REED NEVER Said the Ref Gave Mayorga an 8 Count...The Ref NEVER Counted @ All...REED Said Mayorga was PRONE, MOTIONLESS for 8 Seconds or More, which he WAS....

After Shane Stretched Mayorga, the Ref Went to 1 Knee, Looked N Mayorga's Eye's for a Couple Seconds, then Waved it Off...THEN, the Ref Put his Hand on Mayorga's Chest, but it's NOT like he was PREVENTING Mayorga from RISING...Mayorga Wasn't even ATTEMPTING to Get Up...

Mayorga WOULDN'T have Been Anywhere Close to Beating a 10 Count...He was DONE...

well perhaps, but i didn't feel like i was at the time....prob cos the SKY team had it similar....but i wasn't really doubting myself......i didn't even think a lot of those rounds were that close.....it'd be interesting to watch the HBO version of the fight, but i dunno if i want to sit down and watch such a scrappy fight again.......how were the HBO guys dressing up Mosley's performance during the bout?

 

I watched the fight in the morning and was kind of groggy so i don't remember a lot of the details.

First they were stating that Mosley was having issues getting off because of Mayorga's awkwardness.

Then when Shane finally started picking it up they were saying it was likely Shane's 'plan' to wait for Mayorga to gas before picking up the tempo.

And of course they brought up Ricardo's 10 pound weight advantage numerous times.

Even in the post fight interview Merchant asked why Shane at age 37 choose to fight "guys like this". He was acting like Mosley was taking on some kind of young gun.

.....yeah, we had the interview with Larry and it occured to me then that the HBO viewpoint was completely different

 

The only fault I see the ref having is not properly instructing Shane to go to a neutral corner. If Shane had been all the way in the corner, he wouldn't have made it across the ring in time to land that last left hook.

It's a futile point, he would have won a UD due to the 1st knockdown anyway.

Exactly. Debating over whether the ref should have counted is pointless.

 

they showed a post fight interview with shane, said he was surprised at mayorgas size, he was about 10 pounds heavier than shane, said he was trying not to get caught with anything crazy

i dont hold the fight against him seeing how it was at 154 which clearly isnt shanes best weight by far
