For something around $200,000 to fight Arreola in November, according Steve Kim:

He's probably holding out for a fight with Oscar De La Hoya.

I wonder how much he got for quitting against Toney.

He's probably holding out for David Haye. Both he and Maskaev are tops on that list.

How much bigger do you think the purse is going to be for Haye's fight?

It's not getting HBO money for the Nov. 15th date and it's going to be in London.

With Rahman and Tua both rejecting six figure paydays to face Arreola, they should instead fight each a third time - and off-TV. The winner gets one more TV fight, the loser goes the fuck away once and for all.

Why even fight? They should just go away period.

Funny that Rahman would do that seein as when they sparred a couple years back Rahman dropped Chris with a body shot, Chris did get up, and rip into Rahman but still...
Maybe he feels Chris has got a lot better since then and he has got much worse...

I didn't know that, thanks for the info.

I think we have to remember that Rahman is used to million dollar paydays. I don't know what he got for James Toney on FSN just last month, but I don't see him fighting someone with pulse for 200K.

Rahman is calling out Haye. Haye is claiming nobody will fight him. Haye needs to secure a damn fight already. It better damn well be Rahman or someone better after all the shit Haye has talked about the division.

A prime Rachman would wipe his ass with Arreola.

What exactly is a "prime" Rahman?

I think it's the version of him that's book-ended by knockout losses to Oleg Maskaev.

Rahman is garbage. Can't believe Lewis lost to him.

Yeah, Lewis didn't believe Rahman could beat him either...which is probably the only way Rahman could've pulled it off.

One thing that I'm convinced of, though, is Rahman didn't believe he could beat Lewis in the rematch.

He was one the one of the most obviously intimidated fighters I've ever seen in that fight.

Lewis made him sleep on it.

Well, he did turn down a multi-fight deal with HBO before the rematch. He said he would be worth more after he beat Lewis again.

:atu:mad:Rahman You're right. I think the number of fights was 4-5, maybe 6 but I know for sure it was worth 20 million dollars.

It's hard to turn down a suitcase of $200,000 for an offer of $17 million.

I think Rahman had substantial offers from HBO to fight Lewis and Showtime to fight Tyson right after he won the title, back when he was still with Cedric Kushner, but then he dumped him and went with Don King, who attempted to go another direction (with a fight in China) but Lewis sued and got the rematch.

Gotcha. Either way, I know there was an HBO deal on the table that he turned down. I also know he ended up making way less money than he would have.

Rahman didn't always suck. Aeriola on the other hand. Rahman probably wants to make his last few count financially as he is finished as a legitimate contender.

Having said all that I don't see Rahman having much problem with Aeriola. Aeriola is fat and soft which is why he is a heavy... that and he can fight bums right now.
