What about the straight punches vs. hooks theory in an analogy like this:

    Klitschko - Kessler
    Peter - Andrade
    McCline - Mack

Mack also dropped Andrade with hooks whereas Kessler could do nothing with his straights. Also Andrade was just fine in his next fight and not overly chinny...

    Klitschko TKO
    Tarver KO

Though I'm hoping for the opposite to transpire in both fights. :cheer:

Klitchko will bash Peter. I see a beating and a KO

Dawson will beat tarver's ass and be the first guy to stop him.

Yeah, McCline's not a big puncher....and the uppercuts that started everything off for McCline (in the second and third rounds) didn't seem like they were huge punches.

Part of Peter's problem is he has no concept of defense...he comes forward, walks directly into punches and rarely moves his head.

I don't think he sees a lot of punches coming...he certainly can be countered easily.

Klitschko usually punches first, so it wasn't really a factor in that fight...but that's pat of the reason why the left hook did so much damage in the last round.

Dawson's Defense is SLOPPY & his Chin is WEAK...That's a BAD Mixture if U're Trying to BEAT Antonio Tarver...

Dawson's SPEED & WORKRATE will Have him N CONTROL of the Fight for as Loooooooong as it Lasts, but @ SOME Point, Tarver WILL Catch him FLUSH w/his Left Hand...

    & WHEN he Does, it'll B Dawson's ASS...

    Tarver by KO, 7th Round...

REED's Having a Hard Time Determining Who will Get LICKED btwn Klit & Peter...If Vitali was an ACTIVE Fighter, he'd BEAT Peter 10 Out of 10 Times...But a 4 Year Layoff is Enough to Make U DOUBT a Cat...

Vitali's ALWAYS had a STOUT Chin though & Peter's ONLY Chance to Beat him Would B By KO....So REED'll take Vitali by an UGLY UD or a LATE (& UGULY) KO...

I think Vlad's main problem in that fight was he was more concerned about not trying to get knocked out, more than trying to look impressive or knock Peter out!

    Dawson by close decision.
Peter by TKO 10. Vitali quits with an "injury."

But I got 8-1 odds on my Tarver-Peter parlay, so that is what I am hoping for.

You're giving Vitali a lot of credit for a guy who's 37, fights with his mouth open after only 4 rounds, and has been inactive for 4 years while having a lot of injuries and surgeries.
I think we'll be in for a surprise.

It is a hard angle to tell.

He looks decently defined, but 253 1/2 isn't exactly light for him.

I figured I'd mention, this morning I saw a huge half-page ad for these fights on the back page of the SF Chronicle Sports section. Not sure when's the last time I saw that.

At least there's some effort to publicize these fights, as it should be one of the better nights in the sport this year.

    It's a fair point.

Not sure how many cities you can go in that have Muni trains with "Gay OnDemand" ads on them.

Dawson UD. A stoppage would really make my day, but I doubt it happens.

I'm having a really hard time with Vitali/Peter. To me, it's a coin flip whether Vitali is shot or not. After four years off, I'm going to say he is. Peter will stop a surprisingly awful version of Klitschko. I say this with no confidence whatsoever. If Vitali is close to his best he'll whip Peter.

I have no idea about either fight. I am going with Tarver and I hope I am wrong by TKO.Dawson is super skilled and super chinny.

I am going with Vitali. I have no confidence in this pick either but VK is better fighter. He might not be now but Sam Peter fucking sucks. His only shot is VK is done which is possible.

Yeah, I'm struggling with Tarver/Dawson too. I have to go with Dawson to win more rounds, and I'm just basically predicting he lasts the distance.
