I don't agree that Vitali is more accurate. They're both incredibly accurate.

Vitali has a more complete package.....Wlad holds a lot of the aces but his weaknesses are more stark

No it's not retarded rationale at all.

    Most everyone here agrees

Wlad is the better boxer , he's more fluid , better defense , faster hands.

What does that leave Vitali that he's able to take out every common opponent where Wlad could not ...

    Power

They're both accurate punchers. Saying one is and the other is not is silly. One of the things that always amazed me about Wlad was his work rate and punching accuracy from all kinds of angles.

They both have incredible power ... but I'd wager power punch for power punch ... Vitali hits just a little bit harder.

I wonder what they would say if asked ?

And I wonder what Peter, Sanders and Purity would say?

I'll bet they'd all agree ... Doctor IRON FISTS ... hits harder punch for punch.

The only real weakness I see with Wlad is his chin.

It's funny because a few years ago , they were both "bums" according to most of you and Vitali in particular was just a big clumsy ROBOT ...

Now he's the complete package

This post makes me laugh ... sorry Sly. You're grasping for straws.

Power is power is power ... when talking about who's a bigger puncher.

    Who hit harder:

    James Toney or Thomas Hearns?

According to your rationale Iran Barkley would say Toney.....

  8. PetreTG

Chris Byrd would tell you Vitali hits harder but was too clumsy and slow to hit him enough to stop him where as Wlad hits faster and is more accurate and was able to hit him much more.

He might also suggest there was something on Wlads gloves and he could beat them both in a rematch.

Dude ... your eliminating ALL OTHER ABILITIES ... when comparing Wlad and Vitali I am not.

    Start over.

Petre, I've seen Wlad stop fighters with one punch way more often than Vitali did. I don't disagree with your point about Vitali having heavier hands than Wlad, but when it comes to one punch KO power, Wlad has the edge. Common opponents isn't always a good gauge of a fighter's power. Corrales couldn't stop Casamayor, Marquez did, but you won't find anyone who's trying to pretend Marquez hits harder.

wladimir is technically more polished and hits harder, but vitali is more versatile and relaxed when he fights. unlike wladimir, he doesnt wait for his opponents and instead he throws a lot of punches and in some ways, is a lot more watchable than his brother.

I don't think he's grasping at straws, I just think he's decided that 'heavy handed' means 'moderately powerful' all by himself and expects everyone to know exactly what he means.

(BTW, as I was fascinated to learn recently power isn't just power in it's generation. In any explosive movement an athlete will be predisposed to a reliance on either reactive/plyometric strength or limit/brute strength. Obviously every puncher/jumper/thrower has a mix of the two but you can see it in the difference in punching styles between say Joe Louis and George Foreman or between Thomas Hearns and Julian Jackson. To me, 'strength punchers' like Jackson, Foreman, Hamed, Shavers etc are what I think of when I think of 'heavy handed', because they litterally have that look about them when they punch)

Wlad is a ho-bag who clinches like Ruiz to wear down his opponent.

Vitali uses his height and space and doesn't clinch nearly as much even though he seems a bit more clumsy.

    Therefore Vitali >>>>> the Wlad

Vitali is still a fragile injury prone ho-bag though. :nono:

Congratulations to Vitali, but that fight goes to show you how pitiful the heavyweights are.

The guy was so gassed he had his hands at his waist and mouth wide open after two rounds, and as bad as he looked, Peter was even worse.

For me its gotta be Vitali but there styles would make for a fascinating fight.

The kings is back but last night still left a lot of unanswered questions, at not stage was Vitali under pressure.

I would like to see if Haye would be as quick to call Vitali out...??

What did you guys think about his entrance to the ring..

People agree Wlad has better defense?

Peter's inability to land much of anything on Vitali is probably part of the reason he was quit (though I thought he looked intimidated before the fight even started and discouraged in his corner after the first or second round).

I think Peter's been softened up a lot, mentally, since the first Wlad fight.

Wlad has been very fluid offensively.

Petre, so do you agree that Marquez hits harder than Chico did? Or that Ali hit harder than Frazier?

Common opponents means little. Vitali is not exactly an attacking fighter, but he is more aggressive than Wlad, who is sometimes pathetically tentative (ie, his recent fight against that russian bum). That leads to more stoppages, Vitali simply throws more powerpunches.

But if you've seen enough of their fights, you'll know that when Wlad goes for it, he's done a lot more damage with single punches than Vitali. Vitali breaks people down with his patient boxing and powerpunching, when Wlad decides to he just destroys people with a couple of well placed powerpunches.

Yeah, Vitali usually gets his stoppages by accumulation. The only semi-recent one I can think of where it wasn't by accumulation was when he harpooned the whale.

Wlad can end nights with one punch, like he did against Brock and Thompson.
