Gray: Antonio you have said that Chad is the future and you’re the now. What gives you the indication that he’s not the ‘now’ and the future as well?


Tarver: Well, I feel like I’m at the top of my game. I just took the IBF title from Clinton Woods. I’m here. I’m the unified champion, four-time light heavyweight champion, twice undisputed. I’ve done it all. I’ve beaten everybody so why wouldn’t I feel like I’m the now and he can be the future?


Gray: Chad do you feel Antonio is way past his prime?


Chad Dawson: Yes, definitely past his prime. Look at his last three performances. They speak for themselves. Just look at Clinton Woods. He can’t even beat a ‘paycheck.’ Clinton Woods didn’t put up a fight…. He came to collect a paycheck.

The interviews were better than the edited transcript... particularly the part where Grey asked Tarver about his weight, that rumors had him hovering around 200 lb. Tarver calmly yet boldly put him in his place, flat out telling him his sources were seriously off and that he weighed 188 at his last sparring session a day ago.

One thing I didn't get was Chad citing Tarver's last three performances, when Chad looked far worse for the wear in their last respective bouts. agREED that Woods seemingly showed up just for the payday, but it still also had to do with Tarver's performance - much like what Glen Johnson did resulted in Dawson's worst performance to date.

Chad Dawson looked like he wanted to kill Milkdud. With any luck it might happen.

 

Dawson is going to smash tarver. he's a lot quicker at this point of his career. Tarver is going to hate the speed difference. As for tarver knocking Dawson out? Tarver has lost the snap on his punches it's not going to happen. Dawson beats Tarver's ass and may even make him quit.

Dawson was so poor against what is left of Johnson last time out that I couldn't pick him with any certainty to beat Milkdud, though I would certainly welcome the sight of Tarver spread across the canvas like cream cheese on a bagel...

I had Dawson winning 115-113. IMO Dawson didn't fight bad, Johnson fought VERY well to make the fight close. He showed a lot better stamina than the fights prior to Dawson. Johnson is a tough guy when he fights that well.

 

I like your way of thinking. The odds for Dawson Ko 7-12 are pretty good.

 

i thought johnson beat dawson. just can't see how dawson won 7 rounds in that fight.

clinton woods sucks, but tarver beat him much easier than johnson did.

stylistically though, dawson's going to give him hell. tarver's old and can't punch like he used to. he still might punch hard enough to lay dawson out, but i doubt it.
