katsidis made old ass casamayor look awesome.

i like the aussie but he's a limited guy w/ some power. he doesnt even punch as hard as gatti.

some are forgetting that diaz was a unified champ not too long ago w/ wins over world champions.

But unlike Cotto, Katsidis can really, REALLY crack. If Diaz thinks he can walk through Katsidis' shots landing crisp and flush like Cotto's did for half a fight on Saturday, he will find himself horizontal and staring at the lights in short order.

Diaz will go looking for Katsidis and Katsidis will go looking for Diaz. Diaz does not have any power whatsoever. Katsidis does.

And where this mythical notion of Diaz somehow being leagues better than Katsidis technically has come from I have no idea. People obviously forget that, after starting like a moron, Katsidis beat the hell out of Casa for eight rounds before his silly overconfidence got the better of him again and he got himself KO-ed.

I can't tell whether some people are being serious or not in this thread. Either way, Katsidis is being ridiculously underestimated here.

Agreed. Some ppl in this thread are talking about Diaz as if he was a prime Chavez or something. Juan's not indestructable, or invincible, the Campbell fight should have showed that. Even if he beats Katsidis(which is possible), it'll be a hellacious fight for him. Unless he badly cuts Kat, or stops him early, Kat's strength and power are gonna be trouble for Juan in the late going. Logic points to a Diaz win, but my gut says that Kat is gonna bomb him out eventually.

Also Neil, I disagree with you. I'd pick Kat to beat every opponent Diaz has beaten. Fruitass was shot, and had no desire to fight left in him by time Diaz fought him(Chico beat all the fight outta him). Kat would have made Fruitass quit as well. And Kat would have bombed out the very mediocre WHOlio Diaz in about 6 rounds.

And people in this thread are talking as though Katsidis was a prime Mike Tyson. Sure he can crack, but he's done it against questionable competition - sure he hurt Casa but who hasn't lately?

I simply question his durability which is nowhere near the level of Margarito - he was dropped 3 times and stopped against an average puncher in Casa in his last fight! Casa was also able to stun Katsidis by punching WITH him, which is something Diaz will be looking to do. Call me crazy, but despite his feather-fistedness, I think Diaz is gonna be able to stun and HURT Katsidis if he catches him while Katsidis is throwing.

Diaz' has proved his durability in a foul filled fight with Campbell AND despite getting his ass kicked, his continued to walk forward and throw punches.

If Katsidis wins, I'll give him all the credit in the world, but I'm taking Diaz in this one.

dude if it werent for those two knockdowns, katsidis would've lost to that tyro filipino who busted him up for 12 rounds.

diaz might not be a new chavez, but katsidis isnt even a new gatti.

win or lose, julio diaz would've busted katsidis up. diaz beat his ass in a onesided fashion and made his ass quit.

I would take issue with this bud.

I don't think I would describe Casa as an average puncher- he has a decent dig but because he is such a sound technician (the old bastard) and times his shots so well, his punches are gonna be above average level in effectiveness.

Diaz, on the other hand, is featherfisted. Universally accepted as such too. His punch volume and workrate means that he can quite easily hurt Katsidis, sure, but of the two, Katsidis is by far more likely to throw the more hurtful shots IMHO.

Either way, this one is gonna be a barnstormer

MTF is making Kat seem like Tyson, I'm not. I never said Kat was on the level of Tyson, I simply think he'll beat Diaz. I dont think Kat hits quite as hard as MTF is making it seem, but he can crack. Probably harder than Campbell. And make no mistake about it, he'll land on Diaz alot. I dont why some are under the impression that Diaz somehow is gonna develop a defense.

And whilst Kat does get cut up alot, Diaz's skin isnt actual tough itself. Theres a great chance that by time the fight ends BOTH fighters will be a bloody mess.

Csar Amonsot... Too bad it was a close decision against a guy who has been knocked out by some unknown Filipino twice before. Sucks if you're suppose to be the p4p Puncher in the world.

Oh yeah and looking like a trainwreck victim afterwards must have impressed some people here, too.

@ xplosive - nobody is making Diaz the next Chavez here or something. But at least he beat some name fighters.

everything happened last night exactly as expected - a slow execution by juarez (pulled out of the hat my ass) and a decision win, due in major part to his defense, for Diaz.

i'm through picking with my heart. not with the shit this board doles out when you get your prediction wrong.

:lol:poop was getting handled. Poop Juarez is an unwatchable fighter. He should never be on tv ever again. I felt even with the paid off judges and thecorrupt referee (a Poop staple) he need a lucky kayo to be Barrios. I have seen a more level playing field in Germany.

well - you're as dumb as the rest of them with that perception of the fight. juarez is too careful and too patient. no doubt. but that comes from being smart in the ring and thoughtful. it's his style. he's not a balls to the walls mindless brawler - he's looking for the execution. and most of the time, more than 90% of it, he's laid the foundation for it and then found it. that's exactly what he did last night. barrios' didn't leave a mark on juarez.

:lol:Rocky is easily one of the worst fighters to watch in boxing today. He was getting his ass handed to him by a slightly retarded lizard man from tierra del fuego.

Only for the fact that Barrios got completely gassed. This fight almost played out EXACTLY like Barrios' fight with Fruitass!!

Juarez was clearly busting up and breaking down Barrios....whereas Barrios fought like the moron he is and did next to no damage to Rocky. Juarez took his time...too long, and the fight was close...but he didn't "pull it out". Juarez did what he needed to do to set Barrios up for that fall.

Barrios was forced to gas himself. Poop Juarez did nothing but stand there and lose rounds. The corrupt referee and it turned out the judges made him go for broke. Barrios is a real fighter, however talentless. He knew that he had to fight the ref and the judges and he went out "kill or be killed style." He got killed. Juarez desveres nothing but scorn and a banning for life from National television. Juarez once again bennefits from a corrupt referee and judges.

Im not defending Juarez as a talent or as a fighter. I've attacked him enough times on here to not have to worry about that.... but Juarez beat Barrios' ass clear and fair. The ref didn't turn Jorge's face into dog food, did he.

I think it was a huge factor. His corner was telling him in Spanish that he needed to not let the judges decide. Obviously, the referee warning him and taking points 2 times for non-fouls fed into his fears. Juarez busted up a guy who was not really defending himslef. Barrios was outclassing and outboxing Poop until the end when Barrios felt he was runnign out of time and went for a kayo. Barrios looked like Larry Holmes jabbing Poop's face off. I don't see it as anything other than a questionable win. It is hard to fight a referee and judges in the other guys backyard. Just my opinion.
