One more thing I want to touch on is most boards out there are far inferior like X pointed out. I rarely post anywhere else. There are allot of knowledgeable posters here. :kidcool:
:bears: Amen. Also, it's AUGUST... if you guys aren't currently posting from work, NO ONE should be here. ::
I always enjoyed Seconds Out's forum - that's what led me here. And this is the only forum I post in. And for the most part I'm happy with it. I think people are exaggerating the extent to which it's slowed down. Thinking back I can remember plenty of slow periods, when people were claiming the forum was dead, only to see it blossom once again, sometimes in mere weeks of its rumored death. It's not even worth discussing. Boxing should be the topic here. We shouldn't be so introspective as to our presence here. If you have something to say about boxing, say it. Otherwise, read the threads you find interesting. But evaluating the traffic and speculating as to its future? Seems like a waste of time to me.
yes and yes. There's also the Boxrec forum, Saddoboxing (surprising, since their homepage is almost exclusively press releases), Doghouse Boxing... I'm probably leaving out a couple, but I'm not exactly a forum guru. I mainly post here, with Max a close second and B-Scene not so often, usually only to someone who leaves a snide comment on my article(s) ::
yeah I agree that "Death is upon us" is greatly exaggerated. But perhaps more appropriate is saying the board is terminal (kinda like the sport itself). It will pick up in September, but still remain a niche site for the most part.
boxing.com and boxingtime was the shit. I remember most of you from those sites. Remember the ferocious squad? haha who was that hitler fucker who ran boxingtime? Jason I think his name was? Fucker banned me! I'm still mad. ::
That was a little before my time. I had no idea what a boxing message board was until I joined boxing.com back in late 2001.
The Olympics are on. Most people are watching that instead of logging in here and watching tumbleweed blow by.
Slow? According to the forum stats there are hundreds browsing at any one time. This place is on fire, apparently.
No. I only have posted in Houseofboxing (My first forum), Boxing Fanatics and here. But I remember a poster by that name that was extremely annoying.::
I think that was sorta the whole point of this thread, though. The diminishing number of those threads. There's nights where both Showtime and HBO have fights on and this place is dead, even in the RBR threads.
Ferocious was Ben Pierce, right? I thought I remember that, though not as a message board poster, but during the brief stint where I contributed to the site (Ben was one of the editors)
The more the site is updated, the more it'll pop up on places like google. The more active sites bring in more viewers and that in turn brings in new forum members. It's one thing to have your own core group of posters, but a handful of people out of that core group of regular contributors can hurt alot.
I'M ALIVE!!! I need to fix the e-mail function on the site. people are registering but not getting their confirmation e-mails. Otherwise I've been very busy with my personal life. Sorry. Cupey
It is because there are only 5 of us that are fans of boxing and the rest are all nutthuggers who claim to be fans.
