Women's boxing in the US is popular enough to support this and probably elsewhere, too. Nice to see someone sticking up for boxing. Good luck with the IOC, though. Those cocksuckers hate boxing.
Shoot, with all the drama going around about cutting events, we'll be lucky to have ANY boxing in 2012.
If it gets included, maybe it's introduction would even attract some female viewers to the sport. I'm not sure they'd televise much of it on NBC, but maybe if there's one or two human interest stories on the team it might raise it's profile a bit.
Maybe they can do a profile on her and she can say she started boxing to lose weight after the pregnancy. That would be a nice touch.
From a PR standpoint, they would pitch her as being a loving and caring mother, and a ferocious fighter inside of the ring. Like they did with Sheryl Swoops when the WNBA was getting off the ground. They tried making her the uber-feminine athlete in a very masculine sport where 75% of it's athletes are gay.
Great, I'd be all for the women replacing the men in olympics....it suits women better since there is no tangible advantage in trying to hurt anybody anyway. Fuck olympic boxing.
Katie Taylor This girl is winning everything... apparently she has been offered big money to turn pro but is hanging on for the 2012 games. http://www.wban.org/biog/ktaylor.htm
Being exposed to more women´s boxing than most of you, I can assure you 85% of these pro girls can positively not fight. It would give true meaning to the word amateur though, since it would look embarrassing. Unless a sport has proven to have reached a certain standard of excellence, average skill it shouldn´t be included in the Olympics. Even the most ridiculous Olympic sports like shooting or archery, these competitors hit 10´s not 3´s to win their medals.
You're right. I've seen ALOT of female boxing, and while I'm a big supporter, there isn't much real talent.
If the Bitches R Actually GOOD Looking & Fight N 2-Piece Bathing Suits, it'll Generate Interest... REED
