This should be as entertaining as any free MMA event can possibly be. Neer-Diaz alone is a great fight. Both guys are very capable, experienced and on a bit of a roll. Guida-Danzig promised to be a great brawl simply because it involves Clay Guida. He can't be in a dull fight. Add Danzig to the equation and it should be a competitve scrap that could go either way at any moment.
Look like a good free card. I'm excited about it. Something to watch on a wednesday night. Clay Guida is never in a boring fight. That fight will be good for sure. My only complaint is the Louzon fight not being on the main card. I like that goofy kid. Houston Alexander is also on the card. So you know someone's getting knocked out, whether it's Houston or the other guy I don't know.
REED Doesn't Know if UFC Has a "Fight of the Year" Award, but if so, THIS Fight will Definitely B a Candidate... Guida's Nickname Should B "Balls to the Wall", Cause that's How Dude Fights...He's VERY EASY to Like... & Danzig Ain't No Slouch Either... REED:hammert:
Damn, I know we already knew this, but Alexander is TERRIBLE on the ground. The crowd was live for this fight, hopefully this doesn't kill them. If Alexander isn't gonna learn a ground game, he should quit MMA and become a boxer. If not, he's gonna end up getting hurt. TFK
Good card. Especially LIVE for FREE! Danzig is such a great technical fighter....but was obviously smaller and weaker than Guida. Nate Diaz is getting better with every fight, and, as young as he is....is destined for greater things. The kid is a loudmouth that seems like a punk at times. But he is verrrrrry skilled, tricky and ambitious and tough. Houston Alexander is capable of blowing anyone out on his feet.....but once he is off his feet, he is a sitting duck.
I was not that impressed with Diaz, he looked winded after the second round, but some guys are just meant to be underachievers. That was Neer´s fight to lose going into the 3rd round and he achieved it laying on his back for four minutes, giving Diaz the breathing room he needed.
Yep anybody with good hands will be in boxing. The only boxers that have been in MMA are the shitty ones with no chance of doing shit in boxing. Its way easier to make it into the UF then to be fighting on HBO.
Man, just as I thought, a great night of fights. I hope in the gym Houston Alexander is spending every moment working on stuffing take downs because when he gets on his back it's an automatic loss. I love Clay Guida. The guy just said fuck it, my stand up isn't as good as yours, my jiu-jitsu isn't as good as yours, so I'm just gonna snatch your ass in the air and slam you like this is the WWE. Danzig is a capable dude but he had no answer for Guida's pressure and strength. I know there seems to be a lot of hate for Diaz, but he's a talented guy. How many times did Neer have a dominant position only to be reversed? At least 3 times I said "Oh shit, he's about to get choked out" and then he's got Neers back. And for those that care about the results of the under card: Alessio Sakara def. Joe Vedepo via knockout (head kick)—Round 1, 1:27 Wilson Gouveia def. Ryan Jensen via submission (arm-bar)—Round 2, 2:04 Joe Lauzon def. Kyle Bradley via TKO (strikes)—Round 2, 1:34 Jason Brilz def. Brad Morris via TKO (strikes)—Round 2, 2:54 Mike Massenzio def. Drew McFedries via submission (kimura)—Round 1, 1:28 Dan Miller def. Rob Kimmons via submission (rear-naked choke)—Round 1, 1:27 All in All, a entertaining card. Did anyone see Clay Guida's fat ass brother fail to make 205 pounds for a spot on TUF?
It wasn't a good nigfht for the brothers of UFC fighters on the new season of TUF. Rashad's brother got kicked in the ribs and quit, while Guida's brother couldn't even make weight. Maybe if he hadn't of cried the whole time they would have let him lose that one extra pound. :: I loved it how the one dude who was talking all crazy about Hitler and shit got his ass whooped and quit. That blond kid beat him down.
