http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/09/10/report-affliction-ii-postponed-until-january/ 700 tickets? That's beyond terrible. Looks like it's one and done for Affliction. Like I said from the start, good fighters, good fights, terrible business plan. TFK
When you're paying guys as much as they did in the first show, it's bound to fail. The other thing is the second show started falling apart, the only good fight left was Arlovski vs Barnett. That's just not enough.
Well, perhaps they need to stick close to The Pond the way Strikeforce does with the HP and try to rely on a local following for attendance. The show certainly was hurt by the rumored names that fell out, including Fedor, and having it in Vegas the same night as Chad Dawson-Antonio Tarver wasn't going to help it.
 Think about how long it took the UFC to get where it is today. It sure as hell didn't happen in just a couple shows. These new promotions need to start small and build up to the big time. They should find a home base someplace not named Vegas, and develop a good local following and go from there. Their roster as of now is lacking, they have some good HW's but what else do they have? They need to start building up some young up and comers and recruiting some talent from the lower weight classes. Basically they are trying to be big overnight and it's not happening.
700 tickets? Wow, that's painful. Those guys are gonna be swimming in red ink. They're gonna have to sell a lot of t-shirts. ::
