It's safe to question where there was more pro talent on the US Olympic team or that lost in the trials, signed with a promoter/manager and turned pro in the time period before up to the Olympics.
Well, at least I didn't miss the Tishcnenko fight then. I didn't set the recorder for Telemundo, but I checked several times and saw some boxing on that channel but not his fight. That's really poor considering he was known as one of the best fighters coming into the Olymipcs and was going for a second consecutive gold medal (and who I think Papa mentioned wanted to try and win a third at the next Olympics). I still wonder why the only bouts shown by NBC on Sunday happened to involve Chinese boxers.
When it's not Americans, they want to show someone that appeals to the crowd. Nobody wants to watch a fight of nobodies in a dull setting. First gold medals is a big story, but for the most part, the number one story in the olympics is the host country. And displaying their talent just adds to the country.
Yeah, but all the boxing was tape delayed on Saturday and Sunday. The results were well known. So crowd interest or not, they would have known Tishchenko's was the better fight and more newsworthy (having won his second consecutive gold medal).
