if pavlik truly had a shoulder injury and bronchitis, why no rematch?

pavlik carries his power to 1755 imo. if his claims he was sick, why isn't he calling for a rematch?

he must have seen moves from hopkins he'd never dealt with is my guess.

ironically, i think kelly has a better shot at beating sloppy than he does hopkins (hopkims is tall but doesn't fight tall; pavlik does).

Pavlik's too white to beat Hopkins. He's stiff, cuttable, and just plain inferior on a racial level, several posters here, and virtually all of the Maxboxing messageboard agrees with me.

Well, calzaghe's not white enough? then. Retard...

I dunno double L, but if he were a real fighter he'd suck it up and enter the ring determined to win. He's tough, but wasn't mentally ready for Hopkins...

you're way too focused on etnicity when it comes to your assessment o fighters.

only guy to retire undefeated was white.

white guy couldn't do shit with bramble - puerto rican knocked him on his ass in what, the 2nd round?

only to lose to chavez who in turn lost to randall.

    leave the whole race/ethnicity factor out - it's a non-factor.

you come off as a real racist sometimes, attributing results to the race of a fighter.

 Uh, uh uh,.. when there's a racist outburst from Hopkins, I'm the first to speak up and condemn it, while most white American posters seem down and reformed with it, attributing racism as 'charisma'..lol,.. you bastards just find it too boring to read all of my posts, as, my history suggests, I could be a racial saviour one day,...and a reverse racist the next, :stir: ying yangin' it...

Pavlik doesn't carry extra weight well at all, as demonstrated by the 2nd Taylor fight...and the concerns of the weight leaving up to Pavlik fight

meanwhile Hopkins has been adjusted to the higher weight and become stronger

when Pavlik couldn't at least be as strong as the person he was fighting he was lost

Uhhh??? Calzaghe's not a WHITE AMERICAN,...Don't you read Steve Kim's articles on white guys from the mid-west?.. it's gospel, so perhaps you should,.. you may learn a trick or two.

taylor fought a better fight in the rematch. ii don't think the 8 pounds was to blame. or the 10 for that matter.

i'd luv it if at least one other poster joined me in the reality that pavlik was not himself against hopkins. not sasying he would[ve won, but it was plain as day it wasn't the undefeated killer in there against the cheating geriatric.

Messageboard racism, is thick and delicious, like cottage pie, tense, burnt and tight on the outside, with boiling inners underneath the crust.

Pavlik's "sick" excuse IMO is on par with DLH's "bad shellfish" :shit:

I'd really respect a fighter that comes out and says "that guy is awesome.. he kicked my ass.. he was just so much better"

    it's always excuses..

but I do enjoy them.. it's almost comical... IVs injections, the flu., broconites.. LOL

Why should Hopkins give Pavlik a rematch?

he did say Hopkins taught him a lesson. Not sure of a more complimentary statement than that from one fighter to another.

Here's a question. If Pavlik did have bronchitis, and he was also reported to have had a left shoulder injury, would it have affected his performance?

Nevermind, whether or not he did have bronchitis - let's assume he did. Would it affect his performance?

What if he instead said "I just can't get myself up for fights like this?"

    :atu::atu::atu:

it's not as if due to styles it is impossible for Pavlik to ever beat Hopkins. i think that's the point Pavlik was making.

and he referred to Hopkins several times as a legend. and you almost got the feeling he wasn't overly disappointed about having lost to him as a result.

i think Pavlik's team may have discredited Hopkins' win, and made excuses, but i don't recall Pavlik, in his interview, giving anything but praise for Hopkins. and btw, his claim that he couldn't get off isn't to suggest it had nothing to do with Hopkins.

what did you guys want him to do? sck Hopkins dck after the fight? geeze.

and if you watch the fight closely you will see clearly that Pavlik did not do a lot of the things that have brought him so much success in the past.

he almost never doubled up the jab. his foot-work seemed off. he threw only one lead upper-cut which in the past has been a very effective punch for him that closes the distance and sets up a lot of other punches.

quite simply, Pavlik did not fight with the passion and artistry that he has in the past. whether you want to interpret that to mean Pavlik was implying that Hopkins deserved no credit, i think, is a measurement of your intellect and your understanding of the sport.

Pav should have showed some f'in respect and not come out with bullshit excuses!

he 'couldn't get off" cuz he was in with someone that is not going to get it by basic boxing 101.. the one-two.. no matter how good you do it

Roy was a bitch for making excuses also.

I agree... and said as much two weeks ago (well, almost two weeks ago if we're technical about it). I hate anytime a fighter says "No excuses, but..." because he's already contradicting himself (or she/herself in female fights).

At the same time, I don't need to see this fight again. Pavlik's already shown in two fights that he's not ready to move beyond middleweight.

Indeed. But it's fucking weird though don't you think? Why do you think that is, being that he is undeniably a very big middleweight?

It's almost like Chico being half as effective at lightweight, or Morales being half as effective at featherweight etc.

  29. *Z*

*Z* WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

While Pavlik does have a large frame, he doesn't really carry the weight that well. He's not a very muscular guy at and he doesn't look like he could ever become a very muscular guy. It's just the type of body he has.

why does Taylor get no credit for going the distance in the rematch and making it a closer fight? How can anyone say definitively that it had anything to do with the weight?

Pavlik also wasn't knocked on his ass in the rematch. Was that because of the weight?

and again - why will nobody concede that Pavlik did NOT fight with the same passion and savagery that he did in the past?

why is noone willng to admit that? when it is plainly obvious.
