Another thing I cant understand is that some ppl are acting like Diaz has the chin of Chavez, or Castillo. He's been hurt before, and I think Katsidis is the biggest puncher he's faced so far.
True but since his handlers don't care much about him or his career but just getting money in the now, you have Diaz-Katsidis for your viewing pleasure. Same thing for Juarez. His handlers bleed him dry with those 3 fights against MAB and JMM. What's next for him if he beats Barrios, Pacquaio?
you sound like your against fighters fighting the best? what the fuck do you want? You want Diaz and Juarez to keep fighting bums to develop so maybe some day they can step up?:atu: Once you fight big fights there's no going back. Fighters fighting the best possible is never a bad thing.
No but after a loss it's a good thing to do some confidence building. I think it shows a sign of long term investment and commitment rather than trying to get all you can before your stock is completely worthless mentality. Take Cotto taking on Cintron for example. Diaz-Katsidis has every look of a Gatti-Ward I, MAB-Moralles I, or Corrales-Castillo I type fight that will shorten both guys careers.
well After Diaz lost to Campbell Goldenboy signed him to a contract. I am sure their plans are lon term with him. I see no reason why they would want to cash him out. I think 135 is one the deepest divisions. I think it's great that both Katsidis and Diaz are facing each other after to put one of them back in the tittle picture. Remember not to long ago Diaz was getting shit from critics and fans because he wasn't stepping up. Now he is in a position where there is no going back. He has to take a fight like this to remain relevant. Either way is a winable fight for Diaz.
No he doesn't. His power is strangely lacking. He is trying to hit hard, he puts everything behind them, his technique is OK, but that natural snap and explosion of energy just isn't there. He can't punch. He stops people threw sheer attrition, wearing them down. He didn't come close to hurting Nate, and he only stopped Freitas because Freitas is a gutless swine.
I strongly fancy Katsidis. Some odd things are being said about Katsidis which fly in the face on what I have seen, certainly. Firstly, he lost to Casa because he got stupid. He recovered from a first round horror show to completely take over the fight, badly hurting Casa and looking like he was going to stop him late on until he foolishly forgot the lessons of that first round and got himself stretched. Up until that point though, and discounting the first round, he looked very good IMHO. Secondly, even if you accept that Katsidis is a little brittle round the whiskers, which he is, you have to accept the fact that Diaz punches like a schoolgirl. Casa might not have destructive power, but his timing is excellent and his shots concussive. Diaz, on the other hand, seems at times to throw fresh air. As top fighters go, he is one of the most powderpuff punchers of recent times. I just don't see that he has the pop to expose Katsidis' frailties. Moreover, Campbell showed that Diaz can have his heart taken from him in a fight when another fighter with a stronger will comes to the party. That was the thing that made Diaz's loss to Nate so complete; by the end, he looked like he had some serious issues of confidence rolling around upstairs, like the battle had long been lost. Katsidis will come at Diaz and then some- if the Casa fight showed one thing, it is that Katsidis has the stomach for a fight, even when he is badly hurt right from the get go. Finally, even though Diaz is durable, he is very hittable and he will never have been hit as hard as Katsidis will hit him; to the body and to the head. Kats power is a great leveller- even when he is in the ring with a crafty, tough, horrible bastard like Casa, he still has to be put down and out before he is beaten, because of his ability to hit and to hurt fighters. If Diaz can stand up to Kats pressure and power and catch him with something perfect early doors, he can win. But IMHO, the longer the fight goes on, and the longer Kat is in there, standing in front of Juan throwing power shots, the better chance Katsidis has. IMHO, the latter is more likely. Katsidis TKO 10/11 In any event, this will be a tremendous fight MTF opcorn:
Listen...Freitas and Nate are classy fighters. Kat is RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. Diaz will eat him up. Diaz throws some of the best combinations in the game and he will hit Kat at will. Also Diaz has underated defence and Kat will not connect cleanly. He will wear him down then he will knock him the fuck out.
