.....what do we make of Freddie Roach's remarks?....i never picked up on, or seen anything mentioned previously about Hopkins repeatedly going to the wrong corner.....i can't believe Roach's view is solely based on this, what he saw in prep for the Calzaghe fight must back it up

I heard him on the radio talking about that. He all but said that he refused to train Hopkins because he felt he was done as a fighter. He said he couldn't train him in good conscience. IMO, it is pretty telling because he refused to take a payday on principle. It doesn't matter. Pavlik is the worst fighter Hopkins has fought in some time.

He only said that because he's training Pacquaio. Just two fights ago, he was traning DLH and said DLH could beat PBF:lol:

Hopkins: See that right hand..it's a hell of a right hand..dangerous..what are we going to do about that Naazim??

Naazim: Put it in the same drawer we put Trinidad's left hook at!

i LOVE HOW Hopkins still overrates Tito's power. You never hear Winky talking about taking Tito's shots. Without the handwraps, Tito was pillow fisted at 160.

Winky fought a Trinidad that was coming off a 2 1/2 year retirement...and who only had an exhibition fight against a human punching bag...

did wright even get hit by trinidad? the guy quit midway through the fight. now trinidad is pillow fisted  that's rich.

what roach meant was that he was upset to see a once great fighter so badly diminished. since delahoya was never a great fighter it wasn't as upsetting for him to collect that trainers fee for working with a washed up fighter.

If you didn't see Tito land some shots against Wright and Hopkins maybe you are too short to see the tv.

I saw trinidad land some shots against hopkins on television. I didn't see him landing shit on wright from ringside at the mgm grand. and I was just tall enough to cash my betting slip at the sports book afterward

BUT not enough to see the fight. Was Gary Coleman there and blocking your view? I understand he likes to stand at boxing events.

wright has always been great guy and a hall of famer but even I won't pretend he had a vintage trinidad in the ring with him that night.

anyone with the audacity to refer to trinidad as pillow fisted is obviously a halfwitted cretinoid, further evidence would be predicting pacquaio to win in december.

cretinod is not a word, shrimp. Trindad was pillow fisted @160. As for Pac winning, I refuse to think otherwise. Oscar should be punished and he will. I am in communion with the true gods and not the false god of Abraham which made you the hideous shrunken gargoyle you are today.

Did you notice the sample used on Nas's "Queens Get the Money" is from the music they played in the beginning of the episode for Hopkins?

    Edit: Nevermind.

Pavlik should win due to his youth and power. But the fact that he's moving up 10 pounds to a weight he's never been at, and not exactly looking like a world beater at 166 in his rematch with Taylor makes this one worthy of a 2nd look.

Initially I thought Pavlik, but watching his rematch with Taylor and how much slower he looked and his power less effective tells me he could be in for a bad night.

I'm gonna say Hopkins. I think he'll hurt Pavlik a couple of times too, possibly drop him with a quick counter the way he did Tarver and Calzaghe at some point. Pavlik will pressure but I don't see him landing very much. His punch output will be significantly reduced and he's not a mobile guy like Calzaghe. Pretty straight forward with his predictable 1-2 combo with Taylor avoided in the 2nd fight by simply keeping his hands higher. B-Hop even at 43 is better than anyone on Pavlik's resume.

I say Hopkins via UD. I like the style of the match up for him. He's got a guy thats there in front of him who's not very fast or awkward, and is just there in front of you leaving all kinds of openings. This could look like the Trinidad fight.

Hopkins is absolute crap, boring as f*ck with no will to win let alone will to fight. Backpeddling boring bitch motherf*cker needs to get KTFO before his career comes to a close. All his fights are garbage.

I agree, but you see, he's a rat, always has been, so this is what he'll do,.. he'll time each round out with backing up, clinching, pot-shotting and illegal impliments on the inside,.. make it eye-searingly close and difficult to score,.. then when the stinking split decision is read out one way or another,.. he, alongside his groupies will point out his age, and how a PUUUURIIIYYYMMMMMMEEE HOPKINS...woulda wun 12 - zip...

Anyone can back up and stink a fucken fight out, he thinks he's clever but it's just cowardly, and more millions go into his bank account,.. whats he got to lose?... he's officially impune from any losses due to his overrated age.

roach has been saying that for the past few months. it was odd that Hopkins kept doing it, but not exactly the greatest piece of evidence that he needs to retire. The inability to throw more than one punch every five seconds is a bit more alarming.

That said, it was about 18 months ago that Freddie was calling for Israel Vazquez to retire. Two Fight of the Year winning performances later...

Funny, Hopkins lost to Taylor twice. I also like how you say Pavlik didn't look good in the second Taylor fight, yet he still won and clearly. Something Hopkins couldn't do in two attempts.

I thought Pavlik proved something in the second Taylor fight. That he can fight a hard 12 rounds and win by decision against a guy who was supposed to be the better boxer.
