Finally I've made up my mind that I just can't handle the duties of the site so I think it's time I step down. I've said this before but I was never 100% sure. NOW I know that the site is ready for some new blood with some new ideas. I've enjoyed serving you guys and I hope I can still be part of the new site once it's sold. However, I'll always stick around. With that in mind the site is up to the best offer within the next month unless I get a respectable offer sooner. Please don't offer me $500, or $501 for the comedians. I'm not looking for a lot, but a somewhat fair amount. I have no idea what that amount is but I'm in that frame of mind that what wasn't a good offer might seem like it now. Just ready to move on with my life and do other things. You can contact me at fightbeat@Gmail.com . Regards, Carlos "Cupey" Guzman
yeah i mean 500 might not sound like a ton...but there's reality not much (any) quality on the homepage
I honestly would't know what a WEBSITE IS WORTH. Cupey can't very well say what he wants lest a chump offer 5times what the site is worth. IMO, $500 is 5 times the amount it is worth anyway. Cupey is going to want sentimental value and if that is the case, I don't even try.
considering the fact that the site's been around for more than 5 years and during that time, people have been getting credentialed to attend major events is something. whether or not people go to the homepage, at the very least, the site name itself is recognized by PRs and some promoters. plus, it would only take a few people to contribute and manage the site which already has a web layout and a message board that people use daily. unless i needed some money right away, i wouldnt sell it for less than 5000.
You should have posted that because I wanted to buy it, but not for that much. I do think the site could fetch that amount for sure.
well that's just my opinion. cupey might feel otherwise, especially if he needs money. i mean, say they were like 10 offers and the highest bid was about 1500. he either has to sell it for that amount or prolong it until he gets a better offer. or someone should delete my posts in regards to this subject haha.
weren't a group of nerdy posters like stevedave going to chip in and buy it last time? maybe they're still up for it
well currently there are no major expenses. The server costs about $43 a month, and I pay like $10-15 for audio recording services. Regarding the homepage, there are lot of people on this board that could contribute, it's just a matter of organizing those people. Joony is absolutely correct regarding the FightBeat name. We get credentialed for 99.9% of the events we requests credentials--THIS INCLUDES UFC! Karl Hegman has to gone to UFC events and so has a few other people. We have someone going to Mayorga-Mosley and there will be no problems for Calzaghe-Jones IMO. The name is recognized and respected. As far as dollars, the situation has changed on how I feel about things and although I got some very nice offers nice time I was still thinking with my heart. Regarding revenue, I only use google and even that I believe I don't use fully because I just don't have time to fix things or implement the proper codes. But it easily covers any expenses you have a month. I hope that helps. Cupey
I think when you own something you take pride in it. But I could easily see myself taking a partner and having them run it. I'll listen to all ideas, offers, and then concluded ASAP. Cupey
Regardless of who purchases the site (if anyone) I'll put my hand out to help out with articles. I'm ready.
If Cupey isn't crying "Wolf" again..... Cupey, will you make sure the next owner(s) have the e-mail notification working?
damn...you guys would have done spectacular things with fightbeat, with radio shows all the time who were the other stupid nerds that wanted to buy it with you?
Well my main concern is that it goes to someone that will ensure the survival of our forums. We have a small but great community of posters. Cupey
I'm sorry, but this site is not worth $5000. It's been around for a long time, and it's recognized, but very few sites are genuinely respected. I'd say only 3 are. I had my own site going for about a year, and I got turned down for only only one event I applied to, and that was mostly due to me being late on my credential application. As small and shitty as my site was, I was still able to get multiple people credentialed to a single event. I couldn't get 2 at every event, but always one. I even had three for Pavlik-Taylor I. I learned from creating my own website that depite the amount of money you pour into your own site, it's really not worth much to other people when it comes to selling. And I know Carlos has spent more than a pretty penny on the site over the course of the 5 years that I've known him. It's a shame that it's come to this, because Carlos really did pour his heart and soul into this, despite what some people might think. I hope he gets a generous offer from someone who is willing to make as easy a transition as possible. It's a stretch that it happens, but that's what I'll be hoping for.
Good luck Cupey. I hope steve_dave stops being a cheap miser and offers you a pretty penny. steve_dave needs to learn responsibility and holding the reigns to FightBeat will make him finally grow up and be a man.
did you ever consider partnering up with another site that doesn't have a forum? This way, whatever staffers you have remaining (which, if the home page is any indication, is limited to REED and Miguel Salazar) could possibly jump on board w/ said site, and you still maintain the M/B community - one that's now exposed to another website, with both now having the potential for growth. I know it's easier said than done, but at the same time might be easier than just selling for far less than you hoped.