Chico took Fruitass' heart. Vaselino was semi-retired after that. He was no class fighter by time Juan beat him. And NONE considered Campbell a class fighter UNTIL he beat Diaz. Remember, this is still the same Nate Campbell that got stopped twice by Robbie Pedan. Diaz looks good against punching bags, like WHOlio Diaz. But Kat will actually be hitting him back. And with POWER.
and what the fuck has Kat accomplished?..what has he done for you to be clinging to his sack so tightly? Diaz is a champ. He has the pedigree and the skills. He is going to steamroll this clown. Kat runs in with his chin in the air and Diaz has ABOVE average defence he will NOT be taking enough shots from Kat to be fazed.
Katsidis came up short in a tough tough fight where he showed a tremendous chin against a good puncher. His stamina is excellent and he always throws hard shots. That, coupled with the fact that Juan is a catcher coming off a tough tough loss, makes me think that Katsidis will get the win, but I'm not sure if it will be by stoppage. It depends on how well Juan has healed from his title-losing but gutsy effort. Katsidis Win Unanimous 12 Diaz is my official pick.
I've got money on Rocky by TKO but I'm in no way confident. Katsidis is very strong and a good puncher, but his resume and experience apart from Casa is horrible. The kid needs to settle and box a bit, set up his punches and protect his chin. But will he?
So because Diaz has the edge in experience and skills I have to pick him? If that were the case, Hearns shoulda killed Iran Barkley, Forrest shoulda killed Mayorga, and Cotto shoulda killed Margarita. And please dont talk to me about Diaz's defense. He's not as easy to hit as a John Duddy or Mayorga, but lets not pretend for a second as if his defense is sound. Katsidis WILL hit him. Its not as if Katsidis is some wild and looping, Mayorga like puncher. He actually throws short, compact power shots, which is something he doesnt get credit for. And although people talk of Diaz's handspeed, Kat's handspeed is above average as well. Diaz will get hit. HARD. He has a good chin, but if Kat is smart and goes to the body, Juan will be effected big time by it. Kat doubled Casa over to the body. He can do the same to Diaz. Only if Diaz gets in trouble like that, he's not as slick or as cagey as Casa, he wont be able to weather the storm.
The main reason I'm picking Katsidis is because I don't think Diaz quite has "it" mentally. Despite his aggressive style, he's not a warrior like Morales or Chico. When Nate stood up to his onslaught, didn't back down, and showed as much aggression in return, Diaz simply wilted, lost heart, and ended up getting beaten down. People like Freitas and the other Diaz succombed to the pressure, but I don't think Katsidis is going to, and as long as Mike doesn't gas, I think he'll win.
Hopefully Diaz can bounce back well in this fight. I think, if he loses this one, he'll be on the downslope because high volume/low power punchers like him don't typically find themselves on the upslope once fighters stand up to them.
The only way I can see Katsidis winning is if DIaz has a hangover fromthe Campbell beating. Logically, I can't see how so many are picking him especially on his so called ability. MK is putrid with some power and no chin. He made pillow fisted Casapeor look like Julian Jackson. I have this fight 60/40 for Diaz only because of Diaz's last fight. If Diaz hadn't lost to Campbell I be 95% sure of Diaz. I have seen Katsidis a few times and he just sucks. Diaz isn't great but he is not sucky.
Diaz just got outfought and got stopped by a guy Robbie Peden raped. Katsidis just outfought a fighter with far more skill than Campbell for the majority of their fight.
Campbell beat Caspeor. I have never seen the so called skill of Casapeor unless fouling, running, heabutting and cheating are "skills." Considering Nate was a novice methinks you are underrating Nate and overrating the stinky Cuban. The next time you want to talk about how skilled Caspeor is watch the Freitas fight. Freitas outbox Casapeor:::: Nate had trouble making weight and that is why he lost to that scrub Peden. The other time was just dumbness.
campbell was dead at the weight for the peden rematch. talk about outfighting a guy for the majority of the fight? then reference peden campbell 1. casamayor is finished
