You'll never hear me call Joe a slapper. In fact, I think that's ridiculous. He hit Hops with some pretty solid shots later on in their bout and he hit even harder in his prime. He does slap quite a bit (and did earlier in his career) but then again, so do a lot of fighters.

In any case, been watching Joe since the late 90's. And I picked him to beat Lacy on 15rounds.com. Picked him to beat Kessler too. Just don't see anything at all to trouble Jones in his prime. It would be boring as all Roy's fights were, to be honest.

    As for November 8th...:pray::pray::pray:

    Thats absolutely right.

Oh, and he looked like a corpse against his fellow dead-man-boxing, Trinidad, not so very long ago.

Roy looked very good vs Tito IMO

Joe looked like a scared bitch vs Hopkins

I feel that Roy Jones's downfall was moving up to heavyweight.

A guy of his skill should have been able to beat Ruiz without gaining a pound.

But once he did, and moved up in weight.........he never should have dropped back down past the Cruiserweight division.

Fighters that are advancing in age move UP, ..not DOWN.

When Jones moved back down to 175, it was obvious that he wasn't the same guy anymore.

Without making excuses, IMHO, if Roy had stayed at 175 he would have defeated both Tarver and Johnson easily.

Now that he has taken time off, and gotten his body back acclimated to his original weight...he is better than he was at Light Heavy when he fought Tarver the FIRST time, even at his advanced age.

Joe is and has always been smaller than Roy. He isn't gonna be able to SERIOUSLY hurt him with any of his shots, nor will he be quicker or faster than Jones.

I cannot see where any true boxing fan cannot see this.

I can already see what's next after this.

    RJJ vs Hopkins.

I guarantee after this one, Roy and Hops will do what they couldn't/wouldn't several years ago. Put their egos aside and make a fight for the people er I mean for their pockets. It'll be PPV too, bank on it.

I dunno how boring or exciting jones jr vs calzaghe wouldve been in the mid to late 90s but I know calzaghe would not have won any rounds. you couldn't trade with jones jr back then. either calzaghe wouldve changed up his routine or gotten fucked up

I don't know E Joe is strong. See thats the thing about Joe that I think people underestimate... or at least I always underestimated before Lacy. I mean there are different kinds of strong and a guy like Lacy looks strong for example, but Joe has appled strength.

Its true that Joe did not get credit back in the day but as Muze has pointed out to me the difference in comp between who Roy beat and who Calzaghe beat looms large.

Also regardless of the decision in Calzaghe versus Hops, one thng is certain.... Hos showed some flourishes against Joe. That is relevant, it shows that when Joe gets in against the elites, he does not dominate quite as much... even against the diminished elites.

He looked like a corpse because he's shot. Interesting logic. How do you know he's shot?

I've been saying this since 2004. As for his fight with Joe, I definitely want to see it, since this will be Roy's first true fight with Higher-Tier comp. Since Joe as been more active, it will be great test to see what RJJ really got left in the tank..

Yes, that's what it boils down to. We really don't know what he has left in the tank because of the opposition he's fought.

However, the idea that he's shot is ludicrous seeing as how he's pretty much beaten down the last three opponents he's faced, subpar or not. He beat them up but they sucked so he must be shot! Umm, ok...

We'll see what he has left against Joe C. I'm of the opinion that he's got enough in the tank - and in the head - to do the job.
