Still some issues to resolve before a possible January date...and John has a fight coming up in October.

chavez/katsidis is a great fight. katsidis might actually be able to win this one.

    You think so?

I haven't seen Chavez fight since the Julio Diaz loss...but it kinda seems like a rehab assignment for Katsidis.

that's what i'm saying - it's a winnable fight for katsidis - unlike his lasy two.

chavez was special at 126 (unfortunately his time there was cut short due to his exportation from the U.S.), good at 130, but at 135? he doesn't have the size.

katsidis is mean and he hits hard, and he's courageous, but he dosn't know how to box at all, isn't very athletic, and is pretty predictable. this is why even though chavez will probably get stopped, he'll pick katsidis apart early on.

Given their limitations, Katsidis-Kid Diamond might be an alright fight.

i highly doubt john-juarez will come through. john also has a tough defense ahead of him in japan.

With that Club fighter Katsidis ending up in a morgue? Shot Chavez is an even bet with a "prime" Katsidis.

We'll see. The Chavez that fought on the undercard of Diaz v Katsidis wouldn't stand a chance with a top 20 fighter.

I agree but we were talking about Katsidis not a fighter good enough to be in the top 20.

Jesus Chavez was a beast at one time, they haven't showed him on TV in ages so I'm not sure, but losing to Julio Diaz was a surprise to me.:boohoo:

If Katsidis loses to Chavez, he should retire immediately.

It will make for a good double header......Katsidis' style won't make it an easy fight against the tough, game Chavez.....despite what he might be lacking in size and youth

John must be the world champ with the least exposure.......if he is a top top class performer, then Juarez will force that kind of performance out of him

I hate to be pissy about relatively competitive match-ups but I don't see why either Chavez, who is well past his best, or even Katsidis who has lost on both his last HBO dates and lopsidedly last time around, deserve dates on the premium boxing channel between them.

Plus John is pretty decent but not must-see TV material, I would be interested if he were facing Gamboa or maybe Guerrero, Soto or LInares at 130 but not fucking Rocky Juarez.

Either or both these fights might be entertaining (probably not the juarez-john fight) but surely they can rustle together better match-ups than these

Oscar said after the fight at the press conference three weeks ago that he was going to put another card on in Houston in the near future, so the report must be legit.

Chavez was a shell of his former self that Saturday night, washed up even though he won, and Katsidis will flatten him, and hard.

DelaHoya also said that night that "Chris Johns' people just called and he wants Rocky as his title defense after the next upcoming one" or something similar to that.

No way Juarez gets down to 126 again, the kid is too thick and stocky now to ever get down that low again.

I don't know if John is a good fight for the guy, he will try to stink Rocky out by getting on his bicycle and moving all night, and as we all know Juarez is at his best vs. a target that is in front of him.

    Perhaps...until the scorecards are announced.

I'd actually prefer open scoring when Juarez fights in Houston.
