On boxscene DiBella says he's interesting in making Cotto-Cintron if Cotto is interested. It makes alot of sense, and I sure as hell wouldnt mind seeing it. Either way I think it'll happen one day, but I think Arum might wanna give Cotto a softer touch back before he fights Kerm, but if they can make the fight for December, it'd be great! I'd take Cotto by late stoppage.
Softer touch? Than Cintron? Bro, it doesn't come much softer than that, hell Judah isn't even that soft.
No. Judah is softer, but I agree. Cintron is not very good. Cotto needs some time. He needs an Alfonso Gomez type guy again. Jose Luis Castillo is the guy. Cintron is much bigger than Cotto.
Cintron's a Good "Comeback" Fight for Cotto...SLIGHTLY Risky, but a Fight Cotto Should Win IMPRESSIVELY... Cintron will Help Cotto REDISCOVER his Body Attack, Which was ABSENT Against Margarita...& Cintron has the POWER to Test Cotto MENTALLY... If Cotto's the Least Bit GUNSHY after his 1st Loss, Cintron's the Type of Guy who Could Help Cotto to RESTORE some Confidence N Himself... Bottom Line, Cintron Isn't NEARLY as Durable as Margarita, but he's just as LIMITED...If Cintron is TAGGED w/the Level of Shots Margarita was (Over the 1st 5-6 Rounds w/Cotto), then he WILL Get STOPPED... REED:hammert:
His name is Margarito with an "o." A margarita is a drink. Cintron is not a puncher but he is a little bit too much of a puncher for a comeback fight when he was eaten so badly by Margarito
I think the part in bold had more to do with Margarito's uppercuts than Cotto forgetting to throw body shots.
Did We???...Where IS Gatti, by the Way???:dunno:... If he Remembers BETTING, then REED'll Honor it... REED:mj:
I could have sworn you guys had some sort of agreement that if Margarito beat Cotto, you would be forced to call him MargaritO forever. I'll take a quick look for it, but I'm REALLY lazy.
It's Strange... Cotto NORMALLY Works the Body Somewhat Frequently, yet it Seemed like he Threw FEWER than 5 TOTAL Against Margarita... U Think the Uppercuts R SOLELY Responsible for Such a DRASTIC Difference N Cotto's Bodywork???... REED:mj:
That's Cool... If Gatti Confirms it or if U Find it 1st, REED'll Honor it...But UNTIL Then, Margarita, Margarita, Margarita... REED
Yeah man. He tried going to the body early, but when he was close with Margarito he was in too much danger. Marg was too strong to lean against and throw body shots, IMO. Margarito has a vicious left uppercut, and from my seat in the arena I was crazy impressed by how little he was looping it.
Collazo would be a softer touch than Cintron. Louie cant punch for shit. Or a bum like Lujan would be a softer touch. Kermit if nothing else can fuckin PUNCH! Who knows how Cotto's chin will be now, and it wasnt exactly great to begin with. Obviously Cotto would have to be a big favorite, but Cintron isnt w/o a chance.
I don't think this is the best fight for either one to have coming off their Margarito losses. Next year, it'd be a good fight in the Garden or in Puerto Rico.
No one really knows why Cotto didn't go to the body against Margarito. Maybe he fell in love landing on Margarito's chin at will. Who knows. But back to Cotto/Cintron, I can't wait to see how Cotto looks in his comeback fight. I want to see his body attack again.:bears: WAR COTTO!!!
After watching the fight a few times i think part of the reason Cotto didn't go to the body (other than the uppercuts) was Margarito' stance. If you watch, Antonio almost always in somewhat of a diagonal position when near Cotto. It would have forced Cotto to stretch and lean a bit more to dig underneath. That would have made him even more vulnerable to the uppercuts or even rabbit punches.
Of course Dibella is interested in this fight, it's the biggest $ fight to be made for Cintron and if Cintron wins, it's even more $. If he loses, he still made the most $ that Cintron could possibly make.
Cotto has to find a way to land his patent body punches if he rematches Margarito. I think Cotto can at least jab hard to the body right in the middle. If he can't find a way then he will suffer the same fate unless Cotto can somehow improve his stamina which is very possible.
If Dibella cant get Cotto, I wonder if he'll match his two Ricans together and make Cintron-Quintana. Thats another fight I'd love to see.
Good fight! If Cintron/Quintana happens I will go with Quintana via UD. But I must admit, I'm not that confident about that prediction anymore after I seen Williams Knock Quintana out. So Cintron will definitely have a chance.
And what the fuck would that do, give Cotto a point? Because it sure as hell won't hurt Tony or build towards breaking him down. Hell a stomach jab doesn't hurt average fighter's it'd be nothing to Margarito. A stomach jab, that's shit motherfucker's do in the opening rd when they're feeling guys out. I disagree with Ike about Cotto fighting Castillo. Cotto needs to fight a soft punching boxer next. A guy like Castillo could watch that Margarito fight and go off the same fight plan knowing all he has to do is give it his all and Cotto might fold again.
You can tell you never boxed, or been around those who have. Honestly, you come off looking like a moron right there.
Margarita is not only a drink. It is also a very common female name in spanish speaking countries which in english is translated as 'Daisy'!opcorn:
