Why not merge General Discussion and Mythical Matchups into one?

    You are wrong Tam Tam. Even the General Discussion doesn't have a lot of activity. I guarentee you that if you make a seperate forum for "passed boxing" that the activity will be low aswell. People just don't write a reaction anymore in Mythical Matchups because they do not want to wait long for a reaction. Mythical Matchups is an essential part of boxing discussion. The number of boxingforums without a seperate "Mythical Matchips" far outnumers the boxingforums with a mythical matchups forum. Only if you have a site with hige activity, a seperate MM forum would work. The activity at fightbeat is average. The Roy Jones forum was also closed because of plummeting acivity. The Roy Jones discussion continued in the General discussion forum. The same thing can be done to the MM forum.

    MM was kept separate back in the old Secondsout days because much of it was about animal or poster matchups. It's a legacy thing. Now it is limited to boxing, it just further fragments the boxing discussion on this site. In theory, every Floyd topic should now be in MM. But that would be stupid, right? Maybe we should have a separate forum for classic boxing? For amateur boxing? The only reason you have separate forums like this is when you have overwhelming traffic. We don't.

    We need a separate forum for discussing changes to the forum, but that forum needs 14 separate sub-forums for each forum we may want to discuss. It's the fightbeat way.

    The MMA forum should indeed be higher than it is now. The interest in MMA keeps growing. With MMA having a more prominent position, the site will attract more MMA fans. These MMA fans might start posting in the boxingforum aswell. This way the traffic will grow even faster.
