It seemed like it was a done deal, then all of a sudden it's dropped, and Pavlik - Hopkins is announced.

    Which side pulled out?

Don't get me wrong, it was not a good fight, but personally I would have preferred to see it than Pavlik against Hopkins. At least Paul would have attacked and made it exciting before he got smashed. I used to be a Nard fan, but I am sick of him now.

arum had difficulty dealing w/ al haymon, which is another reason why he's not rushing to make margarito-willliams II.

honestly who cares it was a worthless fight and now we are rid of it for the time being.

sadly Pavlik's next opponent falls a bit short of awe-inspiring

Damn, that's a shame, regarding the Marge rematch too.

    is Haymon a prick?

Hitman - yes it was a worthless fight, but you absolutely cannot deny it would at least be more fun than fucking hopkins crawling around the ring throwing 5 punches a round, and losing a boring decision to Pavlik.

I will certainly give you that. Seems an awful that those are the only two options we are being given at the moment

    I'd rather see Pavlik-Margarito.

he is actually not a bad dude I have met him on several occasions. Yeah he is a total recluse and very unassuming but if you go up to him he will be very cordial and nice to talk to.

as for what happened while in the media Bob is blaming Haymon, Peterson and PWill I heard that the difference in what HBO offered and what PWill wanted was so minute everyone was saying it was a done deal. In fact, the day Peterson told PWill, PWill told me he went to the gym thinking that fight was done.

From what I heard, through some good sources is that Schaefer got into the ear of Greenberg, complaining about how Bob got dates for Pavlik and Manny and how a guy like BHop and Winky don't have any. So from what I heard HBO nixed the Pavlik Williams fight in favor of putting Hopkins into the mix with Pavlik and trying to match Winky with PWill (which I think PWill's people said no to)

I also heard that they put pressure on Bob not to have Manny fighting in Vegas in November when GBP has their own fight to sell (Hatton Malignaggi) in Vegas in November which is why Bob started crying about how MGM is fucking him over by saying the date that was promised for Manny is no longer there etc.

I also heard there is a reason why Hatton Malignaggi is not in NYC at MSG where it would seem like a logical choice.

Well, it would be logical w/out the prospect of two Brits fighting in NYC in that close of span.

It would figure that one of them had to wind up in Vegas.

not necessarily. Wasnt the Jones Joe C fight originally scheduled for Sept? Sept 20th I think.

the Hatton Malignaggi fight had long been targeted for November

I know it was moved back, but that original date would still put them pretty close together.
