REED Likes Boxing MORE but Now That REED has Started Watching MMA, he's a LIFELONG Fan of that Sport As Well...

The BEST MMA Fight REED has Personally Seen was Chuck vs. Wanderlai...But REED has Seen Countless Boxing Matches that were On Par w/or BETTER than Chuck vs. Wanderlai...

REED Still ISN'T @ the Point where he can FULLY Appreciate the Nuances of an MMA Bout Waged Almost Exclusively on the GROUND...That Probably has an Impact on REED's Perception of a "Good" MMA Fight...Chuck vs. Wanderlai was Basically a Stand Up, BoxingISH BRAWL w/4oz. Gloves...

But Having Said that, there's MUCH More Consistent "Action" N a Typical MMA Bout than a Boxing Match...The Level of VIOLENCE N MMA is Greater & therefore More ATTENTION GRABBING...

I love both sports. I really wouldn't say I like MMA more than Boxing though. I've been watching boxing since I was a kid and have watched MMA since UFC started back in the mid 90's. All I can say is that there are many more boxing matches that stand out in my mind than MMA matches.

REED, a very good fight that was fought mostly on the ground that I know you will enjoy is Karo Parisyan vs Nick Diaz. Check it out. Some great escapes and transitions. Just an awesome display of ground skill.

The Parisan-Diaz fight is by far the best ground oriented fight i have seen. UFC 49 is probably my favourite UFC event. I forget what the lightweight fight was but that dude got KTFO by a flying kick and Chuck Lidell beating the shit out of White was very entertaining. It's pretty amazing that a card headlined by Randy Coture and Vitor Belfort could be my favourite UFC event. I hate watching both of them guys with a passion.

Another good ground orientated fight is Matsui-Newton. That was either Pride 5 or 6. Matsui was in a bunch of entertaining fights. Way more then any other MMA fighters i can think of.

I love MMA as shown by my postings in here. However, I haven't seen an MMA fight yet that moved me like Ali-Frazier, Pryor-Arguello, Leonard-Hearns, Holyfield-Qawi, to name just a few.

The chances of an MMA card being more entertaining is far greater than a boxing card, but nothing really compares to those classic boxing encounters.

Realistically though, those classic boxing moments are becoming fewer and the great MMA matchups are growing.

I can't really decide whether the best boxing match I've seen is better than the best MMA fight I've seen, in the same way I can't decide if the best baseball game I've seen is better than the best football game I've seen.

What I can say is, that fight for fight, you have a much better good fight\crappy fight ratio in MMA than you do boxing, and a boring 12 round boxing match is much more painful to watch than a boring 5 round MMA fight.

I'm more into boxing nowadays, but its not really a fair comparison. Boxing has been around over 10x as long.

I would argue that goes both ways. The length of a boxing match only adds to the truly great fights.

I love em both. Both sports can have their boring matches as well as their barn burners. The think that I do like better about MMA though is that the cards are usually stacked compared to boxing and they fight more often as well.

Boxing is definately my favorite, but MMA is closing in quickly. I love the diversification of the sport.

I grew up watching boxing and being a RABID boxing fan in the 70's.

Deep in my heart, I will always love boxing more, but right now MMA is better imho.

Chuck vs. Wanderlei is about the 100th best MMA fight I have ever seen.

I am a fan of the live event. And I have still yet to see an MMA event that comes close to the boxing events I have seen. I know exactly what John Madden means when he says "I love the smell of a locker room". I do too. I workout in a gym 4-5 times a week. Its a mixed gym of boxers and MMA guys. At the local level. Local professional boxing beats out local MMA by a mile. Local boxers who have no shot at a world title let alone a world ranking, still show off nice skill. The local MMA fights are hacks. Bad fighters wishing for a haymaker to land. Now at the elite level its a different story and I know that. But I still think the Elite boxing events are better live than elite MMA events.

My Dad was able to get me to go back in the locker room and meet my hero John "The Beast" Mugabi as a kid before his fight with Marvin Hagler. I also got to see Mugabi cry in the locker room afterwards. No fight will ever be able to replace that in my heart, mind, and soul. So as you can see, this post is completely biased and that's just the way it is.:hammert:

Good post and I'd like to add that the club level boxing matches are better than the club level MMA matches.

the reason why the best boxing matches are better than the best mma fights is because when fighters get knocked down they get an 8 count and thus have a greater chance of recovery and scoring a comeback KO. In mma when you get knocked down you're usually fucked, the other guy jumps on the fallen guy and finishes him off.

the best mma matches I have seen are probably Parysian/Sanchez, and Shogun Rua/Smaller Noguiera.

Gatti makes a strong point. Corrales/Castillo was awesome because of the see-saw action and kd's. Corrales would have had a much harder time coming back in MMA.

I like MMA but it doesnt compare to the great fights in boxing. Nothing beats a great fight in boxing IMO. The level of drama in MMA is not like a boxing fight to me. The 12 round classics are longer (36min total compared to 25min), it is standup so the action is usually a little bit more fluid (although I do like grappling), there seems to be more ebbs and flows in the action due to the number of rounds, and the production values are higher. The biggest of course, is that boxing's history dwarfs MMA's, so naturally there is going to be a bigger history there.

I'm just curious LOK. When Boxing does shit in MMA's mouth and on its chest, Is that one shit or is it two shits What I mean, is it like a big huge "morning after partying" beer shit that kind of splats all over getting both the chest and mouth? Or is it two solid shits that are separate of each other:dunno:?

Those are the best, especially when you can feel them lowering through your intestines. Coming off the throne about ten pounds lighter.

I haven't been able to get on as much for the past few months. I coach my son's Pop Warner Football team and it takes up all my free time. I love the shit though, He had two solo tackles and a sack in last weeks game. HE'S A BEAST!:partie:

Sure its been around longer but you can still judge boxing to mma from 1993. Fights like Morales-Barrera, Corrales-Castillo, Marquez-Vazquez, Tito-Vargas happened after 93 and they are way better then any MMA fights. If i really wanted i could list another 50-100 fights but im a busy guy who doesn't have the time to do that.

And I could list 50-100 MMA fights that were just as good or better than the fights you listed.

It's all in the opinion of the viewer.
