For anybody who watched WNF last night, whats your thoughts on Julio, and Joe Greene? Greene I think is crap. A KO waiting to happen. Sloppy, bad technique, worse balence, horrible defense, just nothing impressive about him. Between the two power punching southpaws, James Kirkland is by FAR a better prospect, and would butcher Green. Julio stopped a guy that went the distance with Miranda, so it speaks volumes of his power, but he's still sloppy in there at times, and his defense will always be less than respectable. He's a threat to anybody he can hit though. Dude can bang! Thoughts?
Greene is shit. I never understood the hype behind him. I guess a familiar name (even if to another generation and for another sport) is enough these days. Julio looked good last night, but I wouldn't read too much into "knocking out a guy that went the distance with Miranda." Varela learned his way around the ring enough to fight to survive the moment he discovered that he has no chin. He looked really shot last night, though I don't want to detract too much from Julio's performance - he looked better than he did against Shitty Shay and his past few other fights.
Green and Julio both suck. Julio looked better than he did in his last fight but he was fighting a guy he should look better against. A guy with no chin and shitty defense. Put him in with a boxer with decent defense and he's going to look bad.
Julio is the same fighter he was some four years ago. He's never going to beat a good fighter with a chin and some boxing ability. Varela stood right in front of Julio and was about as slow and weak a fighter as I've ever seen @ 154. Julio is no finisher....but yeah, he can bang. So can alot of fighters though. Cintron's a much better fighter than Julio, IMO. Greene? I've never thought anything of him. I caught a few of his fights on some NY network a few years ago and was amazed at the commentary hyping the kid. I didn't see a single thing that stood out - in an impressive way that is - at all.
Greene and Julio are shit. I wish ESPN would put quality fights and fighters on instead of their usual rants. Nate Campbell made the show better. He has that "it" quality. He made up some words and expressions but the dude is very good being so raw in broadcasting. That was the only thing that kept me from deleting this shit before watching it. Julio is so bad it is good to here them hyping him. Thank god most people, including many of you, don't know how bad the line of bullshit is.
Yeah he is. But if they fought, Julio would be a live underdog. If David Estrada can buzz Cintron, if Julio lands a right hand, Kerm would be in trouble. I'd favor Kerm to knock him out in the mid rounds though, but it'd be an explosive fight while it lasts. I REALLY wanna see Julio-Angulo! Both would be there for the other to hit. I pray they make that fight for Oct 4th on B.A.D. They should keep Julio far away from Santos. Santos would brutalize him. And as much as people despise Spinks, Cory would box rings around Julio.
