I highly doubt Abraham takes that fight. I wouldn't blame him, i'd pick Stinky.

It'd be interesting to see them fight each other with those high guards of theirs.

Winky will ask for too much money. I mean he thinks HBO is holding a January date for him, not Abraham.

Well, I've read both Rafael and Steve Kim write in the past month or more that HBO is holding a January date for The Wink.

It's a good fight, HBO should get behind it.

HBO wants it then because it keeps Winky on the shelf for almost two years at that point. Then Winky would have to fight, but I'm guessing at the middleweight limit, which even further reduces his chances, then add age in that.

I'd favor Abraham for sure in January. I think Marquez is a good fight in between now and January for Abraham.

The winky from the Taylor fight beats Abraham. Winky didn't look great at 170 against Hopkins though. 160 is as high as he should ever fight, if he isn't too rusty I think he still beats Abraham.

Maybe HBO is trying to keep Abraham away from thier new Golden Boy.

So they favor Abraham to fight the guy that's aligned with Golden Boy over the guy that's with Top Rank....the top rank guy being the person everyone wants Abraham to face?

Seems that way. It´s the only explanation, why they would want to drag Winky back into the title picture or boxing at all. Then Winky will be well over 37 years old, two years without a middleweight fight, looked like crap in a light-heavyweight bout, and it´s not like he beatTaylor easily (if at all) and that was three years ago.

they're jacking up a good opponent for pavlik - as simple as tha. winky wins, his loss to hopkins is forgivable - he becomes a marquee ppv opponent 4 pavlik. abraham wins, he erases all doubts as to his worthiness as a tough opponent 4 pavlik.

I hope you aren't referring to Pavlik. Pavlik would wax that Bum Abraham. I don't normally predict knockouts. I predict Pavlik knocks this bum the fuck out.Abraham has about a 10% more chance of beating Pavlik than Lockett. I wonder if you guys have ever seen Abraham fight. He is terrible. He is a lesser version of William Joppy.

He's just saying that Abraham has a chance against Pavlik because he's a big puncher. If Winky were to beat him it would eliminate all demand for that fight. (Pavlik-Abraham)

I don't think that's what it's about anyway though. I'm sure HBO would rather do an Abraham-Pavlik fight anyway. Easier to sell especially if he AA could beat Wright. Plus Pav is busy with the Hopkins fight anyway.

I thought Winky beat Hopkins, but he doesn't beat Abraham. Blame age, blame weight, blame taxes--it won't matter--Abraham hurts Wink and methodically pounds away for 12 rounds.

actually I'm guessing hbo would prefer a pavlik -wright fight if they could get wright at a reasonable price. abraham has had all of 1 fight on u.s. television. wright is a known name and would make for a more marketable ppv opponent

If that fight was tomorrow, yes. That's why i said 'if' Abraham beats Winky.

That would give Abraham two U.S. television performances, both against known guys.

Two undefeated big punchers would sell.

Problem is both guys could not only look less than stellar but also lose that '0'.
