Or have you forgotten about him already and could care less? It's weird. Prime of his career and he ups and leaves and even now, it's like he's vanished from the face of the earth. No side projects, nothing. No mention of Floyd anywhere. He could be facing Margarito right now for like 20 million bucks.
What a whacko! How 'bout it Reed? What's your boy up to? Why's he wasting his prime when he could be making millions getting his head torn off by Margie? It's not like Pretty Boy is doing anything important anyway. S'up with the dude?

I saw him at Bank @ Bellagio Sunday. Looked in shape. Had about 30 black dudes with him.

He seems to have been forgotten quite easily. There's hardly even any talk of him.

I think Floyd hoped people would miss him more.

Personally I don't miss him at all. He's dislikeable and annoying, and his fights are rarely exciting.

if pacquiao can some how beat oscar (maybe on cuts?), i think mayweather would come out of retirement and fight him.

other than that, i dont care to see him fight.

.....a little, but i don't think anyone has stepped up to the plate enough to demand a comeback.....we thought Cotto would be that guy, and Margarito put a stop to that

.....if anyone, i am missing Roger more......they could do a reality show on him.....

No, I don't miss Floyd one iota.

For those who do, he's on Ludacris' new CD and he and Roger will be in the video when it comes out.

Secondly, the minute Pacquiao beats Oscar, he'll want to fight him.

    "However"

I doubt there's enough money to make the fight...better yet...I'm not certain Floyd would want to take the split that's offered or if Arum would bother doing business with "Mayweather Promotions."

if that fight somehow gets made, it will probably a co-promotion between top rank and golden boy.

I hope PBF takes the Lennox approach and stay retired. So far it's going great. He hasn't really talked about "what it would take" for him to get back in the ring. That's half the battle.

It sure beats DLH's retirement tour:eek:ld:

Actually I really, really do hope Floyd makes a comeback and gets beaten senseless.

It won't happen just yet, but it's inevitable. However much money flid has, it won't last long.

Why would any real fan miss Floyd? It's not as if he was looking to make fights that actually mattered when he was fighting. Why would anyone care if he came back or not? If he did, it would be for the money and he'd pick some safe name to fight that would make him the most money.

I won't ever miss Floyd, and when Oscar retires I won't miss him either. I don't give a shit about any fighter that is only out to make money taking the easiest possible fights.

Fuck all these businessmen. Give me real fighters. Guys that fight because they actually want to prove they are the best.

Oscar should not be remembered for making the easiest possible fights. He's been doing it for about a year now, but that's not his legacy. That's crap.

I do miss Floyd. I think he is the best fighter I have seen fight live - possibly ever. Throw Whitaker in there. And maybe the best fighter i have seen fight in his prime this side of Duran at lightweight....

plus he left so many good possible fights on the table. i don't think floyd ducked anyone and actually rate his competition pretty high, but he could have done so much more

Any time a fighter of his caliber leaves the sport in or around his prime, it leaves a void.

And that is only exacerbated by the overabundance of fossils that currently inhabit HBO's WCB and PPV broadcasts.

  23. Joe King

Joe King WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Fixed. After Hopkins and the KO loss/lay down, he clearly didn't want to face any puncher. PBF was a smaller guy and a big name with huge money potential low beat down potential. That's exactly what Pacquaio is as well, but even smaller than PBF.

  24. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Pretty Boy was also the best fighter in the world at the time.

  25. Joe King

Joe King WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

And Pacquaio is now. That doesn't change the fact that both had to meet the bigger DLH at a catchweight. Why didn't DLH fight PBF at 147 then?

  26. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Floyd is a lot bigger than Pacquiao.

Floyd wanted Oscar for the money so he moved up.

  27. Joe King

Joe King WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Weird. You didn't answer the question.

  28. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

Sure I did. But to make it a little more clear, Oscar had a WBC belt at 154, and since he was the draw/money maker, he had Floyd move up for a shot. That's why they didn't fight at 147. Also, at the time, Oscar had not fought below 154 since 2000. I hope that answers your question.

There hasn't been a day I wasn't thinking about Floyd ever since he retired.
Usually, at the end of each week I rewatch some of his toughest battles (Emanuel Augustus, ODLH, Corrales) but, on occasion, I pop in a tape of one of his classic beatdowns (Castillo, Baldomir, Judah).
When a fighter, who's beaten the best of the best at 130,135,140,147,154, and 160 retires, it doesn't just leave a void, it leaves a huge gap in boxing community, and Floyd's retirement has been no exception.
Sure, the wounds will heal with time, but will there be another Floyd? Probably not.Dropped Miguel Cotto with a swat of his tongue.
