It would be very smart to not have a rematch if Bute's people care about him, the guy could get ruined not that he was much to begin with.

Are you fucking deranged? Getting up doesn't count for horseshit if you are KTFO on your feet.

The ref got to 9, then turned around, berated Andrade for no readily apparent reason, then continued his count at 6. If he'd just counted to ten, Andrade was unfit to continue...the bell was irrelevant.

    Stick to the tennis threads

Should have been stopped before he even got dropped. He was stumbling all around the ring and couldn't defend himself.

Bute sucks. He fights like a homeless man's Calzaghe, only he doesnt have a fraction of Joe's talent.

He better stay away from the truly elite guys. Kessler would put him a coffin, hell Taylor might even beat him.

rule # 10. A boxer who has been knocked down cannot be saved by the bell in any round

ibf uniform championship rules september 2006

    http://www.ibf-usba-boxing.com/index.php?pg=22

There has to be a mandatory 8 count when knocked down. If a fighter cannot be saved by the bell then shouldn't bute be ruled a tko because he was in no shape to continue, even though he was standing. He cannot be saved by the bell even if he gets up. The ref should have waved the fight off beacause bute was out on his feet. He was held up by the ropes. Follow the rules gentlemen.

At the end of the day though,.. he was still knocked out,.. I mean,.. can Bute or any of his fans really walk away from that fight feeling superior and victorious? When if given just 1 more minute,.. Bute would have most definitely by lying on the canvas with his eyes and tongue rolled back. Directly after the fight,.. you knew who the real winner was.

The rule should be that at for the last round, at least, with a knockdown extending beyond the 3 minutes, you get up before the count of 10, the fight is over. It doesn't make any sense that you need to be fit to continue. You don't.

I agree with you on that, but the call is that the referee isn't supposed to know the time...and secondly, the rule isnt that at the moment. Bute should have lost via TKO.

I dont believe so. If you get knocked down, and the final bell rings, and you get up... you last the distance. I'm pretty sure thats the rule.

The ref stopped Mosley-Mayorga, only because it was apparent Mayorga wasnt gonna get up.

But they don't ring the bell. I've had this argument before and I say they should always ring the bell in every round regardless because it matters. In any other round, the ref could still stop it when the guy gets up, although he should factor in the fact that the guy isn't going to be hit for another minute. But in the last round, just get up and the fight should be over.

Since the bell isn't rang (on purpose) for end of the round kd's, I'm not sure you're right?

The rule states that a fighter can't be saved by the bell

in any round, including the last round. It says nothing of standing up and beating the count.

    UNIFORM CHAMPIONSHIP RULES
    As Approved August 25, 2001, Amended August 2, 2002, Amended July 28, 2005
    1. Each Championship contest will be scheduled for twelve (12) rounds, of three (3) minutes
duration, and one (1) minute rest period.
    2. Referee is the sole arbiter of a bout and is the only individual authorized to stop a
    contest.
    3. All bouts will be evaluated and scored by three (3) judges.
    4. The 10 Points Must System will be standard system of scoring a bout.
    5. Mandatory Eight (8) Count after knockdowns will be standard procedure in all bouts.
    6. All professional boxers are required to wear a mouthpiece during competition. The round
cannot begin without the mouthpiece. If the mouthpiece is dislodged during competition,
the referee will call time and have the mouthpiece replaced at the first opportune moment,
without interfering with the immediate action. Points may be deducted by the referee if he
feels the mouthpiece is being purposely spit out.
    7. There is NO Standing Eight (8) Count.
    8. There is NO Three (3) Knockdown Rule.
    9. A boxer shall receive a twenty (20) second count if boxer is knocked out of the ring and
onto the floor. The boxer is to be unassisted by his seconds. If assisted by his seconds,
boxer shall be disqualified by the referee.
    10. A boxer who has been knocked down cannot be saved by the bell in any round.
    11. If a boxer sustains an injury from a fair blow and the injury is severe enough to
terminate the bout, the injured boxer will lose by TKO.
    12. Both boxers shall use only those brands or models of gloves for their contests that have
been approved by the Association of Boxing Commissions.

