http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=7251&zoneid=13 Great fight. It should be an easy win for Alvarez. Diaz is a good fighter, but Alvarez is just on a whole different level. And the way he stormed through the Dream Tourney, he's got a ton of momentum behind him. If EliteXC can survive, they really need to hang their hat on Alvarez as he's could be a HUGE star with the right exposure. TFK
I agree with TFK, They should be promoting the shit out of Alvarez, very similar to the way the WEC does Faber. I love the fight with Diaz, Alvarez can really put a well respected name on his resume. Don't count Diaz out though.:nono:
After beating Dida, Hanson and Kawajiri in the Tourney, he already has some very respected names on his resume. If (when) he beats Diaz, he's gotta be in strong consideration for fighter of the year. TFK
And it will legitimize you placing him in your Top 5 P4P. :: Seriously, it will just be another guy for Noons to avoid.
agreed, but Diaz is definitely the most recognizable name out of him and the three he beat in the tourney. MMA message board nerds such as ourselves know who Dida is, but more mainstream fans are probably going to know Diaz. Alvarez destroys Noons.
Are you kidding me? Watch the Hansen fight and watch Alvarez escape submission after submission after submission. It was a thing of beauty. TFK
Alvarez is never in a boring fight, and Diaz rarely is. With their styles, it's all but guaranteed to be a great fight. TFK
You say that like those were shit fights. If you love MMA, those two fights were about as good as it gets:cheer:
No, just pointing out he does have some very exciting fights. The Karo fight was ground skill at it's finest. I enjoy a lot of Diaz's fights.
I don't think Alvarez's standup is weak so much that I think he has so much confidence in his striking that he's too willing to stand and trade at all times, and will take 3 to land one. TFK
That's why he couldn't continue in the tournament, there's no reason for him to take shots he should'nt have to take ...that can bite him in the ass one day.
It might, but even though he's been dropped a few times, he hasn't really been hurt. He's amazingly calm when in trouble. And that's why I don't like tournaments. Too much goes wrong. Alvarez goes undefeated and beats Hansen, yet Hansen wins the tournament. Regardless, I can't wait for this fight. TFK
I think it fucked his eye up, I'm not going to sit here and say the guy has no chin like all of Sherdog is doing and I do believe he could have beaten Seth. I think he got his eye scratched or poked or something. The way his eye looked after the fight it just wasn't consistant with the little jab that "dropped" him. What ever happened to his eye just surprised him and he just didn't know how to react. Even the shots that Seth landed after he was down were some weak ass shots.
