Cause Pavlik was supposed to be unbeatable if you believed the HBO crew, and they need some excuse to latch onto.

Are they forgetting that B-Hop's entire PRIME was spent at 160?

At 160... the 2001 version of Hopkins would have stopped Pavlik.

    let me explain

    :notallthere:

if you guys have ever seen Hopkins fight before you'd know the difference between Hopkins vs guys he is stronger than, and Hopkins vs guys he has to neutralise

no ones claiming Pavlik would win at 160....but the fight would look different and stinky

First off I wont to say congrats to my boy Sly. Sly you predicted exactly how the fight would play out. Then you had muthafukas on this site bad mouthing you. Now I picked Pavlik to win but not by a KO. However what you did was looked into the crystal ball and predicted this shit. Good shit dawg. All the motherfuckas that was talking shit to you need to apologize to you. Gotta give credit when credit is due. Good shit baby. I'll Holla 5000

most of these people might have changed their pick before the fight...why should they apologise if they ended up agreeing with Sly?

Shut the fuck up. People were on this very thread talking shit to Sly cause he picked against Pavlik. Now if they wanted to change their minds they would have. However they never got around to it so therefore everyone that talked shit to him needs to man up and give Sly the credit he deserves for predicting the exact outcome of the fight. Don't be a bitch and man the fuck up. I'll Holla 5000

Cause they were the one's who were attacking Sly. Don't matter if they had a chance to change their minds. They still acted like little punk ass bitches toward Sly and his prediction. So therefore they need to apologize for attacking Sly for no reason especially since he was correct. By the way when was this thread created? I'll Holla 5000

Great prediction Sly!! damn people just give it up like the dawg when Sly is right he is right.

I thought Pavlik would win but Hops ia one of my faves so I am glad, I did think Hops had a chance!

Sly is right about the weight not mattering. Hops beat Pavlik because of something that you seldom see now a days... He used superior technical ability and craft to expose a specific flaw in Pavliks footwork to beat Kelley. Most fighters today are not skiled enough to so something like this. Sort of like how Louis got beat by Schmeling. James Toney has that type of skill and so does Mayweather. Jones never needed it.

Pavlik is a lot better than that fight indicated... and I do not care much for Pavlik so take this for what it is worth... but he looked like shit because his people did not know how to correct his lazy step and punch footwork. All Bernard had to do was to beat Kelley by positioning based on when Kelley's lead foot hit the ground. As long as Bernard is to the right of it he is out of range.

I hope really badly that Jones beats Calzighe and him and Nardo make nice!

Jones doesn't have the smarts to deal with Calzaghe, who is as crafty and tough as Hopkins is. And worse, roy will have to deal with a lefty.

It's certainly appears to be a better prediction than his one about Floyd coming out of retirement to face Margarito before October.

    Slystaff please,..

With a Hopkins fight on the horizon, I think I was too resentful, on how Hopkins was going to sear the eyes, and therefore didn't focus on a prediction, ---but if I made one..and I cant remember if I did,..?? I probably would have said that Hopkins was going to back up, pot-shot, clutch and essentially drag Pavlik into the mud with him,..but Hopkins would eventually lose a stinking split decision,.. which would lead his groupies to scream "A prime Hopkins would have"...

Kudos Sly- your prediction was spot on. :bears:

The fight went exactly as I thought it would, with the slight difference that Hopkins just didn't slow down at halfway like I imagined (which sort of threw my overall prediction a tad!).

Goddamn the crafty old bastard is good: one of the best to lace 'em up, surely?

I am invariably right. Recently: Picked Vitali to stop Peter, Dawson to beat Tarver....I picked Cotto to beat Shane, Margarito to beat Cotto (this one was offline though..told Buddy Rydell in person)....Mayweather to beat Hatton, Hopkins to beat Tarver, Mayweather to beat De la Hoya and Hatton, Pacquaio to beat Marquez, Mayorga to beat Vargas...etc etc

The ONLY big fight in recent years in which I was wrong was Pavlik-Taylor 1 and it was my arrogance leading up to that one which has caused people to refuse forget it.

Good call, Slystaff. What were your picks leading up to Hopkins/Calzaghe and Lacy/Calzaghe and Calzaghe/Kessler? Just out of interest?

Sly was also right that Roger Federer would rise from the grave(where his career looked like it was headed) and win the U.S Open where everybody counted him out after the racking losses to average players. Sly was right on that one too.
:bears:Hey Sly, can that dude Povetkin challenge Wlad at all? Or is this a joke fight?

I picked Calzaghe by majority decision over Hopkins...Calzaghe to dominate lacy and Calzaghe to beat Kessler 8-4.

Anyone who remembers my posting history on these fights (eg Musze for Calzaghe-Kessler) would be able to verify....

I haven't seen Povetkin fight and so I can't comment. But I tend to pick Wlad by default and so he's my pick until I watch some tapes on Povetkin.

Calsaghe is going to beat Jones though...not sure about decision or KO as yet...that'll depend upon whether Jones is in survival mode or not...but no way can the Jones of 2008 beat Joe Calzaghe.

Jones had handspeed (and mobility) advantage over all of his opponents throughout his career. He wont in this fight.
