This is a possibility according to Rick Reeno of MaxBoxingScene, though the network could use some of the WNF budget to put towards their FNF bouts.

It's probably needed, as FNF has seemingly become perhaps the lowest quality of televised boxing in the States outside of Telemundo.

Wasn't the budget for FNF cut to like, 50K a couple of years ago? Not easy to produce a quality fight card and televise it for that.

And I hate to say it, but the cancellation of WNF is a sign of the times. We were so busy sucking each other off around this time last year, that few have noticed networks posting record low ratings across the board this year.

I could be mistaken, but Showtime might be the only network whose ratings have improved, but it also required their upgrading their SCB budget.

They probably found out Rick Reeno is a dickhead and broke the deal.

If it improves FNF's that's great. If it's just another case of a network not wanting to have to deal with the hassles of boxing, despite it's respectable ratings..................then that sucks.

I wish they'd save money and get rid of Atlas and his BS negativity.

Yeah, he really grinds broadcasts to a halt and I change the channel every time he starts on one of his amateur psychologist rants.

It's one of the main reasons why I don't watch FNF's outside of a few telecasts a year...that Tessitore and Kenny and their weak line-up of fights.

    That didn't last very long.

Did it have much of an impact on the navigation numbers to either site?

I can't really speak on Max. B-Scene noticed minimal difference, if any at all. We were already ranked #1 (among boxing-only news-based sites, which excludes Boxrec, and ESPN and Yahoo boxing pages), and remained #1 during the temp merger. And we're still #1 after the split. But as far as additional readership, minimal increase at best.

agreed, if it means better fights for FNF then good, but if FNF will just stay the same, then it does suck.

Is yahoo and espn excluded because it can't be determined how much of their traffic comes from boxing readers? It's funny because that would make FightBeat #8 in the world! Not bad for a 2-bit website, as joony would say hahahahhahaa.

exactly. though to be honest, there was some traffic list where ESPN's boxing page was specifically referenced, and surprisingly it wasn't even top 5. Not that it means all that much - I'm sure it's still generally the most recognized boxing page to the casual fan.

I'm not sure where Yahoo would rank. They do a fairly good job of burying their boxing section, as does FoxSports.

Boxingscene may have good content, but the site is ugly as Sam Peter's mug. Can't they pay somebody to give it a makeover? Really, the design is what makes me close the page. It looks too congested and crowded.

The design is completely retarded and as the legend Joe Rein would say:

"IT LOOKS LIKE EVERY ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN ON TOILET PAPER"
