    Corrales against Mayweather.

Up against a very quick opponent with great defense, they were both too slow and befuddled. Not just slow, but too patient.

As has been shown with fast slicksters with good defense, or even fast spoilers like Bernard [IMG] - you just need to outwork them, not give them much of a chance to think, to react, and to get in a rhythm. Patience can be good, in fact it's one of Pavlik's good attributes, but in some cases you need to lose the patience and throw caution to the win. In both cases, Chico and Pavlik were being far, far too patient trying to pick their spots, all the while just being peppered and outboxed and outslicked.

Which is actually very odd, considering they are both incredibly brave fighters. But despite that, they needed to take more risks.

I don't think it's that pavlik lacks balls, it just goes to show how a crafty style like nard's really can drop an opponent's workrate badly, and how a great defense can be discouraging. In some cases being unable to find your target can be as discouraging as being hit a lot.

Pavlik does resemble Corrales (RIP) in the sense that he doesnt use his reach all the time and just comes in with punches often fighting on the inside. When a fighter has that power and ability, against most it would work, but not crafty B-Hop:nono:

Pavlik does remind me of Chico in some ways, but actually not punch technique. Pavlik has great extension on his shots, he can punch long and straight, and opponent's often look surprised, like they thought they were out of range.

Chico of course was an infighter, and primarily a hooker. Pavilk is more of a 1-2 straight puncher.

But their mentality in the ring is similar, and their footwork and attacking pattern.

Chico was a better fighter than Pavlik.

:atu:no he wasn't, not even close.

Let's not take shit on Pavlik's chest even though he was embarassingly beaten by an old man. He still twice beat the man who twice beat Bernard so it is not like they were in different class. Bernard just was stylistic nightmare for him

Personnally, it reminded me of Hopkins Trinidad. It was almost a carbon copy except Hopkins didn't knock Pavlik out.

Can I ask a question in regards to Pavliks resume. Who has he fought that has the footwork and countering ability that Hopkin has. I mean we all know that pavlik hits hard and will do damage if u stay in the pocket. But who has he fought that moved. I'll Holla 5000

Not anyone with speed Dawg. Its why Abraham is a live dog. Pavlik has the Monzone ways about him but has to learn (which he can do) to deal with the guys who are a little faster on the draw. Even Abraham is a pretty fast explosive puncher and could be dangerous to Pavlik int his respect truthfully!

Pavlik reminds me alot of Trinidad. The styles are virtually mirror images of each other. Both take their time, circle a little bit, before settling down into moving forward behind the jab to basically work inside.

Trinidad was more known for his left hook, and Pavlik of course for his right hand. But both put shots together and work well upstairs and down stairs.

Of course the problems for them are poor footwork, lack of defense, and pretty one dimensional in their approaches. Neither guy has the athleticism or know how to buy time, box behind a jab and counter right right off the back foot, and the head movement is non existent with both guys.

Other than Pavlik being 26, I don't understand why people thought he would beat Bernard. B-Hop was clearly the better fighter. And I always felt so long as his stamina held up he would win, by decision or KO. KP just didn't bring anything to the table that Hopkins had never seen before.
