Good for Randall Bailey.....hasn't really lose a fight since Cotto back in 04...his lose to Ngoudjo was bullshit..he won that fight easily and was rob.... still hasn't fought anyone good...but hopefully he gets a title shot..against the right opponent he could win.....vs. Holt(chin) or Hatton/Malig(shotness/fagness).
I really thought he was gonna be something until he ran into that Columbian. If I remember correctly, he was even on the cover of Ring magazine at one point. It shows a lot of mental strength on his part to come back from so many set-backs.
He's never been as good as he's looked against scrubs and thats his biggest problem; he doesn't know how to beat good fighters.
It's true, but a lot of similar fighters are usually full-time opponents by this point. As you said, Bailey still lacks a big win (unless we want to count Bolillo Gonzalez, which was notable at the time), yet he still carries himself like a world title is just around the corner. That part's at least to be admired.
if bailey was in there in against hatton when lazcano fought him, bailey would've finished him. i thought he did enough to beat that canadian guy who fought on even terms vs. malignaggi. bailey vs. urango would be a war.
No doubt about that. I like Bailey. He comes across as a good guy and his fights are generally entertaining....but I'm just commenting on his relative abilities of a fighter. He's missing what it takes to compete with the best. He did secure two of the cooler KO's back when he was WBO champ though. That Bolillo KO was sick.
i saw him on the undercard hopkins/daniels when he laid out ceballos. the guy was out for minutes. i was a bit disappointed when he lost to hurtado and again when he got outboxed by corley. good to see him win though. i thought he was completely finished after that beating he took from cotto.
The 1st Corley fight was terrible. I was at ringside for that, and what made the fight even worse was that the co-feature (Perez-Machado) was a war.
Agreed. He just isn't very good. He has some power but is a sharp as butter. I wouldn't consider him a world class fighter. He is essentially an opponent. I love his fight with Hurtado (who stopped him,)I might add a typical Cotto opponent.
Hurtado-Bailey was an odd fight, I remember a couple KD's and Bailey was stopped with a bodyshot. I wonder what the result would have been if it was Bailey who won and took on Vivian Harris.:doh:
Good to hear that Bailey is back in form. I'm with those who thought he was going to be something really special at one time in his career; hits like Dick Butkus, moves very nice around the ring, and has terrific leverage and balance..but there was that special element missing from him that kept him from being an elite fighter. I would love to see him back on top after all these years, and he looks remarkably fit and ready.
And this means what exactly? Corley is BEYOND shot. When they both were in thier primes, Corley proved he was superior. Bailey will never make it to the top. Bradley would beat the shit outta him.
