WBA junior middleweight champion Daniel Santos has launched a verbal attack in the direction of WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Santos wants Margarito to pick on someone "his own size" and dared the Mexican warrior to move back up to 154-pounds for a trilogy bout.

    WAR SANTOS!!!!

margarito wouldn't fight santos again. although i thought margarito was slightly ahead in their second bout, santos' size and southpaw stance will always give him fits.

considering how good santos has looked in his last two outings, i'm not even sure who i would pick if this fight was to be made.

I'm sure Santos would be happy to stink out the joint for another 10 rounds and then get cut and win a bull-shit decision. His whole career he's been nothing but a boring aZz bitch of a fighter. I'd like to see him knocked out badly. I loved when Margarito torched him with that upper-cut and he lost his legs and fell against the ropes. Too bad Margarito couldn't finish that janitor there and then.

santos was a fierce boxer-puncher when he first came out of the olympics. he pretty much got hector camacho'ed after the jantuah loss, but recently, it seems as though he reverted back to his aggressive mode.

It must still sting like a fucking mule kick to the nutsack that you have to find something, anything to heal your wounds

"hey let's move on to Iron Boy"
"hey let's talk about something other than Cotto being beat up"
"hey Daniel Santos is calling him out"

your boy lost in brutal fashion

Santos could try to avenge his loss to Sergei Dzinziruk, after Dzinziruk has tried to avenge his "loss" to Konecny. if the fighters at 154 want any recognition, they´ll have to unify some belts.

If they did fight again, and I see almost no realist chance of it happening - and no reason to as long as Margarito has a ww title - at least Margarito might not have to travel to PR for a third fight.

Say what you want about Santos - he has been in the ring with Margarito and Santos owns the legitimate W.

I don't think Santos ever got "Camacho'd" at all - the Jantuah fight was a poor stoppage, which Santos was immediately complaining about. He was robbed against Kotiev - avenged by brutal ko, you won't see a more brutal ko than his ko over Sinclair, the margarito rematch and Dzinziruk fights were both entertaining fights as were some other noteable ko's by santos over Parisi and Alcine.

he is simply a chinny fighter who has the means to fight cautiously if he thinks that's what he needs to do to win. and sometimes, rather unfortunately, he does deem it necessary and he will produce a dull affair every now and then.

i would find it funny if Santos actually said to "pick on someone your own size." Santos had to come into the ring as a near light-heavyweight to deal with Margarito's unbelievable strength and endurance in the ring... imo a smart move on Santos' part... but an ironic choice of words, i think.

Good post. I think Santos/Margarito III should be made. I think these 2 have unfinished business to take care of. I would love to see it.

you and me both man - i have never taken a liking to margarito and have been a big fan of Santos ever since his Olympic days and early pro career. there isnt a fight to be made that would get me more juiced up save for maybe Pac-Valero

it is a legitimate fight too, as you say with unfinished business and maybe a bit of bad blood...

i loved the margarito-cotto matchup and am all for good sportsmanship but werent those two just a little too damn respectful and nice to each other leading up to that fight??

there's also bad blood between margarito and williams.

i like santos, but who besides cotto fans and margarito haters would want to see that fight? also, when was the last time santos was televised in the u.s.?

no you're right. it's not likely to happen. Marg-Williams 2 is MUCH more likely. But i still like that Santos is talking shit and backing his countryman

here lies the problem w/ williams. arum doesnt want to deal w/ al haymon and if margarito fights clottey or whoever in november, williams is pretty much left w/o a dancing partner that would earn him a decent payday.

my outlook on this is that williams will no longer be able to make 147 and if and when he moves up to 154, it's quite possible that we might not see the margarito rematch anytime soon.

IF this fight somehow takes place at 154 sometime next year, i'd probably favor williams to win again.

i'd rather see santos vs. that urkranian dude in either PR or U.S. santos seems like he got the james toney resurgence going and zdurnik or whatever his name is appears to be slipping.

santos from what i've seen in his last two fights beats just about everyone at 154.

verno phillips is struggling to find an opponent and he's a don king fighter, that's also an easy fight to make. same goes for stinks, but i don't want to see stinks again unless he fights pavlik.

Speaking of resurgences, Santos' mandatory is another resurrection...Alex Bunema.

Don King isn't really making many fights these days.

Maybe Santos will get challenged by one of the "promoted" jr. middles like Kirkland, Angulo, Foreman, Julio, et al., though most promoters prefer vacant titles as opposed to good champions, in order to get their fighters their title opps.

I would call for Santos to fight somebody HIS own size, but that would mean him fighting Dawson.

BTW - Margarita aint gonna fight Santos, OR Williams. The "most feared man in boxing" is a fuckin hypocrite!

Santos & Williams might as well fight eachother. The winner gets custody over Phony, the loser still gets to take him out for ice cream on the weekends.

certainly would be interesting in that they could bill it as both Margarito's conquerors doing battle with one another. i bet the fight tho would turn out like watching grass grow
