Rau'Shee Warren & Luis Yanez Should Each have Solid Pro Careers...The Issue is their WEIGHT CLASSES...American's DON'T Follow Extreme Lower Weights, Historically...

Warren will Debut No HIGHER than 115 -112 & Yanez in the 108-105 Range...@ Least N Yanez's Case, he'll have a Loyal Hispanic Following & an OUTGOING Personality...

Gary Russell, Jr. will B a GOOD Pro...He's an Aggressive Boxer-Puncher N the Sugar Shane Mold...

Sadam Ali has More of a PRO Style...As Such, REED Expects More PRO Success than Olympic Success...

Javier Molina is a Butter Smooth BOXER...He's SUITED for Olympic Boxing...Not Sure if he can ALTER the Way he Fights...Of the Rest, (Shawn Estrada, Raynell Williams, Deontay Wilder) REED Hasn't Seen Enough to Assess...

REED Won't Predict Any All-Time GREATS @ this Point, but We Should have MORE Successful U.S. Pros than 2000 & 2004 Provided...

On the subject of pro prospect,I remember the name of Italian heavyweight Roberto Cammarelle getting some talk right after the last Olympics.

Hopefully, when/if he turns pro he has more success than countryman Paolo Vidoz. ::

 

I still have no clue why DiBella saw it worthwhile to sign that dude out of the Olympics. I've been to three of his fights, including his pro debut and his first loss. HBO, who gave DiBella a severance package geared toward signing Olympians and starting up his own company, had to have watched him and asked themselves, "This is how Lou spends our money?"

 

I'm with you on Warren, in fact, I think it would be a shock to me if he didn't fight for the gold. Andrade is the only other US fighter I think will medal.

If there is a dark horse for me, it's Shawn Estrada. I think he might do better than expected.

3 Medals would be great, but I think we get two.

 

Yeah, Vidoz didn't turn out great and you wonder after watching him what was really seen in him to begin with...though I do wonder, even now, what the chances are he could repeat his Olympic victory over Samuel Peter. ::

Spoeaking of his pro debut, though, hopefully there will be more of an introdutction to the '08 class than that rather embarrassing and belated Olympian card Goossen compiled in San Jose for the '04 one.

 

Warren and Andrade are both big favorites to win gold.

 

Russia is supposed to have a strong team. Matvey Korobov is one of their best fighters.

Abbos Atoev of Uzbekistan is a good fighter.

I've read a lot about Zou Shiming, the best fighter on the Chinese squad and a significant medal favorite.

If he, or another Chinese boxer, wins a gold medal it could be huge for the sport in that country.

 

From a British perspective, Frankie Gavin will probably do well, though he is apparently no longer a lightweight (and no longer in the Olympics for that matter) and will campaign at light welter I'd imagine.

Also, Bradley Saunders is a pretty handy Welter. I've met this guy and seen him box in the North East of England a couple of times. He's got every chance of making a run at pro.

Watching boxing while there's still light out is teriffic.

 

Both Saunders on the GB team look pretty good, but yeah Bradley looks exceptional, if I got them right. Billy Joe is the gypsy and Bradley is the one who landed the "Ricky Hatton left hook ::", correct?

GB in general looks like they have a strong squad. Not sure of their medal chances, but quite a few guys on the team look like they'll have decent pro careers. James Degale impressed me, to where I'd be surprised if "our guy" (Estrada) got past him in the next round.

 

That's all I did yesterday...watched and burned DVD's...great day.

 

there's no IF with Shiming other than him losing two arms in an accident while the games are on. He's a lock for Gold. Even if he wasn't much better than the rest of his division the judges wouldn't score a fight against him there as long as he shows up.

 

Sure, Shimming the FAVORITE & it'd B an UPSET if he Didn't Win, but he's NOT a "Lock" for Gold:nono:...