Wow, I just watched this fight and that was disgusting. The ref was horribly biased the entire fight and proved it in the last 20 seconds. Andrade should have a belt right now.

    That was fucked!

can you believe the ref had the nerve to warn Andrade for holding? :atu:

Bute was holding Andrade behind the neck throughout the whole fight. And ala Hatton's fights in the Warren days, clinches were broken only when it was advatnageous to the house fighter, Bute.

Andrade was right about one thing - a KO was his only mission. He couldn't have won a decision there no matter what.

But at the end of the day, score-cards or not, Andrade beat the hell out of Bute and Bute clearly did not do the same. He fought like a bitch amateur, holding everytime they Andrade got close.

And news for anyone stupid enough to think otherwise. Bute has gone the distance plenty of times. His fatigue was due in large part to Andrade's savage body attack. You know, the one that oddly enough the broadcast team seemed to miss all together.

Also, there were multiple knockdowns in the 12th round. Besides that one that was actually cited by the referee, there were at least 2 others in which the ropes and the ropes alone held Bute up.

I liked the ref's unnecessary breaks twoards the end there too to chew up time. His instructions were clear: "Bute must win this fight."

Doesn't matter. Andrade's stock went up as far as I'm concerned and Bute's went down. Andrade applied a Chavezesque beating for 12 rounds and slowly dismantled the amateur who felt his fatigue was taken advantage of. :atu:

I wonder if Mel Taylor felt his fatigue was taken advantageous of. Ha ha ha.

Andrade I'd pick in the rematch, and I'm not so sure he wouldn't beat Kessler in a rematch too under fair circumstances in which holding isn't allowed, and knock-down counts are 20 seconds long.

And btw: that KD of Andrade was an obvious push. Didn't affect the outcome but it is further evidence of the referee's having been paid off to make sure Bute won the fight.

I liked Andrade's attitutude after the fight - no sour grapes. He wasn't even disappointed. He knew he won the fight and that was good enough for him.

can't be saved by the bell. also, unnecessary breaks chew up precious time. also two additional knock-downs weren't counted in the 12th when the ropes held Bute up.

he was up before "10," but not 10, if you know what I mean.

what i don't get is so far in this thread nobody's mentioned the two additional knock-downs that occurred in the 12th when nothing but the ropes were holding Bute up.

also, and i'm repeating myself now, but the unnecessary breaks that the referee was making in the 12th chewed up time that Andrade counted on having and by rules should've had to dispatch in plenty of time his opponent.

What were the unfair circumstances that enabled Kessler to pitch a virtual shut out against Andrade?

i'll have to watch it again, but like Bute, Kessler comes from a major amateur background which essentially means you don't fight inside. you hold. And if you hold and you don't have a referee pulling for you, you get punished for doing so when you're up against a monster like Andrade.

In order for the amateur hit and hold technique to work you need a referee who breaks clinches immediately, thereby restoring the quicker fighter's advantage immediately.

Legally, there should be no holding allowed at all. But it's twice as bad when the holding initiates an immediate break and the reestablishment of distance between the fighters (clearly advantageous to the quicker amateur style fighter).

What's amazing is that even in the face of one of the most biased and obviously paid off referees Andrade, through determination and durability was able to get to Bute and as far as I'm concerned knock him out.

Lets not get carried away with Kessler. Kessler likes distance but I sure as hell don't remember him grabbing on to Andrade at every oppurtunity like Bute did.

You don't have to hold when you box as well as Kessler. he beat the absolute shit out of Andrade and won all 12 rounds yet Andrade may win a rematch? :atu: I don't mind anything that Doubole L has said about Bute-Andrade because there is some truth to it but get real. Kessler beat Andrade's ass.

The boxing audience and the main target of the boxing industry publicity is the french speaking people of Montreal, which happens to be mostly white. Go take a walk in montreal and you'll understand that it's a very diverse city.

BTW, I can't believe how dumb you are.
