    From Fightnews...

    Arce returns September!
WBA will recognize three 115lb champions
Former world champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce (49-4-1, 37 KOs) will return on September 15 to challenge titleholder Rafael Concepcion (11-2-1, 7 KOs) for the WBA interim super flyweight championship. The bout will take place at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. Concepcion is cetainly wasting no time getting back in the ring. He just won the title on July 26, upsetting AJ Banal in Cebu, Philippines. The WBA's super flyweight "super" Champion Cristian Mijares is slated to face Chatchai Sasakul on August 30, with Nobuo Nashiro and Kohei Kono slated to go for the WBA "regular" title, also on September 15. This will give the WBA three recognized world champions in the 115lb division.

Good precedent set here by the WBA! :bears:

Only with Arum in his corner could Arce have managed another title shot that's not against Mijares.

I wanna see Mijares/Montiel. And then Arce have to face (lose to) the winner of that fight.

After being force-fed garbage like Cotto/Margarito for the last few months, this news is refreshing.

"interim", "regular" and "super" Champions. :bears:

What you people don't understand is the cost involved for the WBA to make all these title belts. They've got a factory in Mexico working double overtime shifts to keep up with the demand.

On top of the license fee...they have to actually pay for the belt in a seperate fee. The promoter usually pays for that himself.

So...no real extra cost for the WBA.

belts aside, Arce is going to get his ass kicked real good if he goes through w/ this.

he should just sign to get beat up by darchinyan for more money.

I hope they'll create another title for each of us, that way we'll all be able to call ourselves boxing World Champ and Karl will finally respect our opinions on boxing.

Apparently you are against Mexicans making a good honest living in their country. :nono:

The WBA makes it possible for belt factories all across the countryside to stay in business and create more jobs for the people of Mexico. :bears:

I'm not even sure the belts are made in Venezuela either.

I already explained they are made by poor peasants living in the Mexican countryside living day to day on their meager earnings as boxing belt makers.

Without the plethora of Championships created by the WBA they would surely starve to death. :nono:

Excellent call. I thought it had happened before, but I was never going to get it.

As much as I stick up for the sanctioning bodies, this one is stupid. The WBA regular championship IS an interim championship and nothing more. If you win a WBA regular championship, so long as they have a super champ, you are not a world champion.

This is actually where that insipid argument about there only being one world so there can only be one champ is worthwhile.

Panama is the headquarters for the regular WBA rankings. Venezuela is still the location for their Super Wal-Mart.

Not sure where the interim location is - perhaps in Las Vegas, right next to Top Rank's office.
