Shane Called Berto a "Young Lion" & Said Berto Reminded him of HIMSELF...The Most POSITIVE Thing he Said about a Berto Matchup was "I Don't Know"...

There's NOT Much Else Out There @ 147 N Terms of MONEY Fights...

So AFTER Sugar Shane Go's Home & Tends to the Daily Chores to the Satisfaction of his HUSBAND, Jin, who Should he Fight Next???...

He should fight the urge to keep fighting. Even though he got the KO eventually, he's lost all of the snap on his punches. It's a noticable decline from the Cotto fight. Even though it was mentioned earlier that he is easily confused, which is true, his punches have still always had a pretty distinctive sound when they land. That was gone tonight.

He looked like garbage for 35:30 out of a 36 minute fight. He should retire.

If he had to fight and I could choose who he would fight, it would be a Cotto rematch.

He looked like shit. The KO landed in his lap. How the fuck he couldn't solve a shot Mayorga is beyond me. Like Joe King said, he looked awesome in the last minute. He should call it quits or call out Arturo Gatti.

I don't wanna see Shane fight again. All he wants to do is hold. When Mayorga has a boring fight its 100% the opponents fault.

All Shane wants to do is hold? Sounds like the post-Forrest, Shane Mosley to me.

Absolutely. He has been a jumpy sonofagun for years now, and not in a good way. He leaps on his hooks and hopes that he can land them enough to get respect. If he does that, then he'll win the fight with overall activity, perhaps lucky enough to score a KO if he lands just right. See: Estrada, Cruz, Vargas, Collazo, Cotto (approximately half) Mayorga (only two rounds for him, really )

If he can't get that respect, then he'll be in a jump-punch-hold pattern and lose. See: Forrest fights, Wright fights, DLH fight (yeah I said it :crying:), Cotto (half again) most of the Mayorga fight.

And, just my opinion, but I thought Mayorga was clearly the one holding for the second half of the fight, because he had no answer for Shane's head. They'd lunge together, with Mayorga's head coming in higher than Mosley's head every time. He needed to shield his chin after he was visibly hurt in round 6.

Did the Cotto fight took a lot from Shane? Because he was struggling with Mayorga, he guy he was supposed to defeat easily. Mosley looked like a real 37 year old boxer last night. Time to call it quits and dedicate only to promote fights. He must retire. The Shane I saw last night would get defeated by all current welter champions and Margarito will definitely murder him. I hope he is not so stupid to take that fight. The only big fight I see for him is a third fight with Oscar and nothing else.

Remember the Cotto fight was at 147; Mayorga was at 154.

Those two weights make a world of difference for Shane.

Second - from what I saw, I thought Mayorga truly trained & prepared for this one.

Lastly - Mosley made exactly the same mistake Forrest did in his first fight with Mayorga - he got sucked into Mayorga's free-swinging, brawling, wild, machismo-style, rough-house fighting.

Shane's always had that vulnerability...Mayorga brought it out of him all night.

Shane ditched any pretense of boxing and was looking to trade shots and hurt Mayo and simply FIGHTING.

    Lastly....Mayo was weighing 170+ lbs.

So I wouldn't be too conclusive about Shane based on last night.

My thoughts were that it would be an ugly fight...though I thought Shane would take a decision (he almost did).

    Peace.

I agree with the comments that its hard to look amazing against someone as unorthodox as Mayorga.

Also you have to figure that this was the longest layoff in Mosleys' career (HBO ran that graphic underneath while Mosley was walking into the ring), so I also think that may have been a factor as well.

Cotto didn't do shit to Shane. Mosley was shot like that since a long time ago. Forrest left a big psychological scar in mosley and that's it.

i think this fight absolves forrest, at least partially, for the tedious rematch he had with mosley. mosley just won't fight inside. he's a hit and hold fighter and always has been. what's amazing is how easily ODH and Tito handled Mayo vs. Mosley.

Tito was in the same level of shotness as mosley when he fought a prime Mayo.

Only a loss to spinks, and then a dubious win over a middleweight. But his chin was intact.

    that's actually not 100% true

Tony and his team told me that they would be willing to fight Shane before they think about a Cotto rematch. Mosley had been stating he wanted a fight with Margarito for a while now so Magarito and his team have been favorable to this fight even before Mosley looked so so last night.

What I'm trying to say here, is that Mayorga wasn't damaged goods when he fought Trinidad, and was in his physical prime.

IMO Mosley can still deal with Clottey/Berto/Cintron...but he will get beat by Margarito.....though i still want to see that FIGHT...Mosley was stun/hurt a bit by Mayorga in the 1st round yesterday...

Damaged goods? He's never been that. Thats my point. He was just way over his weight, against a guy who knocks people out in brutal fashion for fun. It was also the first puncher that Mayo had been in with.

During the Berto fight when they showed that little segment of Shane and he started throwing those little punches, even then I thought he looked shot. When he got to the ring it became obvious. Not only is it true that his handspeed has gone south but he also seems to have serious trouble pulling the trigger. He also reacts very badly, ameteruishly in fact, to incoming shots. His footwork and chin seem to be the only thing he has left.

The fight itself was a putrid turd. I actually picked up my stuff and left the venue I was watching it at at the end of rd 9. Who would have thought I'd ever walk out on a Mosley fight, but I did.

I really wish Shane would retire, and I fear he's going to stick around even after a few big beatings. The first will probably come from Margarito who would actually be a fool not to take that fight. It's basically a tuneup with a possible career high payday and would add a future HOF'er on his resume'.

You'll have to excuse Tam Tam. He's a Mosley hater who's going to try to tell us Shane has looked this way his whole career or at least since the first Forrest loss.

Shane didn't look that bad 1 fight ago buddy.

:notallthere: Right. He was fighting another guy who was way bigger than him and presented a guy who's a slugger at heart, with a target that's not so easy to catch if you're not prepared to do the work to set your shots up.

Shane would have struggled with Mayorga at any point in his career.

I completely disagree with that. I think the style would have caused him problems because I already knew it wouldn't mesh well with Mosley, but a prime Shane would have had no trouble letting his hands go like he did last night. Also a prime Shane wouldn't have had the stamina issues that cause him to throw single digit shots these days.

I may love Shane but at least I ain't biased when I discuss him. You obviously dislike the guy and it shows when you say biased shit like that.

You're fine to disagree, I don't care. It's my opinion, not yours. I don't need to justify myself with schoolyard "oooh, booo you hate him" rubbish. Grow the fuck up.

And who are you calling bias on anybody? You're the biggest SSM fan in the entire universe.