agREED... Outside of Punching HARD, Alexander has NO OTHER Traits that would Carry Over to Boxing... REED:hammert:
Let's B HONEST, TFK... Alexander's "Boxing" BLOWS...His STANCE, the Positioning of his HANDS, his Punching TECHNIQUE & the WAY his Chin is just HANGING N the Air, As if on a PLATTER, DYING to Get Clocked... Chuck Liddell More Closely RESEMBLES a "Boxer" than Alexander EVER Could & Chuck WOULDN'T Fare Well as a Boxer Either... Alexander HITS Hard, but that's ALL he Brings to "Boxing"...Do U Think James Irvin is a Good "Boxer"???...He WASTED Alexander... REED:hammert:
Reed, I'm not saying Alexander can be a good boxer, and I'm not trying to start a retarded Hanzy-esque 'who is better, boxers or MMA fighters' argument, because they're 2 different sports. What I am saying is, Alexander has zero skills on the ground. He has no takedown defense. He has no submission skills. For as bad as his 'boxing' may be, that's by far the strongest point of his MMA game. If Alexander is not gonna even bother to learn to ground fight, and he just wants to rely on throwing punches, he's better off being a boxer than an MMA fighter. He'd have a much better chance of suceeding in a sport that doesn't continually expose his biggest weaknesses, like MMA has. It's a shame too, because he comes off as a pretty good guy. TFK
agREED... U'd have to Go Back to the EARLIEST Days of UFC to Find a Guy as 1 Dimensional as Houston Alexander is...He HITS Hard, Throws GREAT Knees Out of the Clinch, but that's about It... Every Other Facet of his MMA Game is SUAR...& Considering Alexander's ALREADY 36, REED Can't See him LEARNING Any New Tricks... He WOULDN'T Do Well @ Pro Boxing Either, but there'd B MORE Longevity for Alexander as a Journeyman Boxer than as a Journeyman MMAist... Shit, even Kimbo Slice is ARGUABLY Better on the Ground than Alexander Is... REED:kidcool:
Guida was a Bit Toooooooooo DEFENSIVE Early & it Cost him the 1st Round N REED's Opinion...But then he just OUTMANNED Danzig, which is NOT an Easy Feat... Mac was VISIBLY Sucking Wind by the 3rd Round::...Guida ISN'T the Most Talented MMAist N the World, but his MOTOR is Incredible...To Call him "High Energy" is an UNDERSTATEMENT... The Fight Wasn't QUITE as Exciting as REED Hoped, but it was Still Enjoyable, as All Clay Guida Bouts Seem to B... REED Loooooooooooooooooves Nate Diaz... It's EASY to Talk Shit when U're a MEAN Looking, MUSCLEBOUND Cat, but Diaz is SKINNY as Fuck & Looks about 17 N the Face::...He Certainly Doesn't LOOK Tough, but Dude Clearly Is... Diaz is the POLAR OPPOSITE of Houston Alexander...Alexander is 1-Dimensional; Diaz has INFINITE Dimensions... Diaz's ONLY "Weakness" is his LACK of Physical Strength...Neer was MUSCLING Him Around Pretty Good EARLY N the Fight...But Diaz's SKILL Level Eventually Compensated... Nate's 1 of REED's Absolute FAVORITE MMAist's...Nate SEALED the Deal for REED when he Flipped the Bird & Flexed his 10 Inch Pythons, while Simultaneously Having a TRIANGLE on a Guy::...CLASSIC Moment!!!... He Talks ALOT of Shit, yet his Tall, Lanky Ass is MORE than Willing to Back it Up...& as he MATURES, his LACK of Strength will Become Less & LESS of an Issue.... REED:hammert:
Because All he'd have to Worry about is the HANDS of his Opponent... The FEWER Body Parts, Holds & Manuevers Alexander has to Concern Himself w/, the BETTER... @ Least N Boxing, when the Going Got TOUGH, Alexander could COVER or CLINCH...N MMA, he's Got about a Million OTHER Things to Worry about... Regardless, Alexander would SUCK N Boxing as Well... REED:hammert:
I'll disagree and heres why. In boxing he might only have hands to worry about but he has zero chance of winning. He will get beat up worse in boxing then he will in MMA. In MMA you have a much better chance of landing a lucky blow and all it seems to take now adays is one win to get a title shot, so in MMA he is one punch away from a title shot. He actually has wins over top 10 ranked fighters in his weight class whcih further supports the fact he should stay in MMA.
NOBODY Knew about Alexander when he Caught Jardine Slipping...Now that "The Book" is OUT on him, it's DOUBTFUL to REED that Alexander will EVER Beat a Top 10 Lightheavy Again... He's a JOURNEYMAN MMAist @ Best...He's NOT Even Good Enough to B Considered a "Gate Keeper"... REED:hammert:
I agree with you on Houston in MMA. But RJJP4P is right on the boxing Journeyman. Houston would never be a boxing journeyman. Houston would get schooled by the local club fighter who is the fan favorite of the local Indian Casino. He would never get to a journeyman status. When I think of Journeyman boxers, I think of guys like Edner Cherry and Emanuel Augustus. Guys that may have never won a title but had a chance and now are the journeymen in their weight classes. Wins over them mean something still. Houston would never accomplish that in boxing. But in MMA, he has that one punch KO power that will leave him always as a threat. He has a name for himself because of it. Now he will be that MMA journeyman that they will match young guys against. If you can't get by him, you have no business in the UFC.
But he did beat Jardine a top 10 fighter at 205. Jardine beat Chuck Lidell in his very next fight. MMA is so much different to boxing in the sense that losing fights doesn't mean that much. Hes not a journeyman in MMA, hes probably still top 15 in his weight class and like i said one or two wins from a title shot. In Boxing he would be getting his ass whupped by sparring partners with no chance of ever becoming shit at 36 with no fights. In boxing you don't get title fights off of one win aka Brock Lesnar.
