only one who knew what the fuck he was talking about.

In fact, of all the announcers on HBO during the Lampley era, the only ones who could spit facts w/o the benefit of a cheat sheet have been Roy, Kellerman, Gil Clancy and for the most part Manny Steward (when he doesnt let his own bias get in the way).

You guys wanna hear the British commentators...

Compared to most of what we have to put up with, Lewis, Atlas and Lederman are straight -down-the-middle legends...

Also, I only heard Roy commentate once. He seemed very decent.

He's cut it down to two times a sentence and it still is far from tolerable.
And I think he's pretty good as a commentator, but he definitely should have a shock collar that gets him whenever he says definitely. Definitely.

No offense, but Foreman was awful. And I am skeptical of anyone who 'loved' him. Why? How? When?

Man, do I love that fight. The best fight of all time. Anyone who reads this and doesn't know the outcome of that fight should just buy it and watch it cold.

I like every british commentator who is involved while the fight is in progress.

A big right hand, at least Reed wouldn't remember it....the worst would be when Lennox gave him the "ppppfffttt, bitch please" hand, when Reed was bothering him for an interview

I am watching Wednesday Night Fights and Nate Campbell was very, very good.TOO Bad, the worst comedian ever Jackie Mason was making me vomit. That fucker took one of the best comedy movies in Caddyshack and turned into the unwatchable Caddyshack 2.

agREED on both account. I thought Nate made a solid debut, you can easily see the potential for a broadcasting career.

No clue why Tessitore felt compelled to bring on Jackie Mason, much less suck up to him for as long as he did (I eventually changed the channel, not sure how long the interview actually lasted)

Roy was the best, George was the funniest, Lennox is blah. Nate was good on FNF.
