Seth Petruzelli, best known for losing to Brad "The Hillbilly Heartthrob" Imes on The Ultimate Fighter Season 2, sent the Kimbo Slice bandwagon careening off of a cliff last night. An 11th hour substitute, Petruzelli needed just 14 seconds to close the show, likely damaging the marketability of the former internet streetfighting star. Seriously dazed, Kimbo was rescued by the ref and grappled with him for a short time. ::
Kimbo's Punch Resistance Must B VERY Bad... Petruzelli's Right Leg was OFF the Canvas as he LANDED that Right Jab, Meaning that he Really DIDN'T Appear to Get Good Leverage on the Shit...& It was a DEFENSIZE Jab @ that, Not a Superman Punch or Anything like That... Yet Kimbo Fell like he'd Been SHOT, then Got Pounded Out...The Stoppage was a WEE Bit Premature, but it was just Gonna Get WORSE for Kimbo... They ROLLED the Dice on Petruzelli, but N Hindsight, Kimbo's Replacement Opponent Probably SHOULD have Been that Tub of LARD that Arlovski Fought... REED:hammert:
Yep, It looked like Seth had very little leverage behind that shot. One of the other things that they didn't mention on the broadcast is that Petruzelli weighed in for a fight at 205. He was supposed to fight at Lightheavy last night and got plunged into a bout with a big heavyweight. To me that makes Kimbo's chin even more questionable.
I thought it was more of a slip than anything but then again, why was he counting change on his hands and knees when Pertuzzi started to blast him.
Nah, it Definitely Wasn't a Slip... Kimbo WALKED Right N 2 the Shot & FELL to his Hands & Knees on Impact... There WASN'T Much Leverage on the Punch (Not as Much as there COULD have Been), but it DID Land FLUSH... & Like Trplsec just Pointed Out, Petruzelli was a LIGHTHeavy...A BIG Guy like Brett Rogers would've Knocked Kimbo UNCONCIOUS... REED:hammert:
Questionable groundgame, questionable stamina, questionable Power (yes overrated at least), now even a questionable chin. With so many question marks his one ! that he has (fanbase/marketability) might be in question soon, too.
I didn't watch the cbs telecast...just going by shitty clip from youtube.....IT seems like Petru guy landed that right kick to the chin of Kimbo..he look to be on his way down right after that..and the right hand came afterward...
Petruzelli NEVER Landed a Kick... He Raised his Legs a Couple Times for DEFENSIVE Purposes, then Kimbo RAN INTO a Right Jab as Petruzelli's Right Leg was Still OFF the Mat... Honestly, Petruzelli Probably Had No More than 20-30% of the LEVERAGE Behind that Shot that he COULD Have had, yet it STILL Fucked Kimbo's World Up...If Petruzelli Hit Kimbo w/his BEST Shot, it'd have Likely Been a 1 Punch KO... Kimbo's Got ALOT more 1st Round KO's to Look Forward to in his MMA Future... This was THE WORST Possible Scenario for the Kimbo Hype Machine...A Street Fighting, STAND-UP Striker Getting DESTROYED N 14 Seconds by FIST Strikes from a SMALLER Opponent... He just Got EXPOSED N HIS OWN Element... REED:hammert:
I thought the same watching it live. But on replay you can clearly see the kicks didn't do any damage. However that second kick was strategically important because it kept Kimbo at range and unable to pin Seth against the cage. If not for the kick, Seth doesn't have the space to land the punch.
Kimbo might have the worst chin in fighting history. His chin was literally touched.I watched thef ight 10 times and I can't believe it. Wow, Kimbo should get in the dictionary for fraud although most of us were never fooled at least on this board.
Just got the fight on youtube, Kimbo is one glass jawed mofo. Shame Ken didn't fight him - he could do with a win ::
He was beaten four times in MMA and twice in Kickboxing, making him 0 for 2 in kickboxing, and 8 and 4 in MMA. He's lost to good fighters and a couple of ok fighters. Gan McGee got him with a heel hook, and Gan McGee isn't exactly Noguiera on the ground. Bottom line, Seth is decent at best, but he looked like Vanderlei Silva on Saturday night against Kimbo.
No shit ... that was pathetic. The guy tagged him with an arm punch while going backwards on one foot and it was all over. For anyone that didn't watch it yet. <object width="425" height="344"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/o5ZxpbtcC8A&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></object>
That's alll true, but Seth is also the best MMA fighter that Kimbo has faced. With all of Petruzelli's shortcomings, he is head and shoulders above Cantrell, Tank and Thompson. That is true despite giving up 30 pounds to Kimbo. But one thing stands out for me. Kimbo, since taking up MMA, has let his beard continue to get thicker. It makes you wonder if he wasn't already aware of his inability to take a punch. If you see him with 6" eyebrows in his next bout, you'll know it's true. By the way, the most watched fight in MMA history will be the rematch. "Kimbo versus the guy who landed a lucky punch" is the way it will be sold. Gary Shaw really is smart.
Not true in my opinion. If you don't think those kicks helped him keep distance to punch then you are right.
I thought he was about to get inside before he got "jabbed". It was too short of a fight to say it had to do with MMA, you can see him posture and wait in street fights at the beginning too...I think you are reaching here.
It was lucky without a doubt. However, the effect it had on Kimbo wasn't luck. It definitely says something about his ability to take a punch. I will say that if Gil Clancy was commentating, he would have commented on how dry Kimbo was and vulnerable to a quick knock out. Next time instead of scowling and stalking before the bell maybe Kimbo will stay warm..:dunno:
I told everyone who would listen that Kimbo was a joke and now it's come true. Knocked out by a jab by a guy with one foot off the ground! Now that is a fucking joke. Glad Kimbo got exposed. Especially considering they tried to feed him a damn can who weighed in to fight at 205. They try feeding him a bum and get a slap right in the face. I love it.
Petruzelli is certainly not head and shoulder above Thompson, in fact, Id pick Thompson to beat him. But I agree with you, in a sense, this is not bad for EliteXC, the rematch gonna be huge, but they have to make it for Kimbos next fight imo, because right now, he has 0 credibility untill he avenges his loss.
Why would the rematch be huge? It's proven that Seth isn't a very good fighter, and Kimbo losing to him especially like he did just proved thet Kimbo is garbage. I'm sure im not in the minority when I say that I don't give a shit if I ever see either of those guys fight again. Who wants to see two guys that are not any good fight in a main event?
U're DIScounting the MMA IGNORANCE of Mainstream Fans...Most of them have Merely SHIFTED their Attention FROM Kimbo to Petruzelli... Sure, the Rematch is MEANINGLESS to Hardcore Fans, but that's NOT who CBS is Appealing to... REED:hammert:
