He's fighting Daniel Attah in what I believe is his first scheduled 12-rounder. It seems like Antillon has been a prospect for years now. But, it's an interesting fight, IMO, and one of three fight cards on Friday night...along with the season finale of Friday Night Fights (James Kirkland-Ricardo Cortes) and Shobox (Antonio DeMarco-Jose Reyes).
people tell me that antillon has improved a lot. i'll believe it when I see it. I remember seeing him and the santa cruz brothers in the gym when they were kids. antillon may have improved since he got lucky against valle but he still has the same chin. he can't stop the prophet!
Yeah, I remember that Ivan Valle fight. He was lucky to get past him, though it was 5 years ago. I didn't see the first round KO of Pacquiao, or most of his recent fights, so I'll be checking him out on Friday. He is ranked pretty highly now by the WBC, so he could be getting a significant fight sometime in the near future.
Antillon looked like shit in his last fight. The stoppage was suspect - even Top Rank was upset over it - and he just looked really flat overall. A shame as he looked like a beast in fights prior, and I suspect will revert to old form against Attah, who hasn't fought in a minute, is way past his best and wasn't very good to begin with. Is it a stretch to suggest that Antillon's destined to become the 130-135 lb version of Jesus Soto Karras? I thought Antillon would advance, possibly fight for a title in his next fight or two, but Top Rank's doing a wonderful job of screwing the pooch when it comes to his career.
i shook the prophet w/ a low blow in sparring. i kid you not! i cant believe he used me and couple of kids as sparring partners prior to his fight vs. santiago (the guy who recently fought luevano). of course, he got stopped in that fight.
Meanwhile in Houston, scale drama is being averted after a confessional from Jorge Basurrios that he cant make weight. (starting a separate thread)
