I agree. Williams did get very lucky in the rematch and caught Quintana. I think Carlos has the style to give allot of fighters fits in the ring. I also think Quintana deserves the rubber match against Williams but that aint happening anytime soon. I dont think Pauls want's to risk another possible loss.

Tony will get in Quintana's ass. Carlos is better off trying to fight Cintron.

That is the gayest thing I have ever heard. Why do people use this expression? Getting in another man's ass is nothing short of gay.

Lol, I have heard it all now. Quitana got knocked the fuck out. I wonder if you people saw the Williams/Quintana original. Williams had so much disdain for the Quintana he walked through him and took 6 shots to land one. Quintana is garbage.

Quintana could win if he had stamina. But he has none, so he loses. Simple

Nah. t's more than stamina with Quintana; especially against a guy like Margarito. He's just not tough enough either.

He was lucky he bombed the fuck out of him? :dunno:

That said, I do think a rubber match isn't a bad idea. Kinda like Holt v Torres III as well.

If he had stamina,he wouldnt need to be tough enough. Quintana is a wonderful boxer and i dont think Tony would have touch him if he had stamina. This fight would look like chico vs. That brazilian who's name i cant remember.

God this is what I hate about this site sometimes.
This was actually a great post, and well written on how Margarito fights, and goes ignored so 2-3 members can just battle each other on pure bullshit that doesn't even matter.

But I would like to add though REED keeps on talkin shit on Margarito's defense, its not to say we are saying he has great defense, but it is underrated, maybe not to the head, but to the body, look how his elbow is tucked, so he can't take clean shots, the way he moves and shifts...
Why did Cotto not land bodyshots, why did he not throw them? Cuz he couldn't land them so, instead of goin for shots that were missing, he aimed to Margarito's chin which he couldn't miss.
It cost him the fight but, it seemed logical.

After getting blown away like that in the rematch, I dont like Quintana's chances AT ALL if he and Paul had a rubber match. Psychologically getting blown away like that in one round has to be big on both guys. A rubber match would probably last longer, but I doubt Quintana would have any confidence now, and Williams would eventually catch him again.

Quintana is a quality fighter, but he should keep away from a Williams rubber match, a Cotto rematch, or a Margarito fight. None of those fights are winnable for him.

Other than those 3, I'd give Quintana a chance at beating anyone else at 147.

well consider this. tokuyama outboxed kawashima in their first fight but only to get knocked out in the first round of their rematch. he won the rubber match decisively on points.

i'd probably favor williams, but i certainly wouldnt rule out of a quintana victory.

a 12 round decision is far more telling than a first round KO.

What's hilarious is how much credit Cotto got for beating Quintana - it was after he beat him that everyone became convinced he was invincible. Then Williams steps in and KO's him in one round. :atu:

Margarito's win over Cotto was impressive but people need to acknowledge that Cotto "was" over-rated all along.

No, then Williams steps in a loses a 12 round decision to Quintana. Did you forget that happened.

Double is probably one of the people who believe that Quintana winning the 12 round decision was a fluke...while Williams ko'in him in 1 was NOT...:notallthere:

No. I thought the fight was close and that Quintana nearly blew it in the end. And it was no surprise to me that Williams was up for an immediate rematch. It was obvious that Quintana had had a career defining performance that night and that the liklihood of his repeating it was minute.

For fucks sake Double, you actually have some pretty damn good knowledge sometimes, you actually know a lot about boxing but damn man give credit where its due.
Quintana came off a bad loss to Cotto, and in his next big fight in which where he was supposed to be a basic stay busy title defense for Williams, he had a hell of a performance and clearly won 7 rounds, I had him winning 8.
And then he got caught in the rematch, no big deal, it happens, anyone can get caught, look at Larios vs Vasquez Larios got KO'd in 1 in the first fight and KO'd him in 12 in the 2nd, of course Larios then got stopped in the third fight, but 1st round KO's don't mean shit...

They mean a ton, but I agree that they aren't necessarily an indication that the same fighter will win every time.

Well ok, I retract my statement of them not meaning shit...but it doesn't necessarily mean they are better, agreed?
